I stumbled across this, which might amuse someone. A man who loves newtlings cannot be all bad.

  • Your score in a trait is your bonus on a d20.
Each Mastery is a +20 bonus on the trait.

Opposed checks are roll vs. roll.
Unopposed are against a Difficulty Class (default 25).

    A natural 1 counts as -10.
    A natural 20 counts as 30.

You fumble if your opponent beats you by 20+.
You crit if you beat your opponent by 20+ (same thing).

Yes, thanks. All the delay with QW made me try it. I found it a much simpler and better implementation of the same ideas. The only thing I found RAW as a drawback is the large number of abilities. That's why I recommend starting with HALF the suggested abilities and adding them freely through play (as an option in the manual). I only keep the 8 abilities for the Individuality Archetype.

It's basically the same system used in D&D 3E and other d20 games: d20+ modifier. The modifiers are a bit higher (hence default DC 25 instead of 15), crits and fumbles are a little different, but it's basically the same. Not that that is a bad thing.

And Tweet was/is involved in the 13th Age Glorantha line.
