  1. An eminently reasonable position, given the delays. I'm holding this view as well.

In the "managing expectations" vein, I hope everyone realizes that it will almost certainly have some share of glitches and rules inadequacies, as all games do. It definitely won't please everyone completely, and will likely spawn as many houserules as it does lay them to rest.

Inevitably, several (not too few, but not too many) years down the line, BRP Revised (or BRP2) will address all of these issues and will be met with equal regard and disregard.

None the less it will be good to have all of what is in the 1st edition in one place.

  2. Sheesh. Way to crap on my happies. :(

I'm not trying to crap on your happiness in the least. By all means celibrate and enjoy! I'm glad your happy. I won't be joining you till it goes on sale though because I've got excited before about other books that were delayed for one reason or the other. That way in case it does get delayed due to the printer or some other reason I don't get let down. Don't get me wrong I want this book bad, just not gonna celibrate before it's out.

  3. How would you turn the stats in the GURPS supplement into BRP stats? Do you have any conversion rules?

I've tried to find the Space Gamer issue on Amazon but no luck;-(, so I'd love to read the article on Tschai again, after twenty years of remembering it wistfully.:ohwell:

Gurps Cthulhupunk has conversion notes from CoC to Gurps they are not that hard to reverse. Should be able to pick it up on Ebay or some used RPG shops on the web.

  4. I'm somewhat familiar with Brackett's work, but don't currently have copies (and alas, the Fantasy Masterworks line isn't easily available in the States).

Amazon has Sea Kings and otherworldy tales used. It's a good book. I would also recomend the Ginger Star trilogy that was collected in the Book of Skaith.

S.M. Stirling's Sky People is a good read as well. His next one, In the Court of the Crimson Kings, set on Mars is out around the begining of April.

  5. I'd like to see a basic bestiary with equal content for fantasy beasts, modern day beasts(regular animals and legendary beasts-think mothman, etc...) and sci-fi beasts/creatures. Giant animals/monsters would be great too. I would also like to see a big book just on prehistoric life like Gurps dinosaurs, however I'm not going to hold my breath for that one. I agree most animals/monsters should be in the setting books, but would like to see a general book.
