  1. I'm not sure its so much about being "lore correct", but knowing enough to grasp the basics. While everyone on these boards has had to explore Glorantha for  themselves, many of them over several decades,  only some of us have had to cut their Gloranthan teeth on RQG specifically, in the last year or so. Past editions might have been easier to grasp. Or harder? Certainly different.  Sure, getting into a new game takes some work, but the density of Glorantha makes it a bit more difficult to penetrate from a standing start. To an extent you can take it or leave it, but not much, as in RQG  the setting is deliberately organic to the rules, and vice versa.  Im looking forward to the starter set to see how it aproaches things.

  2. Being a relative newcomer to Runequest myself, I found that because the setting and the rules are so intertwined  and so exhuastive (runes, cults etc) , you do need to acrue a good deal of knowledge about both before the RQG penny (or bolg) drops. If you're  not overwhelmed, you're  not paying attention. I'd bought all the RQG books, the quickstart, the source book, found the online comic, found the wiki,  and  read them all. But it wasn't until I got the King of Sartar in recent drivethrurpg sale that I was comfortable enough to feel consciously ignorant, and start thinking about taking the finacial plunge for the guide. In other words, just read everything until it clicks. Good luck!

    • The coupons will offset those that have already bought a hardcopy of RQG - so in effect, if you've already bought a hardcopy of the rules, you'll be getting a second copy of the rules as part of the slipcase coupon deal. We are not selling partial sets, or empty slipcases due to the shipping challenges involved.

I've spent quite some time reading this over and over again. I can only conclude the same as Bill the barbarian and Skovari, but I can't help but think it sounds too good to be true, so it probably isn't. But if it is true, I take back everything I muttered through gritted teeth when I first read about the delay in release to  next week.

Based on the lightened artwork and the errata, I'm gonna spring for the entire (filled) slipcase, even though I bought the core book when it first came out.

That's not a bad idea, but I don't think I'd shell out for an new physical copy of the core book  unless the discount token for the first printing would apply to the second printing as well. Is that the case?

If you already own the RQG core rulebook you will be able to buy an empty slipcase and also order the Bestiary and GM Pack to complete the set. For a limited time this will be available at a special bundled price.

If you have purchased the PDFs of the Bestiary and the GM Pack, you will receive coupons for the full price of these PDFs off the cost of the printed books.

This is pretty much what I wanted to hear. Thanks.

  6. I notice that in the core book all the cults have staring skills of a +20%, a +15%, and a +10% (and in a few instances additional ones too) in certain skills. Except Yinkin, which has only a +20% in track and a +15% in Beastspeech. is this an oversight?

  7. Canberra is an odd place, a made-to-order capital in the middle of nowhere. Its basically a government town, and as such largely populated by public servants ; a borgeois bubble of rule-followers in splendid isolation.  My son, 23 and a recent MA graduate, moved there for work this year from Melbourne, and describes it as "the dullest and most repressed place on Earth". The situation the OP has shared is VERY Canberra, although it could feasibly happen anywhere in Australia.
