  2. Received in the mail today – lovely to see my RuneQuest scenario 'Fortunate Sun' in glorious hardback! And it's been a delight to be part of Jon Webb's best-selling 'Sandheart' trilogy set in Sun County, Prax - that place in Glorantha (for all its faults) that is closest to my heart.
  3. In the latest of our Chaosium Interview series, RuneQuest creative director Jason Durall discusses more about what's to come in the RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha product line including the RuneQuest Starter Set. Jason is talking with Chaosium's James Coquillat.
  4. The Starter Set for RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha is coming! Between now and its release later this year, RuneQuest creative director Jason Durall's Design Diary will share insights about the development of this exciting new boxed set which will introduce the RuneQuest RPG and Greg Stafford's mythic world of Glorantha to all-new audiences. @Jason D: Two years ago, in the center of Chaosium’s booth at Essen Spiel, the largest game convention in the world, I sat down with my colleagues Jeff Richard, Rick Meints, and Neil Robinson to plan a Starter Set for RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha. It was the middle of a long day full of meetings with international partners and working the booth. The Call of Cthulhu Starter Set was on sale and receiving a wonderful across-the-board response, giving us hands-on feedback as customers from all over the world bought it and looked through the display copy. Design Goals This enthusiasm made it clear that we needed to make a Starter Set a priority for RuneQuest and for the company as a whole. So sitting in a small table in the middle of the teeming exhibition hall, as thousands of game players wandered past, together we established the following creative and design goals: First and foremost was to make a wholly accessible product to newcomers, instilling in them an enthusiasm for the world of Glorantha and the RuneQuest game system and the confidence to jump right in and start playing. We would draw from the valuable experiences making the runaway bestseller Call of Cthulhu Starter Set and the Ennie-award-winning RuneQuest Quickstart & Adventure. The RuneQuest version had to appeal to new and old fans of the line equally. Many starter sets are limited in that regard: we wanted something everyone could use and enjoy. Under no circumstances would it be a throwaway product to be used once and discarded, after a short introductory play experience. It needed to have ‘legs’, as they say. Rather than a stripped-down or abstracted version of the rules, the system would be presented as closely to the regular game line as possible. We wanted this to be an easy step into RuneQuest and Glorantha, as compatible with other products as we could make it. Once those goals were established, the next steps became clear, and it began to take shape in our minds. This would also be a deluxe product, staggeringly good value for the price ($USD29.99). But the most important aspect was that it be a manageable product, something that would let new players and gamemasters have an easy entry to one of the most well-developed settings in all of fantasy roleplaying. As one can expect, though, the exact contents shifted back and forth over the course of development, but finally have focused into a product we’re very happy with and can’t wait to share with everyone! Next Design Diary: Cover art reveal and what's inside the Box! Also, in the latest of our Chaosium Interview series, Jason discusses more about what's to come in the RuneQuest product line including the RQ Starter Set:

  8. COVID-19 Shipping and Fulfilment Update - 17 March 2021 We hope that you, your family, and your friends continue to be in good health. While our five fulfilment warehouses are all open (US, UK, AUS, EU, CAN), the Covid-19 pandemic continues to cause disruptions and delays to postage times in many places around the world. USA customers – please be aware we are currently experiencing shipping delays out of our US fulfilment warehouse, Bang Printing. Dustin has advised that Tyra, our account representative there, has been doing a heroic job keeping things moving. Nonetheless, March shipments, orders, and replacements are going out slower than normal. Bang have recently put on new staff (and Dustin also sent Tyra cookies over the weekend), and so we hope the US shipping situation improves soon. We appreciate people buying direct. It helps the company in these trying times. If you want to check the status of your order, you can always drop Dustin a line: customerservice@chaosium.com. And remember, while you're waiting for your physical shipment from Chaosium.com, you have the PDF already to read, play, and enjoy. On behalf of the whole Chaosium team, wishing everyone all the best until the Stars are Right again. — Rick Meints, president Chaosium Inc.

  21. An Evolving Tabletop Game set in Theah’s Most Interesting City Our friends at Pine Box Entertainment, publishers of the Doomtown Deadlands collectable card game, have announced the 7th Sea: City of Five Sails game is in development. 7th Sea: Five Sails is a hybrid card/board game of swashbuckling, sorcery, piracy, adventure, political intrigue, and skullduggery. Produced under license from Chaosium, it features key elements from John Wick's 7th Sea tabletop roleplaying game, incorporated into a rich, storyline driven tabletop experience. Players engage in combat duels that go back and forth with impending damage. Parry, riposte, and thrust at your opponent with the assistance of plot cards and attachments to damage and eliminate opposing crew members and mercenaries. Each Leader has their own unique playstyle with additional ways to obtain Hero Points, and forge a path towards victory. Alternatively, controlling the locations or assassinating the enemy leader will lead to domination over the City of Five Sails. Pine Box designers Case Lopez and Robert Croy have recently been joined by Legend of the Five Rings CCG designer Chris Medico and Transformers TCG designer Case Kiyonaga. Find out more about the game at the Pine Box Entertainment site: https://pineboxentertainment.com/2021/02/26/announcing-7th-sea-the-city-of-five-sails Pine Box are also looking for playtesters for 7th Sea: Five Sails!
