Impello palma and the Damage Roll - question

We have a conundrum at my table. 
After casting impello palma shall we make a damage roll or not?
In Fireball description damage roll is mentioned, but in impello palma it is not. 
Can we get a clear ruling here?

From the spell description:

If used in combat, the spell is an attack and is resolved exactly the same as a firearms attack (Combat, page 123), with the attack roll (Firearms) replaced by the spellcasting roll (Magic). If successful, it inflicts 1 damage total.
