  1. I just remembered this blog entry from last summer announcing the release of Arthur the Soldier by Chris Gidlow, which is to be the relaunch of the Pendragon fiction line.

Since it wasn't released in November, I was wondering about the current status of this book. Amazon is listing a July 2024 release here.

Or did I just miss an announcement?

  2. I was looking over the pinned thread for Starter Set errata, and noticed this in the initial post.

We will delete reported items as we review them, so if your post gets deleted it's because we've dealt with it.

Is there a compilation of all the errata discovered so far? I'd love to be able to print a copy and slip it into my copy of the starter set.

You can get it print on demand at drivethrurpg but it's a bit pricey at $75.

Also, if you're looking to pick up The Great Pendragon Campaign, buy it on the mobile version of the site. For some reason the hard back version still appears for sale that way, but not on the desktop site. I can confirm I got it this way.

I wish I had known this before I bought it on eBay! Darn...

  4. Regarding the art: I don't have a problem with what has been revealed so far. I'm sure there will be a variety of styles. One artist I hope they include is Eric Hotz. He's done a lot of RPG work over the years (Ars Magica for instance), and can draw like a medieval artist who happens to live in the 21st century! Here is an example. Check the rest of his site for many other excellent pieces.

EDIT: Actually, Eric Hotz did multiple illustrations for 5th edition. I guess I didn't need to point him out to anyone here! He is a great artist though.

A question. When I look at the art this seems to be much more of a 13th century medieval time than the dark ages 6th century. I know that many movie adaptions of Arthur uses color and armor from the 13th to 14th centuries. But when you read the best books they are much more dark, gritty and "dark ageish".

The primary source for all versions of the game is Mallory's Le Morte D'Arthur, with Chretien de Troyes' poems running a close second. The 13th-century anachronisms laid over the "historical" Arthur are quite intentional.

  6. Has anyone compiled a list of gaming magazine that have publish KAP articles over the years? I bet there is a wealth of resources out there. Assuming such a list doesn't exist (correct me if I'm wrong), I'll post one to start.

    - White Wolf Magazine issue 37: "The Treasure of Galilee", an adventure for Chaosium's Pendragon by Paul Cockburn, p. 8

This is available as a PDF on Drivethrurpg. Is it appropriate to past a link? If so, I will edit the post to include it.
I will compile and keep a list from what everyone else contributes.

All the thanks are due to my amazing players, who write up their own stories.

It's a highlight of my week reading them too. 🙂

This is amazing. Are your players all Oxbridge-educated medieval scholars or something? They are definitely setting a high bar!

I agree with the stance in 5.2 and use Sir for all knights regardless of gender.

I think I would go with that. Me support for it comes from that cornerstone medieval English text, uh, Star Trek. Seriously, I like how they call all officers "Sir". To be fair, I would discuss the issue with players first and probably go with what they preferred.

  9. I'm really happy about women knights being a central part of the rules. Almost all of the groups I've played in have included women, so it's important to me that games be inclusive. Also, there is no one true Arthurian story. Why not a variant with women knights? Now I am inspired to shake off my pandemic stasis, get out there and find a group. After it's safe again, of course.

Edited to say that the art is really good!

  10. I have no server space to offer, but I am really looking forward to your annotations. I recently bought the first three Fantagraphics hardcovers. I just wish they would bring their Definitive Prince Valiant Companion back into print!

Please let us know when you are able to get your rewritten annotations online.
