1d8+DB
So would you allow a PC to spend Luck on a failed Luck roll? If you did, would you impose any kind of penalty (double cost to purchase points for instance)? I'm leaning towards not allowing it. It somehow feels awkward. CastingsofCthulhu
No. For me its because, as you spend luck, the target moves as well. For example, the PC rolls a 54 and has a luck of 50. If he spends 4 luck, he now has 46 luck point but hes modifed the dice roll to 50 so its still a fail.
JonHook
No. No Luck spends on Luck rolls.

The rules say no (and I like to follow the rules), but it kinda seems like a needless rule exception. I just explain it as "sure you can use luck to modify the roll, but it won't do any good... since your target is now lower"
1d8+DB
I missed where they explicitly deny it in the rules. And it is a good point that you would be digging yourself into a hole as you spent points, lowering the target number. 1d8+db
