Hi guys, need your opinion again 😄

We plan to elect a Yinkin priest as our clan leader. What do you think of it? Is it mandatory to have a Orlanth Rex worshipper as leader ? He can eventually have Orlanth Rex as subcult.

As far as I have understood, Clan leader automatically becomes member of Orlanth's Rex subcult.

oxbow lake here.  I am familiar with the word billabong but didn't know that was its meaning.

    Same for me.

For information, in french, the correct term is 'bras mort'.

We are now clan leaders of a new clan based on former enslaved Dundealos and a new territory.

I suppose 'Les enfants de la flamme'.

Can we belong in both clans ?

Normally, no. You can have loyalty to several clans or tribe, but you belong only to 1.

If not, do we have to remove our Ernaldori tattoos ?

No, especially if you keep a loyalty passion to the Ernaldori. If asked, you just answer this is your birth clan but you now belong to another. If just for marriage, changing clan is common.

Is it possible to have our new clan join Colymar even if the territory is not close to Colymar (Like Alaska belongs to the US 🙂) ?

Nothing in the tribes forbids a territorial discontinuity. This is a matter of loyalty, not of contiguous territories. Corsica is not contiguous with metropolitan France, but is a part of it (and Algeria was), and left arm islands are not contiguous with the holy country but part of it, usw. On the contrary, Upland marsh is inside the kingdom of Sartar, but not part of it, like Vatican or San Marino for Italy.

Yes.  You can only have one allied spirit, but you can have bound spirits up to your CHA limit.

Yes, and as far as I have understood, the allied spirit does not count for the CHA limit.

We had people casting Fanatism on opponents to keep them from parrying and casting defensive spells.

Especially efficient on mounted opponents, because most of them will not benefit of the increased attack roll. This one is an old RQ classical trick (I think it was in Runemasters).

on a similar subject, how do augments interact with the minimum 5% chance?

Suppose you are so outclassed that your base chance of success is -10%, giving you the 5% minimum. Will a successful augment of 20% increase the chance to 25%, or does it run off the base, and so you now have a 10% chance?

A combination of ritual practice and augment could hit 90%+, so against a powerful opponent this is a huge difference!

I would say it would bring you to original chance +20%, with a minimum of 05%, so in this case 10%.

Or just have broad base skills with specialties, like in Trudwang (but with just one specialization level, not two), or Revolution D100.

Skill Transfer has the problem to make learning multiple skills useless, which is IMHO not wanted.

Or having same skill for categories, like in RQ3 (1H sword, 2H sword,...).

Hi, one of my players want to be a Pavis survivor Tribe member, I have no info, so I plan to use the Pol joni homeland cultural skill bonuses, change praxian for old pavic, horse for zebras and swords for axes.

Does Anyone has a better idea?

    Thanks

Seems OK for me, but why axes instead of swords?

The only qualification I’ll make is that the +25/+10 personal interest bonuses aren’t allowed to take a skill past 100 including manipulation bonus.

    Correct.

Ah, Humakti yes. I discounted that for the same reason you give, and you shouldn't have to be a Humakti to be a warrior.

    No need: Base 15% + Culture 15% + Occupation (warrior) 25% + Free Skill Points 25% + Manipulation 15% = 95%

You can buy those RQ2 books as pdf:s or print on demand at the Chaosium webpage. They are hard to find on the site but you write "Pavis", "Rubble" or "Borderlands" in the search field.

I know, but I already have them (purchased from Esdevium games some 40 years ago).

What I explained is that for french players, who for most of them discovered RQ with Oriflam's RQ3, those have never been available.

But you dont need "River of Cradles" if you own the Pavis and Borderlands books.

This is a big if. RQ2 books were very hard to obtain in France, and almost none of my fellow RQers has any of them. In addition, You would get the campaign, which is present nowhere else.

If (a certain if) Chaosium needs to prioritize I really want them to speed up the process of publishing new source books and the GMs Guide with hero questing rules. That is much more important than republishing Renassaince books.

    Completely agree.

don't forget the >100% skill rule

    so at the end of the day it is not [200% - (n * 20% or 10%) against a 100% opponent's skill  ] but [100% - (n * 20% or 10%) against a 5% opponent luck]

the >100% skill rule seems to me a good way to accelerate the fight  :  there is a no match between a master with 200% against 5 average guys with. 50%. you don't even have to try to parry

your art is enough to not let opportunities to be touched by low levels (with any stacking debuff, -20 or -10)

against your range opponent (200% against 200%) that becomes a 100% versus 100%  then there is a difference between the -20 and the -10

If you have a big gap of skill (like your 200% vs 50%), yes, this will speed up the fight, but we don't care because it is already short, and it removes the threat of numerous trollkins (or ducks, or whatever).

If skills are close (like 200% vs 190%), this rule slows down the fight because it lowers the probability of specials and criticals.

It’s worse than I feared then. At least in RQ3, you couldn’t parry with a one handed weapon you had attacked with, and vice versa.

You could (with the official errata), but not in the same SR.

Has any group given the Ally Spirit a gift and geas, if they are from Humakt, Yelmalio, etc.?

We decided to skip it, but some (about half?) of them would be interesting.

No (because we still have no AS), but I think they should have: They have been initiated.
