  1. I have a GPC with a PK playing Dame Temura from the 6e starter. She has Vivienne Du Lac as her leige so I'm sending her to brocilande forest in 486 while OTHER knights do the Sword Lake advenure. But what for her to do? elements in play/ Ideas I'm thinking of. Any advice. I want to try to keep it simple. The PKs will make new knights to accompany Temura while Temura does this, and Temura can make a new PK to play Sword Lake lover knight from Bath who wants to marry her (pagan, energetic, generous, modest, honest) Ruin of a roman temple to Mars Symbol of MARS! Vs a hand mirror/pools of the lakes. Vivienne du Lac Relation to Diana Pagan lustfulness and Dianas “virginity” Vivinne is magical but instead of changing into a goat like Merlin, maybe she seems ordinary and weak until channeling Pagan powers to put the sword through the lakes to hand off to merlin “Look at her with One Eye” A nunnery in Plouhel at the church of the Virgin Dance of Death + Ankou imagery Under some kind of physical threat that Knights can take care of The idea of testing Temura with gift-giving. VDL is giving gifts to local figures for goodwill Testing Temura’s Generosity and Pride Gift for the nun Gift for local lady? Gift for old roman pagan vassal (Mars worshipper?) Gift she can keep that tests Generosity. Testing Temura as a female knight Where are her skills in Industry? How will the Stewardship of the manors be accomplished Self-confidence or needing help (Pride/Modest) Farcical Aquatic Ceremony Merlin gets the sword at the same time. In Logres, a three eyed giant is fought. In Brittany: Three Eyed Women? test their compassion and nurture. Not literally: one woman with a missing eye. One with both = 3 So what is going on in Brocialande at the same time How do the knights factor in? How can this adventure MIRROR the events of The Sword Lake? Combat vs noncombat Giants and Nukulevee vs something weird but not too weird Shapeshifting Merlin: normal Vivienne
  2. Seeking advice: So 6e has changed the battle system significantly I think, and since i'm just starting the GPC I wanted to try using it for the first battle, the battle of Mercred Creek. I've also never run a Battle before but I've run Pendragon 3e and 4e some many years ago. The Original SetupPlayer’s Unit Size: 7 + player knights Unit Commander’s Battle Skill: 19 Length of Battle: 5 rounds Battle Size: Medium (2K-5k) Commanders King Uther (Battle = 19) Ælle (Battle = 17) Modifiers Uther has superior troops: +5 After the Battle Victor: None Plunder: None. Glory: 30 per round. Question: what does Uther’s Superior Troops do for the 5e battle and what would it do for the 6e battle? My understanding is for each round I roll on the Battle Enemy Table to get the opponents the Knights group will face. Each one gets one opponent, whether its a Ceorl with a spear or a Berserker. This seems to be changed in 6e where some weak enemies explicitly have 3x the numbers compared to the Knights. So there is a fair amount of risk of changing the balance of the battle enemies. But also, the PKs seem to get more choice of enemies depending on Battle rolls. The other difference is that in 6e you typically fight 2 rounds against your foe, whereas in 5e each of the Battle Rounds is one round of melee. So if I have the 6e Max Battle turns = 8 then there will be way more rounds of combat than in a 5e battle. I will set the length to 4 Battle Turns. Am I correct that a third difference is that the battle round fight doesn’t roll a full combat with damage to the foe, etc, but a simple weapon skill check vs the enemy? I need to decide “intensity” for the battle. Since this determines how likely it is that the PKs will get choice of opponent I suspect I will pick “10” For this experiment I think I will have 2 Ceorls for every knight. Four “cards” with choice of Greatspear, Spear, Bow, Javinilers Small Heorthgeneat contingent = 1 per knight. armed with greatspear 1 card, Armed with sword and spear 1 card, Armed with Bow 1 card. Veteran Heorthgeneat Warrirors 2 per as per the included "Saxon Warrior" battle card. Will use the Sheild Wall Tactic, since it looks interesting. No ransom Mounted Heorthgeneat 1 per. Ransomable? Berserker, no ransom. Small Giant only as an Opportunity. Will use the Capture Banner, Rally Division, and Fight Commander Opportunity cards. Reading the Battle Table and trying to understand the comment about Thegn leaders I understand now that in a 5e battle you get PK# opponents for the knights but one of them counts as a Thegn instead of a Heorthgeneat. Poor, I will assume if dismounted and Landed if mounted? Should the Landed also accept ransom? But why since these are evil saxons who show no quarter. Maybe I will make a test of Valor for Ransom checks if defeated. Saxons! Says saxons don’t accept ransoms. My research is mixed. Any advice you want to offer is appreciated.
  3. Why do the starter set characters seem to have movement rates that are roughly equivalent to the horses? The old calculation was a much lower rate. Are horses rates supposed to be multiplied by some kind of factor? for Trot/Cantor/Gallop? Also the design journal mentioned Did i miss something or are these rules not in the starter set? I can wait but I'm trying not to miss something.
  4. So just as I started a group on the GPC after having it unplayed for years, I get a copy of the Starter Set in the mail! The battle system seems to have changed a bit. Is there a simple guide for converting the expectations of the battles in the GPC (at least the first one) into the new 6e system?
