  1. All apologies for the lack of work over the last month, but my fight still goes on and most days I just want to sleep after work.

The electronic character sheet has been updated. I'm still working on Powers and Creatures. After that I'll be working on Campaigns and Shared Settings for GMS and Players.. Once the groundwork is laid out for that it'll be time to smooth out the UI for ease of use.

The Electronic Character sheet now has a Dark Mode which although it looks great on the screen it'll eat up your printer ink!

A copy of SRD text will soon be available for all - I'm  just getting confirmation on permission of the text I was sent by @Neil last month. The text is broken up into chapters and easily "copypasta'd" to your project! It'll show up on the top bar as "SRD" sometime this weekend I bet - maybe later today.

I love me some "Lorem ipsum!"

Ha! You're right. I've got to fix that. Most of the time I use actual novel texts for SVG layout to be sure that nothing is getting lost (SVG paragraph word wrapping is tricky)

SVG is required as it's the easiest to make a PDF from and  to link up to JavaScript for the Electronic Character Sheet functionality 🙂

  3. Sorry to be so slow on the development of this and reporting my progress here, but so far everything you need to make a non-powers character should be getting pretty close to completion (bugs expected and some options may not be available yet, such as Sanity and Fatigue on the PDF character sheet).  Weapons, Armor, Equipment are all in.

Right now I'm working on an elegant way to have all the current Power Sets under one roof, as well as making it relatively easy to create one's own Power Set with powers. I'd like to have that Data Model finished by the weekend, but health this week may not get me there.

Screenshots for fun! Note the Cool, Futuristic Blue Theme!

The ORC states "Licensor hereby authorizes You to exercise the Licensed Rights in all media and formats whether now known or hereafter created, and to make technical modifications necessary to do so."

Does this mean I can post reformatted text of the rules on a website?

Yes. All text of the book with the exceptions listed on page 3 of the BR:UGE PDF. I'm copy and pasting rules verbatim for https://rpg-worlds.com as I have time to work on the app.

I expect that Chaosium will put up a web page of the SRD text in time. I bet they're crazy busy right now though with the release of Pendragon and all their other moving parts.

I’ve created an account. How do I access the content so far? Is this a standalone app or do I need to goth to another virtual TableTop to do this?  I don’t see anything on the site that can start anything.

Once you're logged in you should see a "My Stuff" menu item at the top. A submenu will appear below that once clicked. From there you can start working with the work in progress Settings and Characters area. There are buttons to add a new of each.

I will pay cash monies for this and continued development. 😄

Well, the good news is that all the basic stuff, albeit limited, will be absolutely no cost! I’ve not mulled over the details but you’ll get 10 free characters and three settings to build and share. If you want more, or if you’d like to have a campaign linked up to other folks characters, and have access to the virtual whiteboard (not quite a VTT, but I’m trying to get in contact with Choasium to tie into their rumored official VTT for syncing and exports).

Like my other project,  Savaged.us, my plan is this being us$30 annually

Where do you want how-to queries and/or bug-reports?

    Looking forward to it!

I anticipate making extensive use of this.

For now probably the Discord channel hosted by Star Anvil Studios. Link in the footer.

  8. Work is still continuing on https://rpg-worlds.com

    Next up: Professions then Powers

After that: Equipment, Armor, Weapons, etc.

...and after that: Testing testing testing.

... then finally the Campaigns feature.

Yes, your book will need a different title. But you can say your book uses the BRP system, and use the logo:

Is there any way Chaosium can provide us a high resolution (transparent) or a vector of this?

    TIA!

  10. @RosenMcSternExcellent!  Thank you! I'll  get on that as soon as I'm closer to completion with adding Skill Specialties to skills and make new screenshots.

@Dangermouse Feel free to @ or DM me here when you're ready for imports. I've got Neil at Chaosium's email address and will be contacting him as well with my intent for digital tool integration.

I'll waste no more space on this thread until I'm needed

    Thanks again!

I read it, and the topic here is Foundry VTT. RPG Worlds is a character/campaign creator that should be able to export data to Foundry and other VTTs. It is related, but it is indeed another topic. It is in no way a solution for the current problem of lacking support for BRP in Foundry.

As a Mod, would you mind creating a new topic for me and moving those messages into the new topic?

  12. 6 minutes ago, RosenMcStern said:

This is all very interesting, but it has nothing to do with Foundry or other VTT. Shouldn't you open another thread with Savage.us in the title?

Sure thing (except this has nothing to do with Savaged.us)! However, If you'd read the whole thread I started this in response to that I'm completely open for exporting characters and items straight to a VTT module and would be glad to help in any way facilitating that functionality.

    A question:
Will a GM be able to set a suite of "setting options" and then all the players run their character-creation via the GM's interface?
Or will each player need to set the correct "setting" values for themselves?

