neorxnawang
I actually made some progress on Dust, to Dust over the weekend. I am up to the last of the spot rules, which is for substance abuse. I am planning on treating it as a modification of the disease spot rule, with CON checks periodically for characteristic damage while using vs. POT of the substance, penalties while off the stuff, and CON and/or POW checks to kick the habit. My question: has this been covered by a spot rule anywhere else? (I really only need a mechanic for one particular substance, but want to provide a few examples of common substances (alcohol, opium) while I'm at it. Comments and brainstorming welcome. Thalaba
River of Cradles for RQ3 has rules for the abuse of Hazia (a narcotic herb) if I recall. They may also be in The Borderlands for RQ2. I can look later if someone doesn't beat me to the punch. I just finished reading Ashes to Ashes, BTW. Really good stuff. It brought to mind that film Zeitgeist and its assertion that an American illuminati are controlling the US media to keep people uninformed about their machinations for global power. There are rules for alcohol abuse in RQ Vickings and RQ Land of Ninja. Each kind of alcoholic beverage has a potency per dose, the potencies accumulate in the body and once thresholds are reached consequences happen (I think that the threshold is the character CON) I can check if someone is interested. There are other rules for alcohol in the MRQ GM book, but I don't remember them. For other substances, I think that there are rules for hazia in Sun County and in River of Craddles. And it is quite possible that there is a spot rule for alcohol in the BRP book. Jean
MurfinMS
Hi, IIRC, I think I read that the CoC San Francisco book has rules for Opium. Of course, in the 1890s anyways, lets not forget laudanum and tineture of opium (sic) which might be worth a laugh yo add (assuming the San Francisco book lacks these. I also remember reading some bit of rulesy stuff on Morphine in CoC... -Ken-

The only one I need for the setting is the Black Lotus, but how could I pass statting laudanum while I was at it? It's a classic, and I get to use public domain images of brand name heroin preparations. I ended up referring to the CofC rules and going from there. neorxnawang
Some progress is being made on Dust to Dust, and I had my wife laughing at this page, so I thought I'd post it.
