  1. I strongly disagree. A Broo is a beast man with the chaos and beast runes. If you take out either it would no longer be a Broo. Also, would you mind giving me a source for cleansing? How does it happen? Who does it? What's the cost?
  2. Is there a quote on the bestiary saying creatures descriptions are from an in universe perspective? If so, whose perspective is it? I can't discuss the Broo healer because i only read a few name drops about it, I always assumed it was illuminated, and i like evidence to the contrary if not so. And they maintain themselves by reproducing like crazy, and dont end the world is a broogasm because people from all cultures try to genocide them at every chance, as it says on the bestiary and earlier sources.
  3. By war crime i mean: - Intentionally killing civilians (unarmed broo in this case) - killing prisoners or giving no quarter - torture - taking hostages - destroying civilian infrastructure - perfidy, rape, pillaging - using child soldiers - using magic of mass destruction / chemical warfare (dropping poison or acid in a dungeon room for example)
  4. And this is why BRP > Rest imho. Yeah, sure, many games do specific things better, or run specific settings in a more streamlined way, but BRP, for me at least, has a magic no other system captures.
  5. It is a formal textual canon statement, check out RuneQuest: Glorantha Bestiary pg90.
  6. "The term survivor often refers to an individual who is going or has gone through the recovery process; additionally, this word is used when discussing the short- and long-term effects of sexual violence. Some people identify as a victim, while others identify as a survivor" Becoming the goddess of rape and trying to destroy reality doesn't strike me as "recovery". She's a rape victim, but considering her moral caliber and actions she's most definitely not a rape survivor... Like c'mon man, this is one of the most evil gods there is, she's worse than 90% of the chaos pantheon, she's not some tragic dude thats stuck in a cycle of abuse, she's a POS that willingly entered and continues the cycle, which gives her power.
  7. So, disagreeing with you means my take is simplistic (unlike unsubstantiated claims that i fantasize with war crimes) sorry but I'm glad we are done here πŸ‘Ž
  8. Thed is most definitely NOT a rape survivor Thed is the assailant here, she conspired to bring forth chaos and end the world. She demanded Orlanth recognize her as the goddess of rape. She voluntarily teared the fabric of reality hoping to end all things. Im sorry but shes one of the top most horrifying things in the whole setting, and her Broo followed her willingly
  9. How does cleansing work? I vaguely remember reading about cleansing but you died in the process (may not be that way, read it a long ago). Also, don't Broo have the chaos rune as part of their being? It's one thing to cleanse someone who got tainted, another to cleanse someone who IS chaos, am i too far off ?
  10. So, assuming a regular pavis campaign, only the bad guys think broos are "persons" (does every lunar believe that? I doubt it strongly) and literally everyone else in the region thinks they aren't. Many other places (most, except some fringe loonie groups) agree with praxians. Yes, not everyone in Glorantha believes that, same not everyone on earth thinks the world is round, but I'd say those people are in the wrong. "This dude is totally a person but needs magical and societal intervention to function, and even then..." Is a really poor argument for personhood, when we start from a *chaos monstrosity whose very essence is strife and destruction*. The last part is just lunar propaganda, since despite what they preach, pretty much every single chaos thing in the lunar empire is either a slave, a near slave or being magically and/or physically kept in line. How many Broo nobles in the empire? Heck, how many full citizens??
  11. BRP is magic and special, very few people play RAW and i read many reviews where people literally spend paragraphs on how rules *should be* instead of what's in the book hahaha. For example, we play CE but with rune points, 1 weapon skill for attack+parry and increased characteristics + personal skill points from BGB. Also XP bonus = INT
  12. You cannot parry with natural weapons in CE, which is the compatible with RQG game. I think CE > 3 if you want to see the "previous" rule versions and infer something from that. In rq3 fist parries 3, or 6 with martial arts.
  13. Thats a tall assumption you made there my dude... Who said i fantasize about war crimes? Please do quote me because frankly, i find your interpretation of my post borderline offensive. Also, in 20+ years in the hobby and knowing over 100 people playing, i don't think I ever saw a single campaign where warcrimes weren't at least occasionally (and many times casually) committed. Anyway, the topic seems to make you uncomfortable, but please don't take it on me i was just asking a simple question. "Exterminate" is literally what says everyone think about them on page 90 of RuneQuest: Glorantha Bestiary. It makes me think broo are not considered persons, thus my question (supported by the published adventure I'm running where the options are "slaughter them all" or "redirect the river to drown them in their sleep". Putting them in a reeducation camp is a warcrime, isn't it? Fixing their breeding most definitely is. Parole them? You mean parole the chaos creatures that worship chaos gods like they or Malia??? Like they ain't gonna tell you what you want to hear then stab you in the back, poison your well and rape your cattle. What do your mean by solemn vow? You mean like humaktis spending 2 pow per Broo??? That ain't happening. And non magical vows mean nothing to them. Were is chaos cleansing published? Isn't it easier and more in line with everything we know the healer is just a regular illuminated broo? With illumination they could do all that without introducing a new (to me) concept. Apologies if cleansing is a thing somewhere i missed. What? The murder rape violence disease monster that's superior or equal to a human in every single mechanical way isn't an existential threat????? Scorpionmen and ogres are in the same spot. I don't think that if i get eaten and reborn as a half arachnid horror that has an overwhelming driving desire to murder and wreck stuff i would still count as a person. I don't think anyone but some minority of lunars consider them persons, and I'm sure they themselves don't. Relationships between Broo is one of master/slave I just figured out they are not people (in the legal sense) because i don't see any culture punishing an individual that does wrong by a Broo. Like, you would get congratulations for stuff that would get you exiled/imprisoned/executed if you do that on humans; like, if you tell your thane you hunted down a Broo, and killed it with extreme violence while making it suffer as much as possible, i don't think you are getting reprimanded, more like the thane buys you dinner... WHAT??? I don't see Broos surrendering unless it's a ruse/last ditch effort not to die (as per bestiary description). Dumping Broo artifacts on a market would have lightbrigers coming to spank you for being... Basically a broo? So you better do it RIGHT *and* then you'll have your GM (me) hating your guts. I don't mind anti heroes or even anti villains, but this is going too far. Rape, disease, cannibalism are HARD NO and you will end up turning into monster, slain by some random mistress race high priestess with her zorak-zorani death lord bodyguards and initiate entourage that "just so happened to wander by". OR (most likely) you'll get an ooc chat and you either reconsider or you don't get invited anymore, idk.
