Cthulhu Invictus for 7e was apparently released on pdf, with no fanfare whatsoever. Has anybody got it? What's it like?
-
This is currently being kickstarted, of course, but is concurrent with Stygian Fox's KS for a new modern setting anthology. I would love to invest in both, but I have only enough disposable income right now for one. To paraphrase George Best, l spent alot of money on RPG kickstarters, and the rest l just squandered.

While we have no bad news, we have no good news either. This isn't something that is actively progressing. I wouldn't expect any news for months, if not longer.
This is disappointing, so it probably counts as bad news. But not catastrophically and irretrievably bad, which is....well, not good, but not not bad. And depending on the definition of news. Can't wait for some genuine good news on this.

Any news now? It's been well over a month since there was last no news.

I do like this monthly scenario idea. Buying these is just the incentive l need to keep going to work each weekday.
Is there any likelihood of a Scourged Earth setting book, or a setting/campaign book like The Spider God's Bride? Come to think of it, TSGB setting of Xoth would be great for Mythras.
-
I vaguely recall Loz mentioning possibly developing Scourged Earth. Is that still a thing?
-
It sure is.
It's interesting to see Chaosium licence out an entire setting. Might we expect the same with Dark Ages and Gaslight?

It will be interesting to see what is on the horizon for CoC 7E for the next 12 months
Has there been any offical indication as to what is in the pipeline for 7e?
On the Design Mechanism boards recently, Loz only had to be asked before outlining the next 2 to 3 year's releases. It would be great if that happened here.
I'm certainly curious about the future of Invictus, and also Dark Ages, and would hate to see these lines shelved. If Chaosium doesn't wish to support these lines, might they be farmed out to licencees?

I must concede that I have only glanced at the pdf of Convicts & Cthulhu on a tablet, and had not noticed anything about upcoming publications. I like the sound of them, from what you've said, and I suspect I will probably buy them.

Regarding your question about Ludwig Leichhardt ... he doesn't make an appearance in Convicts & Cthulhu (since it's set earlier than his time), but he *does* get a mention in some other Aussie Call of Cthulhu material which will hopefully be making its way into print in the near future. He is one of a handful of famous Aussie disappearances so it would be a shame not to weave him into the Mythos backdrop somehow.
This sounds intriguing. Do tell.
S.A might not have benefitted from convict labour and settlement, but (an adaptation of) Snowtown has "cultist" written all over it.
-
Dean, isn't Adelaide the one Australian capital not to be settled by convicts?
This looks very interesting - I'll grab it at rpgnow in a minute. Does it have a take on what happened to Ludwig Leichhardt.

Do you 'need' a book to tell you about playing the game in the modern day?
Well, no. Nobody said anything about "need". But Chaosium obviously felt there was a place for a modern source book back in the 80s. Currently there are a few options for modern play, but this doesnt necessarily make a Cthulhu "Right Now" redundant. It may even underline its popularity.
If not a modern source book, then l would certainly like to see a campaign and/or anthologies. Looking forward to "The Things We Leave Behind", albeit from a licencee.
I would almost certainly buy updated deluxe versions of the big campaigns - Masks, BTMOM, and so on.

Certainly would like to see an update of BTMOM. And Cthulhu Invictus, although it is comparatively recent and doesn't appear to be priority.I'd like to see a licensee pick it up if Chaosium is busy with other things.
The first CoC book l ever bought was Cthulhu Now, almost 30 years ago.THAT definitely could use an update.
-
This then begs the question....what's in the pipeline? The Chaosium website has some chat about Runequest and Mythic Iceland, but nothing specific regarding CoC 7e releases.

Turns out my package arrived a day earlier than projected. Picked it up this morning, my PO box close to the office. Books undamaged and look terrific. Well done Chaosium. As a pre-orderer, I'm couldn't have expected any better. Great stuff.

I made my pre order for the two core books last month, and in the last few days have recieved emails from AusPost that the package was in various stages of delivery, and will arrive the day after tomorrow. In short, l wiĺl get my stuff before some Kickstarter backers get theirs, and without the years of angst.
-
I had my pre order payment clear on 11th April, and recieved a link to rpgnow for the pdfs on 17th April. So less than a week. Still haven't seen a hard copy or an email about delivery. How long after backers get their stuff will pre orders go out?
-
Pre-ordered online by backerkit via kickstarter. Only a few editions ago this would have been complete jibberish.

That is great to hear. Or read. Cheers Mike.

So, just to be clear...are the books in the shipping containers purely for kickstarter backers, or are some of them destined for retailers? And in regards to Melbourne (MOB, this means you), if retail copies are included, where might they be available from?
