I'm pretty sure I have the RQ1 book around somewhere (Grey with brownish line art?). But I didn't actually play much of it until RQ2 came out, and I have a *lot* of RQ2 stuff. I think I bought the RQ3 book and (maybe) a few supplements, but never played it much. Still have my original RQ2 book, and I even bought the recent reissue RQ2 hardback.
RQ3 introduced Sorcery, right? I didn't much (and still don't really) care for it.

Thank you, David.
I know you posted this as an illustration of what a mammoth task and huge document this would be.....but that's exactly the sort of thing I was asking about and I think would be well worth the effort, maybe as a group community project given the size of the task. It would be an invaluable companion to the Red Book. It would obviously need to wait until the Bumper Book of Cults is available (sorry, I might have confused things by giving it the label of the previous Gloranthan classics publication).
Brent.
If spells were previously cult specific, like Attract Attention and Xiola Umbar I really doubt it will suddenly be removed from them and given to, say, Yelmalio or something. The RQC Cult Compendium should be a good starting point for a rough draft.

I commend hard copies, though: if you love RQ and Glorantha, the new edition books are just stellar love-letters to the game & the world!
I love books too. However, I've been collecting games and books and random misc crap since the mid 70's. I ran out of room for stuff ten years ago, and I'm contemplating a move to an even smaller place with less room for junk.
These days, 95%+ of my book purchases are ebooks. Notable recent purchases of dead tree books include the RQ2 Hardback, and the RQG starter set.

I will get the sourcebook for RQG and see if there are any Bestiaries or whatever. So in this same time-saving vein, expect to see a lot of "Refer to pXX in 'RQG book' for examples of this. For background/stock characters and situations. Since GMs of the system will mostly own those books anyway
Yes, there is definitely a RQG Bestiary, lots of good stuff in that one. You might want to take a gander at the Red Book of Magic too. It has a bazillion spirit magic and rune magic spells. Including a lot of the rune spells from the cults in the RQ Classic Pavis & Big Rubble and Cult Compendium books that aren't in the RQG main book.

As a potential customer, I agree. If I ever actually get an RQ campaign off the ground it will likely be Pavis based. It's been one of my favorite places ever since the original boxed set.

I would be more interested in a Caravanserai adventure base. A mine might be good for one or two adventure seeds.

That's one of the reasons I've been considering getting a dice tower. Let the players make the rolls, but have the dice exit on the GM side of the screen. Of course that will slow it down a lot on those "everybody roll" situations.

In fact, we've got Heortland/Hendrikiland complete and just waiting for editing.
Grazelands was underway but the author had some life issues and we'll have to see what can be done to get it moving again.
Finally, we have Prax and Esrolia books in the works and I just issued a contract for Lunar Tarsh.
Kralorela is done but needs some editing and a bit more work to get it framed in context with the rest of the game line, as it was done quite early.
Sounds good. Here's hoping the Prax book has more info on the minor tribes. I want to be a unique special snowflake (just like everyone else 🤣).
"We're all individuals!"
I did get the Rough Guide to Glamour and Citizens of the Lunar Empire from DriveThru RPG and those have lots of good info on the Lunartarians.

It looks like, for Quarries specifically, that the text price was changed to reflect the table price (in Wheels now), but the upkeep is only 1/3 as much now.

Before the plague, DunDraCon was over 1,000 usually. But not all that much over. They had just moved to a larger hotel in San Leandro for the '21 show, before it got cancelled. Last time I checked, they had one scheduled for '22, but I'm not going, even if they haven't cancelled it.
I've probably made at least 9 out of 10 DDC since 1978 though.

I mean, everyone in Prax is always raiding each other for herdbeasts to eat anyway, it doesn't set them apart all that much from their neighbours.
I'm assuming also that the Unicorn Riders aren't part of Waha's covenant, so they can eat and herd whatever they want.
Well, the main book says the minor tribes use Peaceful Cut. So not entirely outside the covenant either.
-
What do they eat? I'm guessing not the Unicorns.
Do they "borrow" herdbeasts from other tribes? Cattle or sheep? Wouldn't that make them even more unpopular with the other tribes?
Is there any other information on their tribe existing or planned? Beyond what was in the Pavis & Big Rubble and Cult Compendium books?