  14. Thing about the warcrimes is... P90 of the bestiary says pretty much everyone tries to genocide them (and didn't succeed yet due to the broos insane fertility). Also in Muriahs revenge it has an option to flood them (totally a warcrime). What if hostile broos surrender? Killing them... Warcrime, right there. Not killing them? What are you gonna do, let them roam free? Imprison them and get everyone sick?
  15. Hi guys, just had an argument on reddit... For me Broo are "creatures of chaos" but some people seem to think they are persons instead. My line of reasoning is that you don't commit war crimes on people, but it's fair game with broos and similar stuff. What do you guys think?
  16. I think the same way as you did; i skimmed and old, torn apart copy of griffin mountain and i found it quite intimidating! I'm gonna reconsider it after reading you!!!
  17. I need to teach my PCs how to use DI; plus yesterday i finished reading this module and... This scenario ends with the PCs IDing back home or a TPK. The last encounter is stupidly unbalanced and there's no winning that fight with my current groups skills and magic (unless the Yelornan deletes the priest with the totally fair & balanced shooting star spell)
  18. Well, if he survives he would have no legs, and i don't think his broo bros would take him... So, 60% chance to become a spirit and then he attacks in spirit combat after dumping his 2 rune points. BRO-O-O-O-TAL (my Broo say bro-o-o-o-o like a goat) 🐐
  19. So, my characters are fighting Muriahs broos (already slaughtered revor and 3 broos with a nice ambush, but i still need to roll revors divine intervention). So, questions: 1- Revor the Broo was split in half at the waist, after suffering a true greatsword blow to the abdomen that did 18 damage (while he had 3 total hp left). Of course he's gonna try divine intervention to malia (60%). What can he realistically ask for if successful? He l has a 6-pt healing potion and id like him to escape, but also didn't get to cast his divine disease causing spells, and his top half flying while he casts one last curse sounds cool if everything else fails. I don't want him telling the other broos and dying because he's an ass and would never do that, but escaping to the other broos is good (if i -and by "i" i mean you) can come up with a good DI effect for that. If that happens, you think the other broos would heal him or kill him? 2- there's the true sword of the fire on the beach. This is a KICKASS item, but sadly it's a scimitar, and no one can even try to use it (except the humakti but i don't see him dropping broadsword for the enemy's weapon). Should I change the weapon to a broadsword or spear? 3- Looting the broos: the named broos have some nice magic items and coin, how would you loot them? Option a) people are afraid and disgusted, they just don't (but then again, the humakti is literally soaked in broo blood so... Option b) loot anyway. What happens then? Does the loot transmit disease? Do you roll 1/day, just once, or what? Can it be cleansed? (A PC is a Chalana runelord + near priest if that's needed). 4- Disease! Assuming every Broo has one (i think this is the case)... i make them roll if they get hurt by Broo, if they grapple them, if they loot them or if they damage a location for it's HP+6 (blood splatter!). now, each broo needs to be resisted only once; should I make them roll on every occurrence instead? Also what happens if a diseased character finds the same disease? I'm thinking i would do them roll again and worsen the disease if they fail, do you think this is a fair ruling? Well, that's it for now, thanks in advance!
  20. I know, i have RQG (and my PCs start as initiates with CE precious XP + 3 RP + INTx10 Skil pt +CHA/2 battle magic -these magic points replace the previous xp ones) but i use the CE spells and gods from cult compendium. I also use -30 (as in classic BRP games) instead of -20 for extra parries.
  21. My humakti player, playing CE with capped truesword damage, probably: Wait, you guys getting sword trance?
  22. But that's just granularity... We could also say every single sword technique is a different (but related) skill, you just train them all at once (different XP rolls)
  23. RQG skill is per weapon, but easily hackable into fighting style if that's your cup of tea. Btw i just kinda let everyone roll "half your best combat skill" with any other weapon. If you have 150% 1h sword... Sorry there's no way you fight at 30% with shortsword or mace.
  24. That sounds completely bizarre to me? Maybe is a language barrier? Like, if he didn't manage to hit you, it means you parried. I seriously doubt he would have hit air if you didn't actively defend?
