    Location: Chicago/Chicago West Suburbs

Running every 2 weeks at TPK Gaming in Glen Ellyn, IL. (great shop) Regular Cons are Gary Con (Lake Geneva, WI), Nexus Gamefair (Milwaukee, WI) and Gamehole Con (Madison, WI).

That being said - anybody near Dice Dojo on the north side of Chicago?  It's a phenomenal shop and I'd love to get a presence there - due to distance, I could get down there once a month without getting in trouble. :P  Anybody interested in co-running a Chaosium Cult of Chaos night there?  Incredible (and massive-huge) game store (check out my post on Trip Advisor ;) ) - we could probably really make a splash there with a regular presence.  Anybody in the area and interested?

    Lemme know - we'll scheme. :)

This has probably been asked/answered before but here goes - I'm in the midst of doing a post ATtH for my group (to see some of their shenanigans see some of my previous posts) and have thrown a zombie/undead fellow at them with a strange occult symbol on its forehead. The players have tapped a source (a professor at Miskatonic with some mythos knowledge) for a spell on freezing or temporarily holding the creature in place.

My question is thus, is there a spell I can adapt from the keepers guide (or previous editions that they can share) or does anyone have a spell they've created to do something something like that? I have a few ideas but I'm wanting to make sure I'm not making it to OP or anything...

Heya - a bit late on a reply, but what the heck if it helps.  Yeah, I'd just make one up or model it after something similar and adjust POW/SAN and affect times as you see fit.  You can just base it off of Dominate, Enthrall Victim or maybe even Voorish sign - make it only effective against the dead, or very expensive with after or adverse affects to limit it's use. It's all about telling the story - have fun! :)

  3. Heh - mine went crazy long - I'm a sucker for good roleplay.  Aside from the regular encounters - they VERY briefly went to the library and the church and pretty much only interacted with the doctor to get the vampire rumor - they did a bit of a side trek first excursion into the sugar maple forest and got a bit of a beating from some zoogs for a session...  With about 3 - 3 1/2 hour sessions, geese had to be about 8 sessions or so?  :P It was a GREAT run, and the players are chomping at the bit for more - really looking forward to Ep 2. When two "dead" characters walked into the Sheriff's Office with Blaine the players brains were doing flips. Great stuff....

  4. Hi all! Related - for Cons, does anybody have any ideas for perhaps having some simple bulk swag we can give to players?  Maybe providing the Call of Cthulhu bookmarks or something else cheaper (but definitely has to be "Mythos Cool" ;) - or Cult of Chaos cool for *Quest folks) that would give them something to think about Chaosium after the game?  Another thing I've been doing (albeit, not too cheap for me at one-off prices ;) ), I give away "For the Love Of...", Jon Hook's Miskatonic University Podcast scenario he ran at Gencon 2014 to the voted best roleplayer. (With his blessing of course :P ) Just thinking - maybe something like that - give away "demo" level printed scenario would not only make a "collectability" for the demo, but also encourage returning to Cult of Chaos games to get the scenario and put the itch in for more book sales.  Thinking it might be a nice thing to print yearly or something for Keepers to give away at the Cons.

    Chaosium folks?  Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

  5. Okay, read - I think it would be absolutely awesome to have a special logo for the Cult of Chaos - it would make it more recognizable as something Chaosium is putting efforts towards to interact with the community and I think it could really have some cool rewards... At a minimum, you'd probably have another merch revenue stream. :P

    My $.02.

Fun ending. A large group of players were traipsing around in the sugar maple forest looking for a missing companion, (who had been snatched into the Dreamlands), and they began to hear some buzzing all around them. They got scared and decided to leave and head back to the farm house. They got turned around in the forest, so it took them longer to get back than they anticipated; they also exited the forest in an area that they didn't intend to. It's now a couple of hours past sunset, and it's very dark outside. They need to cross a field of very tall grass to get to the farm house. As they do so, they hear more buzzing, and a white fog begins to form before them.

They freak out, and start to run around the fog. An athletic character was first to get a face-full of the Mi-Go spore gun, and he was out for the count. The other characters got his body, but they come face-to-face with two other Mi-Go. My horrific dice rolling ensured that they were able to escape with their lives. They even saved the jock... dang it.

The players and I had a great time! Great scenario. I'm reading up on the next chapter now.

Sounds like a ton of fun!  Just starting out my campaign and a session in - question.  So it sounds like you didn't do the "masking the Mi-Go" suggestion and the characters knew the Mi-Go were there?  Wow - sounds like full frontal Mi-Go, eh?  Pulp on! :P

  7. Hi!  Todd Gardiner actually allowed me and EddyPo to run Dead Boarder at Nexus 2016 (Milwaukee) and I ran it at Gencon - I have handouts with pretty pictures for the original 4 player release and the 6 player extended Gencon release.  I don't see it out there yet - when it does appear, I'll share that out for everybody if they would like to use them. There are both sexes of each character with cool pictures and naming board tents ready for lamination and dry erase.  (I laminate EVERYTHING for reuse. :) )

Anywho - Once it is released (and if Chaosium is okay with it - Todd should be familiar with my kit - please slap me down if that's not kosher :P ), I'll post them.

It's an incredible scenario with crazy events for a memorable time - much recommended!

  8. Hi all! I'm a bit late to this party, but what the heck. :P   I realized the craziness of the tons of NPCs for Ep 1 (we just started our first session a few weeks ago), and made some of my own NPC cards myself to help keep everybody in line. I'm still a little bird trying to fly with ATtH, so only Ep 1 for right now. :)

Includes all named characters to get friendly with the town, I believe. (Including the first expedition kids to keep everybody familiar. :) )

    Hopefully it will be useful!

    Thanks!
