I am in! I am so in!
It looks amazing. How heavy is it? More importantly does it do +1 bludgeon damage? 😁
The hardcover is about 1.48 kg, or 3.27 pounds.

The hardcover edition is now available: Japan - Empire of Shadows! Please read the product description all the way to the end if you already bought the PDF and now want to buy a print edition.

In Life of Moonson, we had Sor-eel aged 56 in 1632 or thereabouts. But that's completely non-canonical, and we wouldn't care at all if you changed it for your own nefarious purposes.

Argrath was born in 1596, according to Jeff. Dunno about this “Garrath” fellow.

I have a few collected thoughts about Dart Wars, Lunar Assassins, Blue Moon Assassins and the like in my Gloranthan Manifesto, which is a free download or a cheap paperback. See pages 117-118.

Updated again on 6 November:
- The Sanctum of Sarkath Han, by Magnus Seter and Robert Dudock: inspired by Steve Perrin’s short Magic World scenario The Vault of Sarkath Han, this classic sword-and-sorcery sandbox adventure gives players an environment filled with denizens and challenges, from the Aldryami and other creatures of the Iron Forest to the demon-haunted sanctum of a long-dead sorcerer. It’s beautifully presented. ($9.99 for 50 pages)
Plus another Smol Snek two-pager, Eurmal's Truth, and a well-earned Electrum best-seller medal for Martin Helsdon's Ships & Shores, just two months after its release.
Please consider leaving a rating or even a short review on DriveThruRPG for any Jonstown Compendium books you've particularly enjoyed: the creators really appreciate it, it helps other potential customers make up their mind, and your best quotes could make it into this year's printed Jonstown Compendium Catalogue.

By analogy with Greek Christos (Christ) > Christianos (Follower of Christ), I believe. That’s ultimately where we get the -ian ending from in English. Not -ion.

Yes, but in this case I want the bad guys, not the alternately good ones. The ones who rob from the rich and the poor, and probably stab them too.

There's a whole Jonstown Compendium campaign with this premise: it's called The Company of the Dragon.

From my old piece on The Oronin Valley:
QuoteBisos and Eses
The worshippers of the Bull Father and Cow Mother are predominantly agrarian, although many nobles, soldiers and freeholders also worship the Sacred Pair: these can trace their descent from the god, and claim the right to bear arms and determine their own destiny.
Bisos arrived late in the Darkness and is regarded by Carmanians as the Right Hand of Idovanus, one of the Creator's primary helpers on earth. He is the Noble Ancestor of many Carmanians and Protector of the Shah, and in that loyal service he continues to serve the Red Emperor. Bisos is also the Mediator, the sacrificial bull who carries messages between men and the gods.

Tawenos: A small city south-east of Lake Oronin, the ancient centre of the followers of Bisos and Eses, the Bull God and Cow Goddess, who brought meat, grain and beer to an oppressed land of starving cities and desperate survivors. They are still worshipped by highland freeholders, soldiers and nobles in Worian and elsewhere.

Jörg’s “bare arms” made me double-take, too, but it does match the source… I don’t presume to know just what guests have to promise not to do with weapons.
It’s OK to carry them (“bear arms” - these people are barbarians, after all: taking away their weapons is seen as symbolic castration*), but you would break hospitality if you were ever to wield them (“bare arms” - and note that this is short of striking a blow).
(Odaylans, of course, retain the right to arm bears.)

Don’t panic, @The Ancient One - the authors got so many inquisitive emails they decided to temporarily suspend sales of Japan - Empire of Shadows until the new hardcover print edition is available. It should be back on sale in all formats in less than a month, if all goes well.

Neither are the Greek poleis or their triremes that dominate the naval warfare of the Mirrorsea Bay. Finding any genuine Bronze Age culture or technology in Glorantha will be about as hard as finding evidence for potatoes.
Nonsense. Potatoes turn up in both our foundational sources, White Bear & Red Moon and Cults of Prax. You’ve been listening to Potato Boy’s quixotic blandishments: snap out of it!

Drew says it should be “Yelmalians,” not “Yelmalions,” and he’s a linguist, so I go with that nowadays.

Thank you. The use of "this edition" confused me.
I agree: it might have been clearer to write “The Glorantha Sourcebook contains…”rather than “This edition contains…”

Then you really need to read Thrilla’s Story, at the back of the Manifesto. She’s what could go wrong.
