  1. I still running a campaign that I started to start some friends into the runequest system at the beginning of the pandemic.
It goes without saying that we are still playing to this day, although they have been trapped in the underworld for a few months now doing a heroquest...
    Soo... 3-4 years ?

  2. With this I already have three different versions... and there is my problem...
and I think I have seen at least two other images that are also different.
I don't know which one will take the canon from the book of gods and goddesses.

  3. hello hive mind

On this occasion I come with the following question, what type of crown is the one owned by Shargash (Tolat) based on?
I can't find any images that clearly show the one he has, so I was looking through the ancient crowns that could have been used as a base, like the one Yelmalio has for example, I assumed that Shargash would have one as a base too.
Does anyone have any idea about this?

  4. I ran this game last week, and from what I thought or interpreted it, it has to do with the spirit of Demels, since it absorbs the Pow dedicated to the Cult of Ernalda, or associated rituals, so no initiations should be made for Ernaldites or Nandans possible, so the same result could be extended for young Orlanthis and Vingans

Phargentes was a "true Emperor", so son of Jar-eel, descendant of Yelm, and had completed the 10 Tests of the Emperor.  He had proven himself to carry the powers of authority, order, justice, etc. - everything you'd want in an Emperor.

Taking this fragment of the conversation for my own convenience, where could I find the 10 Emperor Trials?

  6. Since we are talking about snakes, does anyone know if there is more information in some lost corner about the "Deep Snakes" defeated by Babeester in "The Book Of Heortling Mythology" ?

Nope. They were pretty much a silly rules construction. There are diamondback rattlesnakes and pythons though!

Take them, add some chaotic features and voila Chaos Snakes.
If that doesn't convince you either you can always see the Stoorworms to take references.

You might check out the episode of Jeff Richard's White Bull Campaign where his PC's encountered Jar-eel in the Underworld.  They had to fight her, and Jeff told them roughly how powerful she was.  If I recall correctly, she had four weapons (four arms), each well over 100% and could split all attacks.

The general episode list is noted below, but specifically listen to Episode 28 on Youtube.  I don't recall how far in you have to go to hear the fight scene.

Well I just finished watching the episode of "White Bull" (I had it pending), and it really seems that Jeff has what I was looking for haha

Too bad you can only get some data rather than something more concrete.
But at least I'm happy to know that I'm going more or less in the right direction.

Of course, as mentioned, it may only be an aspect of Jar Eel, but it still helps this situation and gives one more element to play with in the campaign.

  9. I really appreciate all the opinions! They are really being very helpful.

As for why the players are somewhat overconfident, they are in a situation where narratively they must retreat and fail their mission, or fight against this demigoddess.
Some of them are already at rune levels, and with the use of things like sword trance they reach terrifying numbers. It is already a campaign for a few years, so it is normal that they have acquired many, many tools at their disposal.

I also agree with the image that no matter how powerful a hero is, in glorantha there is always a chance that he will fall, which includes Jar-Eel (as small as this possibility is).
I saw in some places what looked like stats for npc's like Beat-Pot and even Harrek. That's why I was asking too.
Obviously, I could take creatures or npj from Dorastor as a reference, and modify their magical characteristics a bit to be consistent with references to them from other systems and narratives. But even so, it would always be easier if there was already something basic.

Obviously, the ideal would be to use the new Heroquesting system, but not having access to it, improvising is still the way to go.

We have TWO sets of Stats for her:
    1. The White Bear & Red Moon / Dragon Pass stats
    2. The Arduin Grimoire stats (D&D like) which were included in "Wyrms Footprint"

Just to clarify I am talking about Statblocks compatible with the Runequest system.
I understand that some data can be useful to know some magical abilities or items (at least very vague descriptions) that he possesses, like the data that appears in "Wyrms Footprint", but in general it can only be applied as specific boons of the pj I think.

  11. Hello everyone

So for story purposes and obviously because weird things happen, because this is glorantha, my players ended up lost on a heroquest.

The thing is, they just met the Razoress herself... So I need to do stats for her... Because they recognize who she is but they still want to fight... And I'm not a big fan of "auto"%.
So, before we start this homebrew from scratch, is there a friendly soul who may have already done some of this?

  12. Now, going by this logic, Vamargic shouldn't be allowed to use spirit combat, but one of his abilities is that he can engage in spirit combat once per turn and has 187% spirit combat. If he's immune, does that mean he can attack this way and never take any damage from his immunity? And the target can only defend itself until finally falling from the accumulated damage or being able to escape somehow?

Another question would again be about magic resistance, assuming again that they can't resist it, and hypothetically there is a Humakite very eager to cast Severed Spirit on this particular target... would this mean a one shot kill for our beloved revenant with no chance at all?

