Saxon Traits - Pagan and British Christian

Recommended Posts

It appears to me that p 45 of Book of Knights and Ladies has an error. Both Pagan and British Christian Saxons have identical starting Traits:

Chaste 10/10 Lustful
Energetic 11/9 Lazy
Forgiving10/10 Vengeful
Generous 13/7 Selfish
Honest 12/8 Deceitful
Just 8/12 Arbitrary
Merciful 9/11 Cruel
Modest 7/13 Proud
Pious 7/13 Worldly
Prudent 7/13 Reckless
Temperate 7/13 Indulgent
Trusting10/10 Suspicious
Valorous 16/4 Cowardly

These match the Pagan values of Generous, Proud, Worldly, Reckless, Indulgent. They shouldn't be identical for a British Christian Saxon. The correct starting traits are I assume from the Core rule procedure and confirmed by looking at how Irish Pagans and Irish British Christians differ is to reduce the Pagan Traits by 3 and increase the British Christian Traits by 3 so you get (Generous being a wash since they are common to both):

Chaste 13/7 Lustful
Energetic 14/6 Lazy
Forgiving10/10 Vengeful
Generous 13/7 Selfish
Honest 12/8 Deceitful
Just 8/12 Arbitrary
Merciful 9/11 Cruel
Modest 13/7 Proud
Pious 10/10 Worldly
Prudent 10/10 Reckless
Temperate 13/7 Indulgent
Trusting10/10 Suspicious
Valorous 16/4 Cowardly

I would point out the text on Saxons, page 28 under Religion: British Christian: "However, their conversion is often more in name than in practice, as revealed by their Traits."

The GM and player can switch their traits for those who want to truly be British Christian, but the assumption is they only give lip service to the new god.