If you don't have a Quarry, it reduces the income of the hide of land by 15L anyway. I would think that if the table cost to build is 10x too high, the maintenance is likely 10x too high as well. A 50L fee to avoid a 15L loss doesn't make sense, but 5L maint still leaves a 10L gain.
I'd look at it as guidelines for somebody who seriously wants to play Lord of the Manor. Put in a quarry at the cliff, and use the stone to build a bridge across the river, then a road to the nearest major market to drive trade to their caravanserai, etc, etc. Basically Farmville, Glorantha edition. 🙂

Are you going to make a bundle for the '21 MotM like you did for '20? I only bought a couple of them last year, but I can't resist a bundle. 🙂

Actually, I highly recommend getting whole the Cult Compendium from DriveThru RPG.
All four of the Gloranthan Classics volumes are really great stuff.

We mostly played Melee (proto GURPS I believe) back in the early '80's. All I ever saw were mimeographed pages about character creation. I've never set eyes on the actual rulebook. But even that was a vast improvement over D&D.
Runequest was around but it took us awhile to warm to the idea of ongoing plots and characters.
Kinda sorta proto GURPS. Melee was designed by Steve Jackson and published by Metagaming. When Metagaming went under, SJ was able to pry loose the rights for Ogre/GEV but not Melee/TFT. So he implemented a new design of GURPS that coincidently looked a bit like Melee. It came out in ~76 or maybe a little after, because the aforementioned "Chess Club" I was in played it between games of D&D sometimes.
Just a couple of years ago, the rights reverted to Steve Jackson, and a new editions of Melee, Wizard, The Fantasy Trip and most (all?) of the supplements have been re-issued by SJ Games, with good old pocket boxes. Or ebooks if you roll that way.

This looks interesting. I think I've probably got the GM'ing part reasonably figured out, I've been doing it since '75. But I'm interested in the part with GM RuneQuest using the Roll20. I've been pondering switching to some sort of VTT. And who knows, I might learn something new after all.
I noticed in the 2nd post, they link to your Call of Cthulhu package for Roll20. Is there any chance of a RQ package?

I was in High School in '78 and our Chess Club had morphed into a D&D club. Then one of my friends and I went to DunDraCon at the Dunfey Hotel in San Mateo, CA. Pretty nice, although funds were limited. The first night we crashed at a nearby cheap motel. The second night, we'd spent all our money. Mine was on Runequest, Tunnels & Trolls and Black Box Traveller. So we stayed up all night playing in open gaming (and snuck in a quick nap under the table at one point). Of those three games, I liked Runequest the best, but we ended up playing Traveller the most, until the next year when I went off and joined the US Navy.
I've still got all three of those original books around here somewhere. If I was going to play RQ Classic though, it would be the second edition. I've still got quite a few old RQ source books and packs, including my favorite, Trollpack.

That's an Avalon Hill title. Does Chaosium even have the rights to reprint that?

As with all Chaosium books, if you buy it from a friendly local game store that participates in the Bits and Mortar scheme, the store will send you a free PDF of your purchase on request.
Well, according to the Website, Black Diamond Games in Concord, CA is a participant. I'll have to check back with them when it comes out.
I've been accumulating game stuff for 45+ years now. Almost all of my purchases are ebooks these days because I don't have much room for anything else. I'll make room for this one though.

Rune metal spears
in RuneQuest
Posted
OK, when you create an enchanted rune metal weapon, like a sword, and it gets broken, then you have to re-enchant it after you fix it?
What about spears and suchlike weapons where the most likely part to get broken is the shaft? Do you still have to re-enchant it after you put the head on another stick?
