Didn't realize it was going to be that big, given that the 2010 release was 248. They're really doubling the page count?
Hopefully!

Masks of Nyarlathotep, the greatest Chaosium campaign of all time!? The bigger the better.
Love the cover art by the way...

Two books, twice the material, two great covers? What the hell's not to like?!

I would go further. Given the Duffer Brothers' love of role playing, their inclusion of D&D as an ongoing plot device in the series, and their mention of Lovecraft, there is no conceivable way that Chaosium's Call Of Cthulhu game itself wasn't THE major influence on Stranger Things.

Not sure how that was irony. And thanks for clearing up the bleedin' obvious.

Based on current books I'd say it will be on good quality paper, hardback and run to about 200 pages with full colour illustrations. No idea of when though.
Well, that's a given... I was wondering whether Chaosium might make it a larger tome, potentially a standalone game that can slot neatly into CoC.

Could you give us just a little bit of info: projected date, format etc? Pretty please...

That's great news. Looking forward to more details when you have them.

Does anyone know if there is a new edition of the Dreamlands book planned as a companion for 7th edition?

(Hey, that was my 1000th post...)
Sure thing, but we'll be interspersing any major reprints with plenty of new product.
No remastered Shadows Of Yog Sothoth, the venerable original?

I enjoyed WHFRP 1st Edition immensely.
WHFRP 2nd Edition did Magis better than 1st and was all in all more balanced - but they neutered in some point by making more "political correct" (What was wrong mit "von Krieglitz-Untermensch"?) and generelly a more streamlined background and rules system came with a notion of taking things to seriously. I liked the gritty and tacky feel of the 1st Edition.
WHFRP 3rd Edition was not my system at all (though I bought quite a lot of it anyways), being to fidgety and boardgamy with all the tokens and funny special dice that were quite expensive, too.
So, I am hoping that I can withstand the urge to by this edition (FAT chance at that!) but
ifWHEN I buy it I hope for something that simply leaves out 3rd and goes back to the gritty, wacky feel of the simpler 1st edition - with working magic rules and a kiss on the cheek and kick in the behind to game balance, PC and all the rest that made 2nd such a "serious" game but maintaining the deeper background 2nd provided.Oh yes, and nix the "Storm of Chaos" and give me my Empire back that is threatenend from the outside but really rotting from within! And make it whacky: Make the Imperial Chancelor Gerhard Merkel, name the mayor of Betonnia's capital Macronne, give me a bombastic ass-headed Chaos-Knight Tonhald von Trumpf as a villain etc. THAT is MY Warhammer!
This is EXACTLY my view. Do you mind if I quote this on the WFRP forums?

I didn't know abou the "different rules"-thing. Hmmm ... paint me sceptical.
Given the totally different environment and power levels, I think different rules are appropriate.

The 'new' Pavis book needs the companion volume. Some firming up of (even an estimated) release date would be appreciated.

Trust me, I gave up holding my breath a long time ago.

But that was a year and a half ago. And there is no current mention of the book.

What happened to the Big Rubble book?

What happens if there is crossover - eg someone wants to write Big Rubble (a la HQ Pavis) for HeroQuest, someone wants to write it for Runequest? Now that you have two systems covering the same milieu, is there a priority at Chaosium?
-
What is the deciding factor in whether to produce a sourcebook or campaign as a HeroQuest item or as part of the new RuneQuest line?

I would like to see a bumper deluxe and revised Masks for 7th edition.
Something like what was done to HotOE. Without the administrative meltdown obviously.

If only there were some people around with a mechanism for designing such a game.
Quite.

Will the other HQ books (Pavis and the Sartar books) be back in physical print at that time?
Also I noticed that the books are now hardbacks. Will these other HQ books be getting the hardback upgrade as well?
