  1. Hello, I've recently come into copies of the Moon Design published Glorantha Classics Volume 1: Pavis & Big Rubble. And Glorantha Classics Volume 4: Borderlands & Beyond. And when I put them on my shelf my copy of Borderlands & Beyond is about a tenth of an inch taller than my copy Pavis & Big Rubble. My concern is that one of them is a knock off or POD copy. Both of the book's print are of exceptional quality and don't look POD. Unless POD quality has improved massively in recent years. I don't know where else to turn to find a question to this admittedly strange and obscure question. Thanks on advance. Edit: I realize that these books have been printed since the late 90s. So maybe I have two copies that are 20+ years apart in terms of when they where printed and that I can tell when they where printed by looking at their front pages. But I'm in bed and will check tomorrow. Any insights you have dear reader will be valued regardless.
  2. I think your opinion is interesting that the world slowly becomes more mundane as it exits the age of myth. The only issues I see with that idea is the mechanical implications and changes that would have to be made if a TTRPG was set in the less magical eras. But from a lore standpoint it's kinda fitting. (again I'm knew to the lore).
  3. Thanks for the reply Jeff. The ice demon invasion from the north during Inkarne's reign is what got me interested in seeking out information about the later ages.
  4. I'm relatively knew to Runequest and I've been going through the lore. I understand a lot of the lore has gotten tweaked over the years and is spread out over many books but what is the best source for what happens in Dragon Pass after Argrath becomes the Prince of Satar and drives the Lunars out? In the book The King of Sartar it gives dates into the 1700s and beyond. Was the mid 1600s ever filled out to any degree? A lot of the events that happen after 1630ish seem to be up in the air or vague at best. Side Question: I know King of Sartar was written in the 90s and my copy might be an older print, but whats with that story in it about Wakboth returning and Argrath tricking the gods into dying along with Wakboth when Argrath slays him? Is that cannon? The story is filed under "Miscellaneous Fragments" so was it just a piece of lore laying around that Greg included at the time?
  5. Some animals have a Dodge skill and I assume the ones that don't have one listed aren't nimble enough to pull it off. But what about Parries? Can say a Bear parry an Adventures sword with it's Claw attack? I'm leaning towards no or it depends on the monster and their natural weapon. What about some of the more Cthulhuian Chaos monsters? If they don't have a Dodge skill and no weapon to parry do the Adventurers just get land free hits assuming that don't fail their attack roll?
  6. It seems like an editing oversight. It shouldn't be an issue for most people. But I see where you are coming from, since with TTRPG rules wording is very important and a minor editorial issue like that can lead some people astray.
  7. Thanks a million. I I forgot that I have the Weapons & Equipment book, I'll give it and the Plunder book a look through. I was doing pretty well understanding the system on my own until I got to Binding Spirits and Sorcery Magic and my brain turned to mush lol. (I made another thread few days ago and already got my answer on Sorcery Magic).
  8. Thanks that makes way more sense than how I was reading it. So the bound spirit in say a ring the wielder could command the spirit in the ring to cast one of it's own spells with its own magic points? And a spirit bound to an animal can do the same with but does not need to be in physical contact with the person who bound it. Correct?
  9. Been sifting through the Runequest: Roleplaying in Glorantha core book and I have a few questions about Enchantments. Adding a spell matrix to say a sword I understand. But what is the benefit of binding a spirit to an item or animal? I think I understand the mechanics of sacrificing POW to bind the spirit but I'm confused as to what this achieves and what the benefit is. And lastly magic items. I've seen checking out some of the pre made adventures and they have cool magical gear. I understand that this edition is still on going and the rules for making magical gear or a magical gear themed book might come in the future, but is binding a spirit how magical Items are made? If not was there useful rules or item lists from prior editions that can be used as a base? Or I'm better off going full GM and making my own magical weapons and armor from scratch?
  10. Started digging into the RQ:G rulebook a few months ago and I have a question about sorcery spells. To cast a sorcery spell the caster must master the spell's corresponding Rune(s) and Technique(s). I understand how one masters those but how is the spell % determined to roll against when casting? Example: (Insert spell name) 75% So the caster would roll 1d100 and get equal to or under 75 to cast the spell plus any manipulations and over come the targets POW or resistance if needed. But what is determining the spells 75% of being cast? I'd assume it's the sum of the degree of mastery of the spells required Rune(s)+Technique(s). But that is just a guess since the chapter doesn't clearly list how Technique %s are derived if so. I hope this made sense. Feel free to correct me if I got anything wrong at all.
