  2. Wow, more than 207,000 views in a little over 24 hours! : there's phenomenal interest in Critical Role's 'The Shadow of the Crystal Palace' Call of Cthulhu adventure on YouTube: https://youtu.be/0uhqZdJ8swQ
  3. Helping unpack one of our pallets for Gen Con, Mike has found there are mysterious forces which don't want people reading The Grand Grimoire of Cthulhu Mythos Magic. As our booth manager Ellie says of the incident, "We are keeping this mangled corpse at the booth as this year's ritual sacrifice. Thankfully I don't have to stab any of the staff now. Always the hardest part of running a booth."
  4. Watch Critical Role play Call of Cthulhu here:
  5. Strange things are afoot in London’s Crystal Palace, and it’s up to these unwitting heroes to rise against it with all their sanity and might! : Watch Critical Role play Call of Cthulhu right now, on Twitch TV: https://www.twitch.tv/criticalrole
  6. About as believable as an escaped slave from the West Indies ending up in Iceland. Which happened.
  7. All set for a gaslight-era mystery of malevolent proportions: our friends Critical Role are playing 'Shadow of the Crystal Palace', their special Call of Cthulhu one-shot, tomorrow night at 7pm PST
  8. Such an NPC could be inspired by: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-06-27/first-black-settler-in-iceland-hans-jonathan-slave-saga/11228536
  9. https://www.chaosium.com/blogstatement-about-metaarcades-cthulhu-chronicles We regret to announce that the Cthulhu Chronicles mobile interactive fiction game is no longer available. Unfortunately Metaarcade, the company that produced it, is no longer in business.
  10. We'll be selling special preview copies of this book at Gen Con at our booth (#829). Jeff Richard says "The Red Book of Magic has every Rune and spirit magic in the core rules, the Cults Book, Trollpak, and many more. It is a foundational document for me, as it gives me pretty much every Rune and spirit magic spell of any cult of any size in Genertela." Quantity is limited!
  11. Promo for the forthcoming Critical Role Call of Cthulhu one-shot:
  12. In the latest survey, CALL OF CTHULHU is the third most popular game played on virtual tabletop Roll 20 (after DnD & Pathfinder): https://www.enworld.org/forum/content.php?6508-Orr-Group-s-Roll20-Stats-Q2-2019-Use-New-Method-Cthulhu-Up-D-D-PF-Down Interesting factoid: 'One interesting facet of the Call of Cthulhu rise is that the average game length is about a quarter of that of other systems -- "We found that they have an average playtime of 11.9 hours, compared to 40 hour average game times for other systems on these charts."'
  13. That's why games in fringe places like Prax or Pavis or Sun County work well as stepping off points: the players (and GM) don't need know a lot about the world... Thought to be a big reason of why plain vanilla "Human Fighter" is the most popular character class by far on DnD Beyond.
  14. Call of Cthulhu comes to MOAB - the Mother Of All Battles convention in October! MOAB is Sydney’s premier wargaming convention, run annually on the October long weekend since 1990. 21. Chaosium founder Greg Stafford passed away in October last year. Greg's last public engagement was the 2018 ENnies Awards ceremony at Gen Con 51. He said he was immensely proud of the work Chaosium had done in recent years, particularly since 2015 when he returned as chair of the board and brought the Moon Design Publications team into the company. Greg recognized that everyone’s success in the gaming industry was down to the enthusiasm and support of the fans. We at the Chaosium recognize that countless tabletop roleplaying fans are fans (including us!) because of Greg Stafford and what he achieved. From the outset (to quote Greg's own words) Chaosium “was never content to imitate, but instead published games that were original in their style of play, content and design”. It is our aim to continue Greg's legacy: we are all conscious we are carrying on the tradition of innovation and creativity that Greg started when he founded The Chaosium in 1975. We appreciate the wonderful support and encouragement we get from Chaosium fans old and new around the world. #WeAreAllUs Chaosium is one of the choices for Fan's Favorite Publisher in the 2019 ENnie Awards. We hope you might give us consideration, and vote for the other categories Chaosium has been nominated in too, along with our licensees, partners and friends! http://www.ennie-awards.com/vote/2019
  22. Call of Cthulhu's new Australian supplement Terror Australis has already earned the distinction of being acquired by the National Library of Australia, as a work "of national significance relating to Australia and the Australian people". As Kotaku writes in their piece In His House At Australia's National Library, Dead Cthulhu Waits Dreaming, the NLA's acquisitions team reached out to us at Chaosium and we cheerfully obliged, considering it a great honour as well as a tremendous credit to all the talented authors and artists involved. And now Terror Australis has also scored two ENnie nominations - for Best Setting, and for Best Cover Art! Please support Chaosium and our licensees, partners and friends - ENnies voting is live now, and runs until 11.00PM EST on July 21st: http://www.ennie-awards.com/vote/2019
  23. The Vintage RPG Podcast tried out our ENnie-nominated game Miskatonic University: The Restricted Collection and loved it ("It's a great companion to 2016's Khan of Khans!"). They talk about that gameplay experience at the start of this episode. Then - after their next segment talking about some old book called The Dungeon Masters Guide - they interview Chaosium's MOB (starts 24:50) about MU, recent Cthulhu castles he's visited, the Miskatonic Repository, how Australia is Chaosium's Mythos testbed, and more!
  24. The Glorantha Sourcebook has been nominated for BEST SUPPLEMENT in the 2019 ENnie Awards.
