  1. Hi

Is there a intro adventure for HQ/G that people could recommend? I only have 2 players, of which one has played a little Fate with me. I bought the New Beginnings adventure but now I am older and wiser realise that it's not for this rules system so could have inaccuracies. It would be great if there was one for The Coming Storm as that is where we are going.

ps; I may have missed one as I am still soaking like a sponge.

  2. I just wanted to point out why I was drawn to the setting.

Long time gamer since the 70's. On a recent discussion with the developer on The Blade of the Iron Throne forum, we were discussing the funnel that the big rpg titles and fiction were taking gaming as acceptable/sellable. He mention Glorantha and I was remembered of the pathetic collection I owned. Glorantha and games like Talislanta, maybe SkyRealms of Jorune etc that push the imagination back into our hobby. I recently backed another game called Upwind that seems to fall under this umbrella. So my point and my vote was to see some exsotic location not more blah mainstream easy.

  3. Thanks

I got the maths for making distinguishing char a plus 4 for a breakout as normally it has 17 and a normal breakout is plus 1, with new abilities starting at 13 hence the 4 difference.

Some of those supporting characters are powerful and the text seems to mention a limit to Keywords on pg 36. Only 2, a occupation and a cultural, although it does use ambiguous text like 'will have at least' but does not mention what the other could be. Surely there must be cap for a starting level char and you can't just make relationships a keyword.

So what is to stop every power gamer from having a Follower, so long as they write the pc background to cover it.

Just trying to get under the hood and understand how it's designed because I know my players are going to, and even with a narrative system they are going to look for rules with no loop holes. To be consistent.

  4. You old hands are probably sick of these questions.

Getting my head around the rules.

I have a note in my book that a Distinguishing Char. gets plus 4 as a breakout ability, correct?

Choosing an ability on pg 45, has new starting at 13. Some of the Relationships are very powerful, looking at companion for example. Looking at the example character on pg 53, it would require a roll on 13 to use the companion correct? Its just that I don't see that listed on the example.

probably have more questions, but really liking where the rules are taking me. If anyone has further help or suggestions on Character Building, to help speed up the learning curve, I would be interested.

    Thanks

  5. Sorry I was not clear; you got them emailed to your email address?

    I assumed they are a printed - paid mag? I could not see a pdf option, but I could not understand the page after;

Ordering, Distribution outside of Finland is handled through Tradetalk. In Finland, you can buy the magazine from Fantasiapelit or order it directly from us.

I tried the order link but I was having trouble with the language, do you have an address that you used?

    Thanks

  6. Thanks that is very good to know. Sorry about the thread hijack!

My gaming group in Darwin with a small population has been down to one player for a few years, we have just found another tentative player.

My original player is very tricky, extremely intelligent IT/computer geek who has never read a fiction book. He has only watched movies and series. He likes a good story with twists but with games like Fate for example, he has no skill in even thinking of a new situational aspect by himself. In trying to get him to do this and engage with the narrative results in stop-start gaming. He can game Harn and traditional styles of games ok, still sitting back to have the story come to him. He is not lazy or not interested, he just does not have the grounding that most gamers have from books. He is willing to go out side his comfort zone and experiment with new games, but most of the work comes from me. Its like he can't think/react fast on his feet. I don't know what I would do with if I found a player who was actively driving the story...

  7. Thanks for that.

I can bend either way but I may have problems with my players, who are not the most interactive bunch. We have tried some Fate and it was a struggle. I am a bit over the grit having gamed Harn for many years and loong combats. Although Harn is not too bad but is gritty, its the games with hit point attrition and taking an hour to get to the same point in the narrative that can be done in 5.

  8. You are right, I can probably deal with it, its just really handy to find a unified errata/clarification document. I bought the hardback from Chaosium and the pedigree of Mr Laws, not expecting to read the frustration by long time users. Its a bit off putting and will probably steer me to using RQ2 that I also got as a ebook.

At least I would have expected the company to put together a thread of fix ups, but if I read correctly this has not happened.
