  1. I think it's very nice. The powers system includes rules for how to make super attributes and gadgets. Instead of having a list of powers you explain what you want and it has a point cost - they show you how to build stuff like Invisibility. I'm on the fence about this it seams a bit hand wavy
  2. It's very good, but the only thing that surprised me is that it doesn't have a list of powers, more of a "build a power" system.
  3. I just bought Elder Godlike because I wanted a cool powers in a BRP system. However, I'm not sure officially what you need for it. Achtung Cthulhu? CoC 7th?
  4. As long as you guys don't mind me asking all the generic questions here ;-)
  5. I'm happy to buy a book if the book has the mechanic! Just briefly describe it and I'll take a look.
  6. Would it be possible to create a new forum for Generic D100 system questions? I mostly ask them here. lots of people seem to make their own "frankenstein" D100 hybrid so it would be cool to have a forum for that.
  7. Hmm... I wonder if one of the BRP variants has them. Savage Worlds and Chronicles of Darkness both do and they're pretty fun.
  8. Does RQ6 have an extended contest mechanism (2 or one side trying to accumulate successes over a period of time)? I didn't see it in the essentials.
  9. omg thanks it sounds SOOOOO good.
  10. Is there a 2nd edition of Luther Arkwright out? I read a review of the 1st edition and it was very negative.
  11. Arg, thanks. Now I looked at RQ6 and I want those cool bits in a generic system too.
  12. Yea, from tinkering it seems like BRP is much more easily hackable than say, GURPS, which is super hackable but the system mastery required to hack GURPS "correctly" is much higher.
  13. Oh, I should have been more specific. Examples of what I mean: - Blood Tide or Pirates and Dragons Stunting mechanic (I've forgotten what it's called, but its essentially cool stunts) - Renaissance D100/Pirates and Dragons alternate Progression system (essentially experience points) - Some system (i forget where) getting rid of the Resistance table. etc., just the kind of nice/clean up bits that are easy to add when you make a game from scratch. BRP Gold (now out of print and not really supported) to the best of my knowledge was a clean up and consolidation, not a "lets add these other new bits" project. ) I'm always looking for the perfect Generic system, and yet remain disappointed and hopeful ;-)
  14. Okay, so short answer is that there are a whole bunch of BRP systems that have something like this! Thanks ;-)
  15. Revolution D100 is coming out this Summer... BRP Essentials + Genre Packs (or whatever they call them) is coming out ... As I am SUPER impatient for both of these, is there a 3rd "Best of BRP + Modernizations + Generic" that I can get now (other than BRP Gold, which is cool but (a) isn't officially supported anymore; (b) didn't include the cool modernization bits that you have to hack in from other places). Thanks!
  16. Dark Heresy offers a Fate Chip mechanic where players' have a small pool of fate points they can use to avoid certain death, re-roll, etc. Is there a D100 game that has that mechanic?
  17. Yes, Jux, that's what I noticed. It's not an issue in things Dark Heresy 2, where you have lots of talents and things that instantly customize your character. It's still an issue in D100, but not Pirates and Dragons. Again, I'm not sure it's an "issue," just something I noticed.
  18. Yes. I'm lucky that way. The D100 family doesn't use ticks.
  19. Also, how did I not know about Eternity Realms? It looks super cool and generic.
  20. All good advice. Just to make everyone's life easier though I'll start with one of the Basic Fantasy things!
  21. I'm super excited to help with the playtest. yay!
  22. I like it, and my player's are happier, when each character has their "thing" (this is just a preference). In an OSR RPG, every character has a class; in Savage Worlds, characters have all sorts of Edges that give them very different abilities); in the world of darkness game, each character has a splat that gives them completely different powers. However, it seems like in D100 systems (I happen to be using Renissance D100 and Pirates and Dragons), you end up with very similar characters - just a handful of % points difference. I'm sure I must be missing something. How do you differentiate characters?
  23. Mook rules sound great. Are the Mook rules from BRP Core? I know there's a Pulp BRP Suppliment. Is that useful?
