  1. So serious question. As a result of one of my decisions, I have been informed that I have the opportunity to gain a Rune from a small selection of Runes. One of these runes is "Fate". There is another thread about the Fate rune not being used by PCs in RQ:G. If you have it, does that mean just a new nifty tattoo? Or would there be some effects? Certainly none of the existing magic operates through the channeling of the Fate rune. My backup rune would be very, very practical but the Fate rune has a huge cool factor.
  2. The rules are not clear, but I read Transform Self as requiring an Odaylan to stack all three Rune spells with the Transform Self cast. That is nine Rune points in one cast, only castable on Wildday. It had better make me turn into the biggest baddest white bear possible, amped up by the benefits of the individual Rune magic spells.
  3. The big glowy thing on the second ziggurat from the left? Got it. The music... it's so beayutifull!
  4. ...and I am losing my mind in the Sky Realm. What the heck is happening? I am making these mysterious choices for people without a clue as to the consequences. Things are very, very trippy. The cryptic blankets are not helping. My companions or I could go splat in the blink of an eye. I don't care so much about us, but if we fail, grandpa and my cousin are going to suffer and I do not want to disappoint them. I think there are three Lunars about to get up in our grill. I am a lover not a fighter.
  5. Urox and Eiritha were player characters in a game. And Eiritha died to save Urox and Urox was still going to die. But the player threw dice and a d6 landed on Wakboth and knocked him over and the GM took that as an excuse to have a cube of the spike squash Wakboth, to prevent a party wipe and save the world. Even if it is not true, it is right.
  6. Can you use a passion or a skill or a rune to aid with downtime rolls?
  7. I am a player in a new Runequest: Roleplaying in Glorantha game. My fellow players and I are playing in Sartar and are pretty standard Sartarites. I was looking at rune priest / rune lord requirements and I find myself in a maze of twisty passages all alike. I was looking at this for purely selfish purposes but also to help my fellow players. I will start with the general question that probably applies to all the cults and then get to my specific one. The beginning of the section lays out some requirements. These include a certain level of skills and a certain level of devotion to god or loyalty to temple and some stat requirements. The rune lord text says "Cults may have additional requirements for Rune Lords." Good. So then at the cult section, in the legend for how one interprets each cult, the Rune Priest section refers to the presence of the word Standard meaning that it refers to the Standard requirements and there may be additional requirements. This "Standard" caveat does **not** exist for Rune Lords. So let's look at a Rune Priest of Chalana Arroy. No reference to Standard requirements. But also nothing about Rune affinity, Devotion to God or Loyalty to Temple, or POW 18. Other cults **do** mention "Standard... but." Does the specific completely override the default? If not, then what applies from the default and what from the cult? Similarly for Yelmalio Light Priests--nothing about Devotion/Loyalty or POW. Now to the selfish question. I am playing an Odalyan and things are even more confusing. No use of the word Standard in the description for Bearwalker. There is a 90% requirement across weapon skill plus four other skills including Peaceful Cut, but with no special mention. Nothing about CHA, affinity, Devotion to God or loyalty to temple. The same holds for Babeester Gor and Yelmalio (for Rune Lords) as there is no Standard text and yet no mention of Devotion/Loyalty or CHA. It gets even messier in the case of Odayla. Odayla, Yinkin, and Foundchild participate in the "same Great Hunt" ceremonies. The Great Hunt is under Foundchild but the text 1) specifically restricts initiates of Foundchild from participating in the ceremony unless they have at least a 90% Peaceful Cut 2) the point of the Great Hunt is possibly to select the next Master Hunter ("if there is a vacancy in the tribe"), a Foundchild designation 3) at most one winner of the Great Hunt is chosen. If you can only even attempt to become a Great Hunter with a 90% Peaceful Cut, then why say under Odayla that Peaceful Cut is **among** the skills that should be at 90%? So, are all the Odaylans, Yinkini, and Foundchildren competing against each other and does the competition consist basically of a lot of Rune Lords plus a few initiates who *might* become Rune Lords? Or are the Foundchildren competing for the title of Master Hunter while the Odaylans (Bearwalkers) and Yinkini (Rune priests. "Standard") just there as guest participants? If so, what if a guest wins? And if you are not in the hunt due to the Peaceful Cut requirement, are you somehow cut off from participating in your High Holy day?
