Now that I'm back from holiday my work is underway on a Foundry implementation - early days yet and nowhere close to having a full data model for you @Alliante
So far I have the start of a character sheet with primary and derived stats (you can make rolls from these), skills (you can make basic* rolls from these and can also drag them to the hotbar for quick access) - no spells, items, powers etc yet - so still a long way to go but some initial progress.  SKills and stats also have context menus to allow for skill rolls and some other functions (view skill details) plus skills now get checked for succesful skill rolls (not for Easy rolls).*by basic rolls I mean you can include difficulty and flat modifier and there is a short cut (Shift Key) to roll Average difficulty with no modifier.
Â@Dangermouse is you are doing this in an open source code, I would be glad to take a look and maybe try to help a little 🙂

@Alliante if you need testers, I can help. Although it's not my area, 15 years of software developement can help 🙂

I think that we are still talking about the same thing, but with different words and approach. Your latest paragraph says:

You said that after the ORC license and error typing is fixed, we can expect a no-art / no-layout / text-only "SRD" version of the latest volume of the BRP. I bought it and I want to use it for a game. But copying the text from the PDF is not so "trivial", as it takes part of the style.
And my question is exactly because of @Rick Meints quote:
QuoteNo, we are no longer updating the BRP SRD. It is what it is.
The new BRP book uses the ORC license.
Use whichever you prefer.
No need to tell us which you prefer/love/hate.
Both are available.Maybe the problem is that when we say BRP SRD, we are thinking about the published SRD that is available for the BRP.
While what I want to know is if and when we will have the text-only version of the BRP that was released last friday.
(Maybe we should start to call this some other name to avoid confusions? 🤔)

The topic the I quote us about the new BRP that was released Friday.Â

Question: here is an information saying that there will be no SRD.
However, in another post, there exactly the opposite information:
Will we get a free SRD that allows us to copy the text easier than the current PDF?

Quick question: the PDF sheets that are fillable don't seem to have all the calculations. What is the policy abou creating an mobile app to handle the sheets?
If there is no problem, I would be more than happy to create one!

It is already April 07th in New Zealand!
What time will the BRP be available? 😄- 1

The ORC License discord server had a recent update that the law firm was reviewing the latest draft. I would say the first draft version will be available to the public SOON. Maybe even before BRP vORC comes out? 🙂
Is this discord public? If yes, can you share the link?

The CEO already stated that will not be a free pdf update, it’s a new edition of the game rules (he even used the example of CoC 6th/7th).
That's exactly what I am trying to understand. Based on the announcement, it gives the impression that this version will be available as a SRD for the BRP.

HI @MOB, sorry for tagging you, but I had some small questions:
Will this be a "free" PDF or not?
I am asking because based on the announcement, this sound like a new SRD for the BRP, which would mean that authors could use that to write their own RPG.
On 3/21/2023 at 12:12 AM, MOB said:This release serves as an update to the core BRP system. Under the new Open RPG Creative License (ORC), game creators are free to use the BRP rules engine to develop their own games, royalty-free and without further permission from Chaosium.
Not that I believe it would be a problem to pay a little to get that, but just trying to understand how that will be done.
Besides it, is there any information about the ORC license itself? I tried to find and this seems to be the first announcement using the ORC license itself. So, quite curious to have a look on it.

The news that I have been waiting from January! \😃/

Yup, saw the post when it came out. Unfortunately, until (if) a new document is published by Chaosium, the current SRD and license stands.

Sure! I just mentioned that because maybe he can do the same approach I am doing: creating all the content that is system agnostic (story, scenary, lore) and leaving the rules to be inserted later when they release a new version.

@Baphomet69as announced in January 29th, that the new version of BRP got a higher priority because of the OGL issue.
ÂÂ

It was mentioned here and I think that I would like to join the voices that asked that: is there any chance to update the SRD?
Compared with the BGB, it's missing quite interesting rules...

I don't the answer, as I have to admit I am quite new to BRP.
But what do you mean by "opposed"?

You may also want to look at "Toxandria" on DTRPG.
So far as I know, that relies entirely on the BRP OGL for its license.Perfect. I will try to take a look on it
Thanks for the tip! -
Perfect. I believe that in this case the best approach is to contact you via the license link and see if what I am planning is possible to achieve. I saw that there the Community program via DriveThru, which was my target, but different from what is stated, I am creating a new scenario/setting, which requires the SRD + some other things that I am planning to include.

The "Big Gold Book" (aka BGB) rules aren't OGL'ed. You may not use the text of those rules, as they remain (c)Chaosium.
That is kind of part of the question. I saw that the BGB was updated in 2022, but the SRD last modification was in 2020.
Is there any plans to update the SRD with part of the content from BGB? Especially because it seems that part of the rules were improved but the SRD does not contain these improvements. Example: BGB has the Special and Critical, but SRD has only Special.

I was searching for a system that had an OGL to create some settings.
BRP looks quite a look with another system that I played for years and I am really thinking about going with it.But There are some points about the OGL that is not so clear to me, so, asking here before have to throw away some work.

The SRD does not have anything like magic, but the "full" BRP version from DriveThru has. Can I use the magic system from the BRP?
- In case I can't, how much different it has to be to not be considered a "copy" of that?
-
How much of the rules I can change?
- For example: instead of getting the experience check the player passes on the test, I want to change to get it when they failed.
I believe that these are the biggest questions that I have for now.
Can anyone help about it?
Many Thanks
