Didn't really get the point of the skill decreases for opponents if yours is over 100%. But fortunately Runequest isn't a chess tournament, and you can use which ever rules you like. And any DM worth his salt can restrict spells if their players start distrupting the game with them. I think that I personally will start using the "it's a trance" rule someone suggested. Glorantha is a lethal place, and just being an unstoppable juggernaut to your melee opponents in front of you doesn't make you invulnerable, just shoot Achilles in the heel. Yeah, on this case the older rules were better.

Ancient Greek swords had crossguards, just not those long ones used by Medieval and later Europeans. Asians also didn't ever use those long ones. And blade binding can be done with curved swords, and khopesh-like blades too.

Yeah, I get why it was changed, it's just that RAW don't work right now. The rules say that training is a full time activity. If the rules were changed so that the training was only a part time activity, then it would be kinda ok. Though just like you said, there would still be a need for full time training rules.

Yeah, going with the old training rules. Say a character goes to the Great Library in Nochet to get a "bachelor's degree", ie. he studies there for 3 whole years. 15 * 2.5% = 37.5%. And he would get no other skill increases during the time. Makes no sense.

In my Glorantha the first sword was shaped like the Death rune, ie. it had crossguards. But it's mostly just Humaktis who have crossguards on their swords.

Yeah, at some point I thought about this too, and made the following rule for humans: STR = ((the original STR roll + SIZ * 2) / 3) - 2 rounded up. Eg. STR roll 10 and SIZ 18: STR = ((10 + 18 * 2) / 3) - 2 = 14 STR roll 3 and SIZ 18: STR = ((3 + 18 * 2) / 3) - 2 = 11 STR roll 18 and SIZ 8: STR = ((18 + 8 * 2) / 3) - 2 = 10 STR roll 18 and SIZ 13: STR = ((18 + 13 * 2) / 3) - 2 = 13 STR roll 10 and SIZ 13: STR = ((10 + 13 * 2) / 3) - 2 = 10 The rule can be modified for other species too.
