Umpherous Vermillion
If anyone is interested, Nine Inch Nails has two free albums on its official website (GHOSTS V: TOGETHER and GHOSTS VI: LOCUSTS). Very atmospheric. I was trying to track down their soundtrack to the video game Quake and came across these two free albums.
MandilarasM
A really good find for background music during sessions! Especially "Ghosts VI: Locusts" which is hauntingly dark and atmospheric. Thanks for sharing it! Edited July 4, 2020 by MandilarasM
Umpherous Vermillion
Glad you liked them @MandilarasM. Trent Reznor (of NIN) has been making soundtracks for a while: Se7en, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, HBO Watchmen, etc. Not all tracks would fit Call of Cthulhu, but some do. Worth checking out. The soundtrack to the video game Quake was particularly disturbing while playing.
Defile959
Reznor's score work with Atticus Ross is excellent. One minor point though - he did not score Seven. That was scored by Howard Shore, though the Coil "Precursor" mix of "Closer" was used in the film's opening credits.
Umpherous Vermillion
Ah, my mistake--thanks for the clarification @Defile959
Defile959
No worries at all! I remember seeing Seven opening weekend and being quite surprised to hear a Coil remix of a NIN song used so prominently! Not to derail things too much, the Reznor / Ross soundtrack LPs for Watchmen were both a great listen and an intriguing bit of alt-history in themselves. Really, really dug them.
