People want both stuff like Petersen's Field Guide to the Dreamlands and a solid support of all manner of creatures to populate their Gloranthan games with. The Bestiary is first and foremost a product of the second category. Something like the first might be subject to kickstarting and finding out how much customers are willing to spend on custom art. And on finding artists able and willing to capture the oddness and special stuff of Glorantha.

Books like a field guide may very well be systemless (or multi-system) and contain short narratives of encounters with the creature in question before adding all the various rules bits.

A Gloranthan Bestiary like "Petersens Fields Guides..." should be coffee table sized, full colour, hardback, with more than one picture for every creature, AND it should be a book that covers creatures from ALL of Glorantha. Two to four pages per creature, depending how many variations and details of it are known.
I imagine it would be a book the size of the Guide!

I would LOVE to see a book like this, BUT i want to have game relevant books first. This Bestiary Guide would be a nice add on, if we are 20 books or so further in RuneQuests publishing schedule.

    Just my 2 cents...

  2. I am happy with any Fantasy Earth/Mythic Earth/FantasyEurope setting i can get. No matter which of the D100 systems it is published for.

We are blessed by the fact that so many different companies publish setting books for their game systems, which are very easy adaptable with little tro no efford.

Chaosium will do Constantinople in 950 AD.
    GREAT!
The Design Mechanisms Constantinople is set in 1450 AD.

They supplement each other very well, and i don´t see a competition between the differentr game systems as long as they don´t publish the same setting set in the same time period.

  3. I was in contact with Niall Shepeira a few month ago.
He is preparing a 2nd edition of "Other Suns", but this main interest seems now to writing SciFi fiction.
His main concern seems to be illustrations and payment for them.
I suggested that it might be better to publish "Other Suns" as a supplement for Mythras, OpenQuest, Revolution D100 or even the upcoming new RQ/BRP line of Chaosium.
He had never heared of them, but wanted to look them up.
That is all i know on the status of this game.

@Jason Durall's design notes are excellent and leads us through the complex array of historical design and current thinking. I look forward to the complete cover as currently this has the feeling of watching someone choosing a hat to wear. You'd look better in that old hat, new hat, a different hat, a hat my mother had, a different material, it looks like this hat, you don't want a hat you want a scarf, my hat is nicer than your hat, etc. The complete outfit is what I want (at some point). It will undoubtedly be eye catching, have a name badge identifying the authors and a Chaosium brooch and most will buy it anyway even if it had a unicorn hat.

(apologies for not using the new logo, it didn't fit in with my unicorn theme and I couldn't find a pink Chaosium logo)

You can always make a dustcover for RQG of your liking, if you don´t like what the final RQG logo will look like. Even a unicorn cover with a pink RQ logo! :-)

  5. Two more errata additions:
page 5 (same problem as in the errata so far "Left Leg 05-09" instead of "Left Leg 05-08")

page 35 Sprukl-Pa (and again the "Left Leg 05-09" instead of "Left Leg 05-08")

    page 45 and page 46

Harmast and Sorala have the Fire Rune.
The Rune in the font that was used in the bpottom of the sheet is the HEAT rune (small circle inside a bigger circle) instead of the FIRE rune (black dot inside a bigger circle).

  6. Hello Omro Gamer and all other people interested in our german language RuneQuest 6 edition

Since the book will be in german language only the question of international shipping (except Austria) never came up until now.

YES, we will ship to any place worldwide but will have to calculate the individual shipping costs based upon: destination, size of the package and (most important) weight of the final package.
That is why we can´t state any shipping rates right now, because for most of the products we have no final weight, because they have not been printed yet.

    Available will be:
    - RuneQuest 6 Softcover Edition
    - RuneQuest 6 Hardcover Edition (almost identical to our our preview edition, which weights 1.55 kg, which will cost about 12,00 EUR to ship Economy to worldwide)
    - RuneQuest 6 Deluxe Edition (letherbound hardcover book, with the name RuneQuest and some runes embossed - is that the right term? - and metal corners)
    - Abenteuer in Meeros (two adventures in Meeros + GM Screen)

More booklets and books are in the pipeline and can get into print shortly after the rulebook... but only if the Crowfunding succeeeds.
