Basic Roleplaying (BRP) is a generic D100 roleplaying games system, capable of handling any setting from fantasy to sci-fi. It is an revised edition of the core Chaosium RPG system, written by Jason Durall. This "new" system, developed by decades of play, have been described as a pinnacle of roleplaying game design. It is simple and highly intuitive, while still being one of the most realistic systems out there.

Basic Roleplaying can track its origin to the rules created by Steve Perrin for RuneQuest, a fantasy roleplaying game published by Chaosium in 1978. Two years later, Chaosium released a 16 page booklet called Basic Role-Playing, which contained a trim-downed version of the rules. These were later used as a basis for most of the games released by Chaosium, including Stormbringer, Call of Cthulhu, Superworld, Ringworld, Elfquest and Nephilim.

The new system will be supported by settings, scenarios and resource books from Chaosium, in addition to licensed third party supplements.

Ef plest master, this mighty fine grub!