    Hmmm...  Also, an idea:
Given how multi-genre the core BRP engine is, will you have easy re-skinning options, so the sci-fi game can run a sci-fi skin, and the urban-fantasy can run a "modern" skin, etc?

Yes, that is exactly the plan. If a GM shares a setting in a campaign, that setting is “locked,” but if changes are made by the gm they “trickle down” on the next opening of the character be it by the GM or player.

I’ve already got color themes which semi-correspond to a theme background, but no plans immediately for a per-setting character creation. Perhaps for the shared campaign level. I’m working out the mechanics first. There’s a ton of toggles 😎

My own plans are to develop my project with all due haste.
I don't doubt that the ORC license will be in final-draft before my own 1st-draft is complete.

Chaosium is committing to their print edition with the promise that they will adhere to the licensing as it appears -- they cite Aazora Law as one of the locations to find the license, and GenCon's website as another, in addition to the copy they will host themselves.

It's like one of those bold offers from a faerie-tale king:  "Name your boon, and it shall be yours!"
Chaosium is being strikingly more trusting and generous and expansive than they were with their prior "BRP SRD" offering (a couple of years ago).

Is it a "bold" move, going to print before the ORC license if finalized, or the LoC assigns a number?  Kinda, yeah.
Is it a problem?   Well... not likely, not that I can see.  Only if they find something problematic in the final license.  I'm guessing they've got a solid idea of what that final will be, and don't expect a problem.

I agree! I love this dedication and ambition. It's the reason I'm working hard to get RPG Worlds out for us!

Creating a base BRP system under the ORC License will be fine.

I'll work our how we can help.

We do support free basic system versions for Call of Cthulhu and RuneQuest that we will contribute to and then work on value-adds like modules of our IP that we will sell.

Just to put this out there in the aether, I am toiling away at a BRP ORC system for Foundry in my free time, but I wouldn’t let that stop you from taking a stab at it yourself.

Having just bought the new BRP system and put a Rivers of London Fan/Unofficial implementation together I was turning one eye to a possible BRP implementation - so it's great news to hear that it's OK to do this under ORC (thanks @Neil)

But I wouldn't want to duplicate effort or step on anyone's toes if that's already underway - so if anyone is working on a Foundry Implementation please shout.

And for clarity - I am not a developer or a graphic designer so this may be pretty basic if I do this 🙂.  I do however like a challenge....

Get with me for an importer format (likely json) and I will export to it!

  16. Am I missing something? If a tiny halfling successfully grapples a giant robot (from a raised platform), and the halfling chooses to " Knockdown Target (Head/Chest/Abdomen): The attacker automatically overbears the target, dragging both characters prone. The target must make an Agility roll or suffer 1 point of general damage (or to a random hit location)." (p42)

How does Frodo knock down Ultraman? I understand there are some overbearing rules on page and the resistance table, but Rules as Read the robot is knocked down.

    Should this be clarified?

  17. Which is one of the many reasons I'm putting my foot forward to help drum up community interest in BRP as well. Savage Worlds is an awesome, fast RPG which is great for short campaigns or one-offs, but lacks a little in long term Campaigns. Between BRPs legendary campaign lengths and the ORC license I'm stepping in to fill a potential gap for us all.

I should have all the 'basics' complete (logins, registration, notifications, themes, etc) by the end of today or tomorrow, and then off to the Good Stuff™

I'm hoping to have something to show by the end of next week heath dependent.

The plan is to create a setting from the new BRP as a bunch of "toggles and switches" which one can share with those limits and items other folks to create their characters. The setting will have limitations of items available for the setting, and the ability to add items such as gear, weapons, etc. There'll be a shared chat page for premium accounts with a Dice Roller, image uploader, and electronic character sheets.

Speaking of electronic character sheets. Auto-checking of used skills (and the ability to uncheck of your GM declares it not enough to count as 'used'), and the ability to roll the Experience Check or roll your own die (with a history/log of what was rolled and when for each skill).

I'm really excited of what's ahead.

  18. TOTAL NEWB ALERT (but learning voraciously)

    (a) I believe so - you can use multiple actions as per p125 of the new BRP book. You'll use the Move the minimal 6-15 meters And then an attack action is taken at -5 your DEX rank, then use the inclusive 5 meter move back into cover  in the Attack action.

    (b) You could also could Attack with a 5 meter move to push out of cover attack, THEN use a Move action to run back behind or away from the returning fire. The Move action would be at your DEX, while your Attack and Fade will occur at DEX-5.

I'm not immediately reading a "Hold Action" or "Overwatch" for your enemies, so option A should be the safest.

Veterans: Please gently correct me if I'm misreading, misguided, or just plain wrong 🙂
