So I had a proposed character who was a female Odayla-worshipper because her family were hunters on the edge of Apple Lane. Does that mean she needs to initiate into 3 cults to get access to a standard array of Runespells for Odayla (Ernalda, Odayla and Orlanth) or only two (Ernalda and Odayla)/(Vingan[Orlanth] and Odalya)?

You want more than one of Orlanth's special spells [the one he gives to Odayla], you will need to initiate into Orlanth [same for Ernalda], and pay the tithes. You only get the spells Odayla description says they get otherwise.

I would suggest to compare the bonus you provide with a bladesharp spell

do you consider that passion provides once a day / week bladesharp 2/3/4 during a full scene is enough, too much or too little ?

Personally I consider that a true passion would give more than a 6 points spell but only if the situation fits really and directly the passion

But that should be seen in a bigger perspective (I give less crystal / matrix / spirits than others I think )

I think it is the flexibility that is the key. Few Spirit magic spells aid in non combat situations this can. You are right, too much too little is a problem, and how many Passions Elements can you use a day/time period? Some limit needs setting.

  3. Ok, a while ago there was content at/on Virtual Con for Runequest, but now there is none, it's not that it is full as far as I can see, was there some problem that I missed in an announcement? I didn't get any real response on the RQ forum so thought this might be more suitable.

It seems a bit weird that something as big as this [GC=, has no RQ, which has had at least a fair representation at the last few.
Has Cthulhu [the monster], been coming at things from a different angle, brooking no opposition in its bid for world domination?

I was looking forward to doing some online stuff.  :(

My votes for Glorantha would be Dorastor (you're gonna need cure chaos wound and psych therapy), The Underworld (you start by being dead), and that place in Pamaltela with all the giant monsters (om nom nom).

My votes for Dragon Pass would be Hydra Valley (om nom nom), Upland Marsh (you're gonna drown), and the Earthshaker Temple (tourists double as sacrifices).

in narrative you can see at the Battle of Pennel Ford where the massed Sunspear fails to eliminate Harrek.

A superhero can singlehandedly win against the flank of a set-up battle. A hero like Argrath may be the equivalent of a full military unit with his closest retainers, but that's one order of magnitude less than a superhero.

Did Arkat start out as a superhero? Probably not, but neither did Harrek or Jar-eel. At which point did Arkat become a superhero?

And does Argrath being one of the five Arkats for Ralios mean he had a chance to get there (provided he united with the other four)?

Someone needs to sneak into his tent when he's having a shower, steal that rug of his!

It's all very well talking in boardgame terms, that doesn't translate well to an RPG.

Re Androgeus. I wasn't suggesting that having a second SH was unbalanced in of itself. Position on board, recruit cost et al, would be a factor.

In WBRM, the game that introduced the concept of superheroes, Cragspider clearly is "just a hero", although with an extreme exotic magic ability and a pet dragon.

It's a pretty narrow range by that criteria, and one hopes was modified by game balance?

Mind you that means I'd have to write up new skills like: Navigation, Do Pirate Accent....

Which would mean I'd have to do a Pirate profession, and sea monsters.

before you know it I'll have written an entire book.......😄😆

Go for it, get your name in lights!

So I was thinking about the different between superheroes and heroes that Jeff laid out in recent Facebook posts and it got me thinking about who is a superhero, so I tried to make a list:

    Jar-Eel

Sedenya, prior to becoming the physical red moon

    Arket

    Harrek

    Yelmgatha

    Belintar

    The Only Old One

Godunya, or maybe we should count him exclusively as a dragon?

    Sheng Seleris

Zzabur, was/is definitely one but would have achieved it through very different means

which are the ones I am missing and/or mistaken on?

Argarth by the end of the Herowars.

They will contradict a lot of Jonstown Compendium material and, for me as a GM, that is also great. I'll have two sets of material to use and can pick good ideas from both.

For example, the HeroQuesting material will be very different from mine. If Chaosium redid Dorastor, it would be very different from mine.

HeroQuesting is different, it's not a place, but a rule system.

I doubt they will ever go back to Dorastor, they've shown absolutely no inclination so far, but if they did, you could always submit a manuscript. 🙂

What is more likely [but still unlikely] is people covering stuff that Chaosium is going to/has already covered. Stuff like the timeline of the Hero Wars.

What's disingenuous is to misquote me.  I wrote that there has been no cults book for this edition.  And there hasn't been.  You really think players and GM's should have to find information in White Wolf and supplements from 40 years ago?  And then adapt it to the current rules?   I don't agree.

The rest of your response is just disrespectful, for no reason I can readily see.  If the short form write-ups and Orlanth is plenty for you, that's nice.  It's not for me, and I don't think it is for a lot of other Runequest fans.

I'm sorry, You are right. There Have been no long form for this edition, but Chaosium say [and pretty much everybody agrees] that the New edition was, by design, close enough so that the Old RQ2 and 3 cults needed little to no tweaking to be fully compatible with RQ:G

All you need do is to go to the Chaosium site and have a look at the products there. Almost all of the long form cults that have been produced By C over the years are available there. In PDF if nothing else. And a great collection it is.

Orlanth and his associate cults [just the spells they give him] provide everything you could ever want from a god, really, any of the blind spots could be filled in with skills. You can play a bookish Orlanth, a berserking Orlanthi, a thievish Orlanth, a charming Orlanthi, a steadfast Warrior Orlanth [in fact one character could play them all, in turn if they wanted, he's that bloody versatile] pick a character type he can do it.

Disrespectful to who? I'm sorry I said 'You' when I meant 'One', but I'm wondering why you got so annoyed about me insulting a made up god?
I was pointing out his all round singing and dancing ability, not the dirtiness/or not of your bum.

With Cults of Prax, which doesn't just deal with Prax incidentally, you have a bucket load of Long Form, for what? $12.95.

The cults book is going to set you back probably $200+postage and is seasons away. So, y'know.