  13. Well, the thing is... Vamargic.

Let's say he doesn't have his necklace, they destroy the thing, but he's still "alive"...let's call it he still moves, so there isn't 1 single point of POW or mp...and he still moves ...

So in short, if Vamargic doesn't have POW, magic points, or access to magic on the necklace, how do I handle resistance rolls for magic or spirit combat?

The discount code is emailed to you at the same time the print edition goes on sale. If you missed one, contact Dustin at customerservice@chaosium.com and he'll help you out.

I think we are not talking about the same discount. I bought the pdf edition of the Starter Set and now I wanted to buy the physical edition, but this includes the price of the pdf edition, I understood that once you bought the pdf there was a discount for the physical edition, but I can't find it.
Or maybe I'm wrong and have to pay full price.

  15. Hello everyone,

I remember that after buying a pdf edition there is some discount for the printed edition in the form of a coupon or something like that, but I can't find it anywhere, not in the list of purchased items or in the confirmation email.
Does anyone know where it may be?

Really one for the other forum, but there was a Waertagi population (known as the Blue People) that caused major havoc in Peloria during the Flood.  Castle Blue and Vyran are relics of their mythical kingdom.

Yes, yes, I know, this should be in the Glorantha forum, I realized very late, when I had already made the post. And I guess it's too late to move it.

The name appears only in the King of Sartar version of the Battle of Castle Blue (p.82 hardcover/pdf), reprinted verbatim in Book of Heortling Mythology (p141).

The description of the battle mentions

which is a clear allusion to the forces of the Sea Tribe.

That source also uses the name Elmal for the forces of Light on the other flank, which helps placing this document in pre-Monrogh Kethaela or southern Kerofinela, as use of that name would be anachronistic anywhere else.

The Sourcebook refers to this conflict (on p.143)

The version in the Redline History of the Lunar Empire, Zero Wane, (Sourcebook p.158f) has seen a considerable update compared to the early version in Wyrm's Footnotes 8 (p.15f), and mentions names introduced only in The Fortunate Succession and Entekosiad.

Fortunate Succession p43 introduces the name for that race of magical beings, the Veth Ethdisi.

TFS p.89 tells about Carmanos, who was born to Charmain (rather than Carman) and who retired to Castle Blue as an immortal.

The Entekosiad offers the story of the origin of Lake Oronin, the site of Castle Blue, but doesn't seem to mention the Veth Ethdisi, or any queen of Castle Blue, or the castle itself.

I don't think that the name Vyran is that authoritative. The same sources say "Jagrekriand" instead of Shargash or Tolat, and other such local names. Charmain (the name re-used in the Guide, rather than Carman) would be the queen and ancestress of the Castle people, who would be kin to the riverine Waertagi who created the Poralistor and Oronin rivers, and who imploded Mount Turos creating Lake Oronin.

The Veth Ethsidi are the inhabitants of the fading land that is Castle Blue and its suburbs of dome-shaped houses. A bit like a Brithos en miniature...

Unlike Old Brithos, which sent away all those of its citizens not conforming to the Taliban-in-Chief Zzabur, the Veth Ethsidi offered asylum to their mortal offspring in Carmania before abandoning the world (in a similar way as the City of Wonders has disappeared after the 1624 plundering by Harrek).

    Wow, Thanks, that´s really useful.

I was looking for specifics about Vyran itself but i assume that may be imposible, although it may be just another name of Charmain.

  17. Hello everyone !

    So this is today's topic.

My players are in the final act of the Smoky Ruins, deliberating on

    Spoiler

who they will present the mirror to. So some of them have allegiance to the Colymar tribe, but they say that giving the mirror to the temple of the earth would be the same as they have no specific allegiance to Queen Leika and both places are from the tribe.

So I remember, maybe a few months ago (I think) that Jeff posted a clarification on Facebook, saying that cults and temples don't really belong to a tribe, they are autarkic entities.

But I can't find the post among the dozens in the Facebook group.

So, technically, the cult of orlanth is a bit more involved in tribe politics than the earth temple, since its queen acts as the cult's orlanth rex, but this is not the case with the cult of Ernalda in the tribe of Colymar (Even though its members do belong to it). Which also explains the tension between both sides due to political influence, I guess.

  18. Hello, hive mind!

So maybe I made a corrupt and probably insane Wyter with random rolls.

And this little thing chose to have Telekinesis as one of his spiritual abilities.

And here is the real question, I know the description says that "The spirit has the STR characteristic, even when discorporate, equal to his POW. The spirit´s STR can project up to 10 meters or more", so how does this work ? mechanically, let's say which combat SR does it act on? Can it be considered as an attack or is it only used to throw things? or even better can it act in combat?

How do you rule it? and all his ramifications.
