  1. I'll have some unofficial thoughts about at least a couple of groups of post-Lunar Sables in my Moonbroth Oasis sourcebook. Should be finished this year, if I can stop writing other scenarios long enough to make progress with it...

So if the Tribes are all labeled and listed, does this mean that only clans are free for creation in Glorantha.

Is there a way to distinguish what tribes go with what clans or are the clans intentionally undefined?

My advice here echoes Jonathan Tweet’s, so I’ll just quote him.

Argrath is descended from Sartar (or at least has the done the appropriate steps to effectively prove he is) - Leika isn't. That's one thing.

Argrath has a devoted personal warband of Praxian fanatics and funky Warlocks, and a working relationship with Harrek the Berserk's Wolf Pirates. He's looted pretty much every coastal region of Genertela and Pamaltela, knows secrets of the Giants and Dragons, and can access all the wealth and secrets of Old Pavis.

Leika has... you lot, basically. The most deliberately backward tribe in the heartland of Sartar, existing in self-imposed quarantine from the power structures of the kingdom: no Royal Roads, no City Rings. (Quite a nice little whorehouse on one of the B-roads, I'm told, and the microbreweries are good)

    So that's another.

Unrelated, but why are everyone in sartar so ready to unify behind Argrath but refuse to give Leika the time of day? is it just because Argrath has relation to Sartar, the person?

I think so. Leika could lead the Greater Colymar Tribe (plus misc. allies and hangers-on), but she can't ever be the legit heir to the Kingdom of Sartar, and Argrath can.

    the fandom wiki tbh.

it can be useful for getting a simple grip on the timeline but it is woefully lacking in detail

    (shrug)

We know she is killed in battle in 1626, so that's obviously bollocks.

Also (in case it isn't clear above) there are also regular jewels -- just pretty, no magic/POW/etc.

I think “large jewels” are always magical crystals; smaller ones could be powerless.

I guess some French authors must be already adapting old scenarios to publish them in the Jonstown Compendium. ☺️

I hope the rules are changed soon to allow that. Currently they say:

    • Note: we may permit content in other languages at a later time, but for now all Jonstown Compendium materials must be in English.

Obviously it's easier if you write your own stuff (as you've already got permission, and don't need to work out any royalty splits, etc.), but if the original authors are happy for you to adapt their work for publication via the JC, go for it! It's great that there are so many scenarios on our community site.

Dang it, looks like I've had my five free articles of the month already. Anyone care to summarize the mention for me? 😅

  9. I'd say don't bother with conversions for most NPC opponents: use the RQ3 or RQ2 stats basically "as is," until something strikes you as wrong, then wing it in play. You do not need to be spending your time wrangling numbers before you start playing. If you're using some high-end type like a shaman or sorcerer or rune priest, you might need to take more care, but for grunts and cannon fodder: who cares?

And I completely agree about ignoring Passions and Runes for NPCs. They don't ever get to try for inspiration unless it's an important part of your scenario, and in that case they probably succeed by fiat (eg: "The Malani warriors have +20% weapon skills in this assault because they Hate your group after you burned their stead to the ground").

Q - can the Lune's attack (by RAW) cause Illumination?

In the latest draft of the Nysalor cult writeup I’ve seen, the answer is yes. (Kinda)

That is, you can obtain the Illumination “skill” via madness, and you can become Illuminated by making that skill roll.

Answering riddles is still easier, but you can certainly become Illuminated by going insane.

The Lismelder are primarily Humakti, and Humakt isn't hostile to the Lunars, only to Yanafal Ta'arnils.  If the Lunars were able to keep Delecti off their backs, I think the Lismelders would be pro-Lunar.

You might have forgotten (or never known) that I played in the original Greydog Campaign back in the nineties, and pay keen attention to my old stamping-grounds. The idea that the Lismelder tribe is pro-Lunar isn’t supported by any source I’m familiar with. And they’re included in the most comprehensive list of anti-Lunar tribes ever drawn up.

But YGWV, and I’m cool with that.

There is a city on the Red Moon? Wait what?- There is still so much I do not know about Glorantha.

I guess I'll read this and get interesting idea about Lunar PCs.

There are cities (plural) on the Red Moon. (The Guide to Glorantha, Appendix I is a four-page gazetteer of its surface features, with a beautiful painted map by Eric Vanel - here's a small excerpt). Think Barsoom.

Couldnt find a general lore thread so I will just shoot out a bunch of questions here.

4.which are the pro lunar clans of sartar?

I summarised the pro-Lunar tribes, here:

    The Rough Guide to Sartar
    http://etyries.albionsoft.com/etyries.com/journeys/liberate.html

Backstory: this reworked an irritating typology from a book for Hero Wars called Sartar Rising: Barbarian Adventures which itemised the "Free" and "Enslaved" tribes of Sartar. I thought turning this on its head for Lunar propaganda purposes was worth doing: the division into "Liberated" (benefiting from Imperial rule) vs. "Oppressed" (still sunk in barbaric despotism) perfectly mirrors the original piece.

The original ended with a propaganda box called Free the Enslaved Tribes!, so of course I inverted that too. It's kinda my job. Hence, Liberate the Oppressed Tribes!
