    I tried a Google search using "site:http://kapresources.wpengine.com/" and no results came up. Is there a robots.txt or something that can be configured to have Google index it?

    Use "site:http://greathall.chaosium.com/"

    Is the volunteering Chaosium-only, or could some hypothetical grassroots Pendragon-playing IT folks take it on?

    No IT required, just the will to help, the ability to type and some knowledge of Pendragon 🙂 Message me if interested.

    While I have your attention: is Chaosium hosting an official rune font anywhere? There's one at https://www.glorantha.com/ but that site is, as I understand it, essentially an archive.

    That is the official rune font. https://www.glorantha.com/docs/glorantha-core-rune-font/ version 1.5 is still the current version. It is still copyright Moon Design.

    There will be an update at some point to add the sorcery runes.

    The Khordavan font is also still available. https://www.glorantha.com/docs/khordavan-font/

    Of which I discovered I still own the Arthurian Companion by Karr which has somehow survived the last 30 years in my shed and now rescued and back on my Bookshelves

    Good news!

    You may be able to help, is it The Reston version (hardback, dust cover) or Chaosium (softcover, reprint)

    http://greathall.chaosium.com/publications/chaosium-publications/cha2704-the-king-arthur-companion/

    http://greathall.chaosium.com/publications/chaosium-publications/cha2704-the-king-arthur-companion-2nd-edition/

    if it's the first edition, does it say who the cover artist is, and what colour is the hard cover?

    Many thanks

  4. The beginnings of the Pendragon Resource site are now up. It's very "bare bones" for now, but I wanted the old Nocturnal Media forums available. Please ignore any "this site is insecure" warnings. It's on http not https for the time being, while some issues are sorted and there is no danger.

    http://greathall.chaosium.com

    You can find the old Nocturnal Media forums on the Archive page. Eventually they will be imported and all of the broken links removed and replaced. They can be browsed, but not searched at the moment. Trying to click Log in, View full site and Nocturnal Media forum will not work.

    If you've any questions please ask.

    If you want to get involved message me @Scotty or email david@chaosium.com with Great Hall in the subject.

    There was a compiled list of place names of the old nocturnal site, which linked the new place names to the old. . I might have saved it on the hard drive somewhere. If I can find it I could repost it here.

    This one? If some kind person would like to collate this into a single document with references where needed and send it to me I will post it here.

    Why the reversal?

    Because I had a lot of complaints
    and then I held a poll
    and the modern names won

    I really got confused (especially AFTER I printed all my pdfs...).

    QUESTION: If I have all the pdfs which I bought from drivethroughrpg....will I ever get updated versions with the FINAL and definitive names?
    I am especially concerned about all the new books with incredibly lonks lists (Uther, Warlord, etc.) and also the GPC...which, at this point, I do not know if it holds or not the right names.

    I am lost....

    Yes, you will get updated PDF--Nocturnal is extremely good in this respect
    However, it will take some time to do this
    The final and definitive names are the modern names
    GPC needs no correction--it was done years ago before the fantasy of names swept me off my feet

    With the exception of a couple of county & city names:
    Devon = Ascalon
    Marlborough = Gentian
    Somerset = Summerland
    Surrey = Berroc

    The Eight Civitates of Logres (using now Latin names, except for Silchester):
    London = Londinium (Thamesmouth)
    Gloucester = Glevum (Glevum)
    Norwich = Venta (Caerwent)
    Silchester = Silchester (Silchester)
    Dorchester = Durnovaria (Dorsette)
    Cirencester = Corinium (Clarence)
    Colchester = Camulodunum (Caercolun)
    Chichester = Noviomagus (Hantonne)

    Greg, I must confess that I appreciated many of those new names, especially with all your efforts on "de-saxonizing" them.
    But I guess the problem came when one tried to cope information between old and new books and with Arthurian sources external from the rpg.
    Without considering people like me who do not know UK enough to be sure even about modern names ...

    By the way, you have been great to change the names once, and now you are great in listening people and revert the change.
    Thanks a lot.

    Now I need an atlas to understand where is everything....

    Well, at least if you look at the beginning of this thread, you will have a lot of the place names and their modern names gathered here. So you can do a Find on your web browser to search for the fictionalized name, find out the modern name, and then stick it into Google maps.

    Of course, if it is just an overview you are looking for, then the maps of BoU and BotW will work just fine for that, too. The names are changed back to modern/historical (in most cases) but the locations are not changed.

    Thank you. It has actually been an ordeal for me.

    Although with the KAP names you needed an atlas and the book of translations

    I am making my huge tome of names that won't be used available as a downloadable file, I mean, two files, on my website StaffordCodex.com

    I'll miss the names. Its been very helpful to my players (even the ones who know where all the places are) to use non-Saxon names for things. Its hard to get into the proper mindframe to crush Saxons sometimes when you are using their names for things you are claiming to own.

    Yes, I understand
    I will miss them too
    I plan to sneak a few back in as Arthur's reign goes on
    For instance, after the Battle of Stafford the castle is named Castle Terrabal after the battle
    But I have to say that is quite a bit easier to find places when their modern name is used.
    Looking in the appendix then searching maps proved quite tiring for me, especially as several places seem to have missed when the new names were listed

    Still, places that are named in the literature will keep their literary names
    So will the counties of Britain remain the ones that are not modern, but made up for the game

    Finally, you can find the names for most of the places in the Pendragon Atlas files at my web site, Staffordcodex.com
    I will be moving it to GSPendragon.com, the official KAP web site, at some point
    It is a formidable work
    Furthermore, I think that some places not in the web site are covered in the published BoE and BoW

  6. Hi,

    gspendragon.com was a personal site of Greg Stafford and maintained by him. The content now belongs to his family as did the hosting which has now lapsed. I'm sure that that you can all understand that this is still a difficult time for his family and that the fate of this website is just one of many things that needs thought and consideration. The resources are backed up so nothing has been lost. In the meantime as suggested, please use the Internet Archive to access their snapshot:

    Please note that there is no timescale for the return of this site.

  8. The Nocturnal media forums are safe and will be available soon on a separate Pendragon resource site.

    For technical reasons it wasn't possible to migrate them here (or anywhere else). However I was able to archive the content. Nocturnal Media switched off their forums recently, but only once the content was saved.

    Please use this forum as Pendragon's new home. Many familiar members are here already including our KAP line editor @sirlarkins.

  9. Hi, I'm in the process of archiving the forum onto a new Pendragon resource site. There, the forum can be browsed as a resource. For technical reasons the forum couldn't be migrated and has now been shut down. The new site will be very bare bones with only the forum archive on it for the time being. I will announce here when it's up.

    Please continue your discussions here!

    is any one able to confirm that this are the same maps that are in the 4th edition (physical copy)?
