I bought it in a heartbeat.

Mythras + Classic Fantasy or the brand new Classic Fantasy Imperative are worth checking out.
-
Wait, Helmghast released something in English? I hope Kopparhavets hjältar is next.
-
The Pathfinder 2e remaster is coming out next year and it will use the ORC license.
-
I see. Anyway, if you have any exact ability you are having problems with, do tell us about it, and I'm sure the folks around here will help with it

Feats are a mixed bag, many of them are just situational modifiers or expand what you can do. If you can find something similar in BRP by all means convert it, but if you don't, just let it go. The two systems are fundamentally different. Sometimes it's even easier to just grap the core idea of something, then work it out from scratch.

I would call them traditions.

And let's make a female counterpart too called Hannah Montana. Oh wait...

- Ringworld would be pretty cool, but again, I think a new edition would be the way to go, tying in with all of the new material and allowing expansion into the huge amount of Known Space material (particularly the Kzinti books).
I really hope you will consider this in the future. Ringworld is an amazingly colourful setting, plus Chaosium hasn't got a sci-fi title in their current line-up.

So… back in ‘81, Chaosium created a RPG for Thieves’ World.
They didn't create an rpg. It was a setting guide for multiple systems - including AD&D, RuneQuest, Traveller, Tunnels & Trolls, etc.

Where did you get that? I see no Stormbringer products on DriveThruRPG. I doubt they could do that, they don't have the license anymore.
2 hours ago, Bob Ross said:Any chance we could get the same for Thieves’ World, Ring World or other long out of print properties?
They will probably have to reacquire the rights to do that, and Chaosium seems pretty busy at the moment with keeping their current games supported. There were some pleasant re-releases in pdf and PoD recently, but none of them were licensed products. I would be happy to see Thieves World, Stormbringer, and Elric! return in print, but it seems very unlikely.

So, no effects of wearing heavy armor? Really? I'm going to house rule that one...
There are skill penalties for wearing armour. It is awkward there are no simplified movement penalties though.

Now corrected!
Thank you, bought it in a heartbeat.

The DriveThruRPG quick preview for Gwynedd has a black background that makes it unreadable. Factions doesn't even have a preview. It would be neat if both had a proper full size pdf preview. Great timing by the way, yesterday I was talking with one of my friends about the importance of factions in sandboxes.

CHA 13 is all you need it seems, give you the +1XP (when in town), what other benefit is there for high CHA?
(I know, 18CHA instead of 13 gives a +5% headstart on CHA derived skill.. but this is a rather punny improvement, I reckon...)
(ok it is used with Animism or something, but planning to use Classic Fantasy, CHA doesn't help in magic over there)In case of CHA x 2 skills like Influence that's a hefty +10% bonus. How useful it is of course depends on your campaign. Having high STR for example doesn't make much difference in a campaign focusing on intrigue or taking place in a post-gunpowder setting.
36 minutes ago, Lloyd Dupont said:Another question which nag my mind, I know save are often skill vs skill, like Magic Skill vs Willpower. Is there anytime one could or would transform that into a characteristic contest like in BRP (where equal value have 50% of success, and increase/decrease by 5% for each point of difference) (related to CHA, sometimes I might want to role CHA vs INT contest or the like of it, maybe augmented with Insight, ie. +Insight%/5 chance of success, or passion?)
I don't see any characteristic test that doesn't have an equivalent on the skill list. What's the goal of your CHA vs INT test? Why isn't Deceit vs Insight or Influence vs Insight good for you?

There is a Damage Weapon special effect.

It's a separate license. It's still there. You can use it that if you wish so, but BRP+ORC seems a way better deal.

This edition of Basic Roleplaying has seen the removal of Strike Ranks (a core combat mechanic used in RuneQuest), along with splitting attack and parry into separate weapon skills that had to be tracked separately.
Despite the latter, the Parry skill is still there in the newest version of the pdf.
-
The big difference is in Mythras you chose a special effect as a result of your attack roll, while in BRP some of those effects are either combat maneuvers you announce in advance (these are covered by spot rules) or the special results of weapon attacks (bleeding, impaling, etc.). Mythras of course has a bunch of additional special effects, but you can convert them following the above logic.

Especially if it comes in the form of the little "target dummy" or "mannikin" diagram, rather than the table of hit-locations!I'm a sucker for wound men on character sheets.

Stormbringer uses the tenth of the skill for criticals, which is much simpler, but there you have only four success levels. For calculating fifths I start like that even today: I divide the number by ten and double it. Works faster for me somehow.

Any news on when V3 of the PDF will drop?
From the above linked Q&A: "We’re sending it to press this week with all edits/errata/corrections fixed and it will be printed in Poland."
So probably this week.

" ...And a 10 Foot Pole by ICE"
Did you just recommend a rolemaster book that's not available in pdf and the cheap one on amazon is $129.99? I appreciate your grognard levels.
Yeah, it's hard to get it, but if you are lucky to see one in the wild for a decent price, grab it by all means. It's well worth having for every campaign, and it isn't really a RoleMaster book - it's 99% system and setting agnostic.

I find it easier to grasp and manage actual currency, so I use that instead. RQ3e has a neat price list. Then there is ...And a 10 Foot Pole by ICE, which has a price list for every era.

It has been there right from the beginning in RuneQuest, though it wasn't called like that: a 00% percent base chance is essentially the same as a skill being "advanced/expert".
-
I don't like wealth systems. I'll just use RuneQuest 3e's price list. Wealth is also directly tied to leveling, since you can buy training from teachers (and should, since nothing guarantees you will both have a check on a skill after a session and succeed at it).
Basic Roleplaying: Universal Game Engine is available now in hardcover!

Kudos for using thick and sturdy matt paper for the rulebook.
