  1. Yeah, that's why I thought that the RQ3 version was better, in that version the difference is the ceremony spell that is cast.

Those are good points on giant craftmanship. But should large giants be good craftsmen because of their big muscles, or because of the time they have spent on practising their crafts?
  3. How long does it take for a broo larva to grow into an adult broo?

If STR was removed or capped the problem wouldn't exist. I liked it when the same system was used to make NPCs and PCs. Large animals are handled easily, just give tigers a high enough basic skill in sneaking, then a possible negative bonus wouldn't make things silly.
  5. Does every city dwelling butcher perform the rites of the Peaceful cut, or do they just butcher the animal with a craft skill? And if so, and they later wanted to start using the Peaceful cut, how much would they get to the skill from their butcher skill?
  6. What are giants' basic skill percentages? Are they the same they were in RQ3? Or are they the same as humans'? If they are the same as humans', then a 9m tall giant would be a great craftsman in every craft with his +65% Manipulation bonus. And if they are the same as in RQ3, then the 9m tall giant would still be a great leatherworker. And Great Trolls are not only great in size, they are also great at picking pockets. Perhaps STR should be removed from the Manipulation bonus? It makes no sense. And do you need brains to brain someone? In my opinion, no. Weapon skills should logically use the same bonus as Jump and Dodge, ie. the Agility bonus.
  7. 1. How to learn spirit magic spells from cults? Does one point of some spell pop in to a priest's head every year, or is it a free spell that some other priest teaches to him? And if someone wants to learn a spell that no priest in the temple knows, are there spirits that can be summoned to teach it, or does he have find some other place to learn it? 2. How many Sorcery techniques/Runes would a sorcerer know? Page 70 on Philosophers: Philosophers learn sorcery, and start having mastered the understanding of one Rune and one technique (see the Sorcery chapter). They also start with three sorcery spells. Page 76 on Lhankor Mhy: Cult Sorcery: Cultists trained in sorcery start as having mastered the principles of the Truth Rune and the technique of Command Page 381 on Aeolialism: At age 16, those with a minimum INT of 14 select two Runes and one technique in which to specialize Would a Sartarite Lhankor Mhy worshipping Philosopher get techniques and Runes both from his cult and profession, ie. the Truth Rune, one additional Rune, the Command technique, and another technique? Or would he get just the Truth Rune and the Command technique? And how many Runes and techniques would an Aeolianist Orlanth worshipping Philosopher get? Or is that combination even possible? 3. Rune point maximum Are the total Rune points limited with CHA, or just the Rune points per cult?
  8. Or save on sandal wear and tear and just fly year around.
  9. Hahahaha! And in addition to those, every 30 years old Orlanthi stickpicker could could blast 9 Lunar hoplites with his Thunderbolt 11.
  10. Ah, looks like that I misread it, and thought that you cause damage on all ties. Thanks!
  11. It's a part of the Great Circumnavigation with Argrath, Harrek, and the Wolfpirates. e: and dealing with otherworldy creatures is all about sophistry imo

    Bow prices

Yeah, looks like it. The armours are the same too.
  13. Which of these roads are proper layered stone roads, and which are just paths that are kept clear? Do they have bridges, ferries, or fords? And are the bridges stone or wood? What about Esrolian roads, or the ones in Zola Fel Valley?
  14. Thanks for raising good points! I discussed this with my group, and reached to an agreement that if an Issaries' priest joins say, a pirate ship's crew, he couldn't attack or get a share of loot from random merchant ships, but if he joined the combat after the target had started defending itself, he could fight alongside the rest of the crew. And a fair captain could give him a gift for that. And if the crew faced real enemies then could fight from the beginning and would get a normal share. Also since he can get more money from selling the loot than regular pirates, thus increasing income for all of the crew, he could get some kind of cut from it.

In HeroQuest Glorantha the prices were more realistic than in RQG: Broad sword 50 Praxian bow 40 Self bow 10 Throwing spear 15 Thrusting spear 20 I wonder what changed?

The nobles weren't minted yet in 1315, did you mean 1351? They were worth 80d, so 3 nobles would have been equal to 80 days of work for a thatcher. And that's the most expensive longbow I've ever heard about.
  17. Some points: Phalanx and other shieldwall combats weren't about shield pushing. There's a reason they carried spears. Medieval armies didn't have "untrained rabble". And the greek hoplites were militia. Even the Spartans. The only exception were the mercenaries.
  18. I tested the spirit combat rules yesterday, and both the character and the ghost succeeded in their Spirit Combat rolls at the end and both dropped to 0 mps. Did I play it right, can that happen? And what would the result be? Is the ghost banished to the Spirit Dimension and does the character drop unconscious?
  19. In the River of Cradles book it's stated on the Issaries cult's description that his priests "may never steal, except from someone who stole from them or from a creature of chaos.". Is robbery still allowed? What if they take something from a dead person that has heirs?
  20. So were the original mercenaries who settled in the Zola Fel valley Elmal worshippers, whose descendants converted to Yelmalio worshipping about two generations ago? And if so, were the Praxian nomad counts Elmal worshippers? Or were the mercenaries worshipping Yelmalio, and their descendants converted two generations ago to a new Monroghian version of Yelmalio? Are the Praxian nomads who worship Yelmalio recent converts of the Monroghian version, or do they follow some other version? Does Monrogh Lantern's name have anything to do with Monroe lanterns?

According to that NatGeo article, those javelins were used to hunt hippos and crocodiles which have quite thick skins, and would have needed deep penetrating weapons.

This quote explains my interest in bow and spear prices.
