Profile says UK. However likely depends on what's open where you are. Where I am, nothing - local printers and office services are shut down. I'd send it to a friend who has a decent printer and get them to mail it to me, I'm in the same boat, I only have a black and white laserjet.

Yea I'll probably do this too. And yea - UK.

  2. Hi. My Shaman player is frustrated that the Humakti is getting all the fun. Can you guys recommend any published scenarios, old or new, that will bring the shaman's role and abilities to the foreground? Thanks!

I totally understand what you are saying and as an owner of all the varieties available I will respectfully disagree and say I truly love and prefer the original (despite fact that the binding has bow fallen apart and the pages are now kept in a three ring binder). Now, that being said, getting the original will probably cost 100s of dollars so do not listen to the old crotchety barbarian. No, listen to reason—and Thaz...

Well I will be going for a PDF so price isn't an issue! What is different about the original that makes it better? I do prefer the cover but since I'm getting a PDF that doesn't really matter.

  4. Thanks again for all of these excellent comments! I was late to the party in getting RQG and I think it's totally, stunningly excellent! The option we chose was just to make up a Spirit Cult for prax (using Oakfed as a template) and she is getting some Rune Magic from that, rather than joining Daka Fal - as she wasn't really into the whole Ancestor thing and obviously can't join Waha! Her first adventure will be her conflict with Bad Man as the adventurers are going to start off fairly high powered. So she will be a full shaman.

  5. In the Occupation section of RQG there are various cults listed for the Assistant Shaman occupation (ie Daka Fal). Does this mean the Shaman character can be an initiate of a cult (thereby gaining the cult rune magic) as well as taking on the traditional powers of a shaman? It seems quite "over powered" that a shaman can get all the Daka Fal ancestor goodies on top of all the typical shaman goodies. Or is the best way to ignore the cult suggestions for the occupation and just wing it with the Shamanism chapter as I create the character? I'm aware that Daka Fal is a "shamanic style" cult but the player wants to be a traditional shaman (as per the Shamanism chapter of RQG) - so I'm wondering if she can be in a cult AND be a typical shaman?

    Thanks for any hints!

  6. Rush are the only band that stayed with me since childhood! All the others have appeared and then dropped away. All three of them forsook the typical rock star image by being very sweet people. They are like the Rock version of Nintendo! To me, Neil Peart was the front man. I love them all but he was 50% of Rush.

The Smoking ruins map is the same style and degree of detail as the Clearwine map that is both in TSR and in the Gamemaster Screen Pack.

Since the scenarios in TSR build upon the Adventure Book in the Screen Pack, I would advise you to start with that. There is enough duplication of information from the Adventure Book that you can play TSR without the Screen Pack, but having both will improve the Colymar experience (especially the first scenario) greatly.

It is possible to anchor the TSR scenarios elsewhere (e.g. in Wintertop Fort) if you don't want to play in the Colymar tribe again and again. Other than the Colymar and the DInacoli tribes, little has been explored of Sartar in official publications, and not that much outside of those. Barbarian Adventures and subsequent scenarios in Sartar Rising didn't dictate your tribe, but delivered little local detail as a consequence. The sample scenarios in Hero Wars and HQ1 have hardly any localisation, either (which makes them useful for the GM, but not as a source of local detail). The renowned Lismelder campaign of the Tales crew played in another odd-ball tribe of Sartar. The Jonstown description in the upcoming Glorantha starter set will be the first official RuneQuest gaming material set in a typical part of Sartar, rather than a traditional or Wild West one.

I have little hope that we will get house-to-house level descriptions of Jonstown as per Pavis (or the Midkemia-Press city modules including Thieves World) in the official releases. But maybe there is a way to provide such via the Jonstown Compendium.

Wow thanks for all that detail! So both supplements go together in a   kinda mini campaign. So I will aim to get both, starting with the Screen Pack. Thanks!

  8. Can anyone with this PDF answer whether this is a broad overview of the Ruin with scenarios set inside (ie Big Rubble) or whether it is a full description including a room by room guide (ie Snake Pipe Hollow)? I mean....... i'm probably gonna get it at some point either way but I'm trying to decide between this and the Gamemaster Screen Pack for immediate purchase!

To be honest, I know some people hate the cover. But I have never understood the hatred.

It's a bold, colorful image of Arthur welcoming the reader to Camelot. For me it works great.

Fair point! I have to admit that I have not liked ANY of the Pendragon covers except for the first edition! So I am probably quite picky! Though third edition KAP is definitely my least favourite of the lot! I was quite young when I first bought KAP 3 and there was definitely a cringe factor whenever i saw the cover. But, as you say,  the internals were absolutely golden!

An open letter to Ray Turney

Really sorry to hear about how a young fanboy's hero got laid low Mr Turney. I am hoping that @MOB can relay this missive to you (and I am sure the feelings that follow are not mine alone) and let you know how saddened the news of your stroke made me. Now, the picture above tells me things, well, work... I am gladdened to see you well enough to enjoy other heroes of my youth in your company enjoying a game you helped create, that I have enjoyed many a time. Fantastic! May all your rolls be critical and what few fumbles you make (if any) be the thing of legend!

    Thanks for decades of gaming!

Ray Turney, Steve Perrin and Greg Stafford created something that had a more enduring influence on me than any of my rock heroes. Probably more of an influence than Tolkien himself! Heroes indeed!!

It's well worth noting that art -- and the goodness or badness thereof -- is a very subjective thing, the definitional instance of "a matter of taste."

Whether I like it, or don't; whether you like it, or don't; whether either/both/neither of us agree with the broader viewing (and buying) audience, or the hordes of Critic/Barbarian multiclass'es, or the artists themselves... really has very little bearing on whether it's good, or bad... or badly drawn.

    😁

That I like a piece means no more or less than that I like that piece.  Or dislike.

Yes! It is perfectly acceptable that you like, or dislike, this badly drawn picture of a troll.

    Dobyski with colour added. 😈
