  1. when I created a character for one of my player (he was from Old Tarsh), I was confused.

Year 1597, participating homeland : Esrolia, Grazelands, Lunar Tarsh, Sartar

    But lower you have :

    Year 1597 Events
    Modifiers:
Grazelands, Old Tarsh, Prax: –5 to D20 roll

Prax and Old Tarsh is not in the list of participating homeland.

    What should I do?

  2. And another point: the Daughters of Menena of Talur is a groupe of powerfull sorceress that fought the Fonritians. If I understand it well, they are not at all Sedalpists as they fought. I like the idea of bad ass female sorceress in a world of 'peacefull' wizard!!!

  3. While reading the GoG, I saw that in Umathela, the malkionist are mostly Sedalpists. And this is very close to the Talar on the Brithini (cannot carry weapons)

Also, In Talur, there is a sect of 'Daughters of Manena'. In the Britini Society, the Menena is the woman's caste.

Is it just 'luck' or is the link between the 2 cultures stronger than I thought?

    • Thanks 1
  4. In the Glorantha Sourcebook, they speak about the Tamali

'The Tamali were a cross between a band of Dehori and Tilnti.'

It seems that they are more like the Britini. But never heard of them

  5. Hi,

I plan to play next weekend a RQG scenario. Rulewise, it is based on RQG and if something is missing, then I'll use RQ3

But I have few questions that ight be answer (and I don't care if they are not 'official'

    • How do we determine the spiritual damage. We have an example from the PC, but no rules.
    • I also have some question about parrying with weapon and shield. If the shield parry is successful against and special attack, the shield receive the special damage. But what if critical attack? Is the rule the same for parrying with a weapon? I would say yes and the shield is just better because it can parry missiles
    • And concerning the shield vs missile, it is not clear (to me at least) : when it is said that a small shield protects only the shield arm, does it mean that a successful parry is useful only if the hit location is the shield arm?

    Thanks

  6. As I want to create Aldryami characters, they should have a strong link with the plant rune (at least some of them).

If I lok at the rune tree, as it was done for humans, I don't see this rune. I imagine that I should replace the Beast rune by the Plant Rune.

Also, in the RQG Quickstart, the Plant rune is not there. What could be the associations for the plant rune?

  7. I'd like my player to participate to the (Pamaltela) Aldryami spring 'heroquest' where they beat the winter (and the mountain snow as the forest is beside a mountain) and allow the spring to come.

Any idea on how the 'myth' should be structured? I'm not a myth specialist, but I want something nice and divers.

I'd agree, but I think Elves need a lot more 'love' mechanically in terms of the *actual* advantages they have in their forests.  I think a lot of it is implied in lore, but hasn't been laid out in rules (I haven't read the MRQ Aldryami books, so maybe much more is already there.)

It is exactly what I meant. Uz are well described in the RQ rules (whatever the version). Aldryami have poor description. If I want to play a band of elves on a mission and they meet Uz, it will be a tough challenge (Rule wise). Uz with 1 natural armor, 2-4 armor plus a protection spell is nearly unkillable

But thanks for all the good ideas. Food for the brain

well there are a lot more Uz than Aldryami so perhaps the trolls are winning!

From the guide, there is more than 8 millions elves and less than 4 millions uz...

  10. Elves and trolls are known to be ennemies. They fight each other very often

but in a rq point of view, how can elves win battles against trolls? Trolls are very strong, good armour, stealth,... elves are weak. What makes the elves good enough to win against trolls?

  11. if I simplify a little, Umathela is Malkion/Orlanth (Orlanth mainly on the battle field) and Fonrit is Chaos (or Chaos friendly).

The conflict is territorial (as in the Season wars), but also religious? Is Fonrit seen as 'Chaos' for the Orlanthists? (a little bit like the Lunar were invaders but also 'Chaos related'). the Slave (Fonrit) vs Freedom (Umathela orlanthists) is obvious.

Is there Uroxi in Umathela? Because there is not big Chaos nest close by (except maybe Fonrit)?

The Vadeli and the Cult of Silence.  Perhaps Ompalam too.

From a 'gamer pint of view', what is the Vadeli school? I have never seen any info on the Vadeli school of magic. Do they have casts?  What are the relationship with other casts? And non Vadeli? What are their belief?... Well, anything I need to role play a little bit ;)

Cult of Silence? I didn't know it was a school as such. I didn't see it as related to Malkion.

Ompalam cults aren't they more 'theists' than 'Western'?

A couple of others are mentioned in the Umathela section.  The daughters of Menena Guide p641 and the Son of Chaos p633 (although I feel the authors missed a chance to call him Demogorgon because the original was a Christian author's mispelling of Demiurge).  I daresay there's a few other unnamed cults but none are so widespread as the Sedalpists.   The section on the Sedalpists (Guide p623) mentions a post God-Learner esotericism which if still around be considered an alternative.

OK, you mean a lot of small sects. But no Hrestolism, Rokarism, ...

I'm not actually sure they have thanes.  But even assuming you meant people of similar social roles.

In Umathela, everybody would believe that the Invisible God exists.  Worshipping him is something else and that's generally done only by the wizards (Seshnela and Loskalm which try and ban the worship of other gods are exceptional).  So the real marker of whether somebody could be considered a Malkioni is whether or not he supports a wizard or practices caste.

Not actually Thanes? Did the orlanthist of Umathela forget all their Orlanthist ways?

But they still worship Orlanth, Ernalda, the Lightbringers,...?

  13. I love the discussion about Mythical Pamaltela, but I like more 'mundane' information... ;)

In Umathela, the main Malkion School is Sedalpism. But is there other school present? On the barbarian villages, are the Thanes Henotheist?
