  1. Hi all, I'm putting together a new Gloranthan fanzine called 'Hearts in Glorantha' and I'm looking for articles and art work. Article wise I'm looking for a diverse selection of topics that are light and fun. Background, homelands, GM/Narrator advice, Fiction, NPCs, scenario seeds and full adventure write ups, all these things will be considered. What system you use is up to you. The license that Greg and Jeff Richards have kindly sorted out for me, covers HeroQuest, old RuneQuest and Mongoose RuneQuest in the 2nd Age. If you don't use one of the 'official' systems, you can even be a heretic and send in your ideas and rules conversions. As long as its set in Glorantha I don't care. Contributors as well as having the pleasure of seeing their work in print, will also receive the issue of fanzine their work appears in. I'm aiming to get the first issue out by the beginining of August, just in time for the mighty Continuum convention. The second issue will then hopefully emerge just before the end of the year. The fanzine will be available in both print and Pdf formats. If you are interested in contributing or helping out in any way please email me off list, at mrnewt AT gmail DOT com.
  2. I've played enough RQ3 back in the 90s to appreciate its weaknesses for me personally, higher level characters became to much of an exercise in number crunching. Same with HQ, seven years of gazing into the Abyss that is the numerous details of various cults and the ever expanding background made my head spin!! Not convienced by MRQ's take yet, but its early days yet and to be fair I've not read all the books (even the core of Glorantha 2nd Age, Cults 1&2 and Magic of Glorantha) in enough depth. So if I was to play Glorantha these days I would play it out of the box with RQ2 and the Gloranthan Classics Or I'ld be a Heretic and use the following systems for the following games >:-> Unknown Armies: Lunar Empire, the pcs are members of the lunar cults jostling for immortality and power, risking insanity and all the other wonderful personality disorders that UA's Madness Meters encourage. Savage Worlds: Rumble the Rubble (Pavis) . Fast furious fun as Orlanthi rebels take on the might of the Lunar Empire! Burning Wheel: Sun Dome County. BW would nicely support the intense character driven pace that parts of the Sun Dome County write up suggest.
  3. Hi all Thanks for all the kind words so far. Well the news on SimpleQuest is that it is coming, either before XMAS or early in the new year. Its going to be completly OGL with a sample adventure and setting. It will be available as a free pdf with the option of buying a softcover/hardcover from Lulu.com if you want a dead tree version. Other publishers will be able to use it since I'll post a text only version on the D101 Games website. Then its going to be supported by the Shattered Lands setting book, which as well as the basic info about the setting will have a city detailed, cults and an adventure, which its self will be supported by a series of four other source/adventure books. Then beyond this I have plans of using SQ as an engine for further Fantasy gaming worlds. Be assured you'll be amoung the first to know when the game is released See http://www.d101games.co.uk/simplequest.html for more details on SimpleQuest See http://www.d101games.co.uk/shatteredlands.html for more details on The Shattered Lands
  4. I've been BRPing in one form since I've been in short pants and although I've wandered off to run these new fangled games (HeroQuest, BurningWheel etc etc) I keep on coming back to roll the d100. I help Tom, Darran and Graham Spearing run Furnace, a small burning RPG con in Sheffield UK, and regularly attend and run too many games at its elder brother Continuum. Currently I'm working with the MRQ SRD to make a completely Free and OGL compliant d100 system, called SimpleQuest, which you can learn more about on the D101 Games website. Its due for release Dec 2007/Feb 2008 at the latest.
