Using OpenQuest to publish

He surely can. But this could lead to some sort of litigation with Mongoose.

So Newt should leave OpenQuest as based on MRQ1E, a system that even it's own publisher no longer believes in? Not a pleasant option.

Nat20's best advised to stick with BRP's Classic Fantasy then. Not only are Chaosium much friendlier but also it's author has even offered to collaborate! What more could you want?

Britain has been infiltrated by soviet agents to the highest levels. They control the BBC, the main political party leaderships, NHS & local council executives, much of the police, most newspapers and the utility companies. Of course the EU is theirs, through-and-through. And they are among us - a pervasive evil, like Stasi.

IANAL.

In general in this day and age of business (this is no reflection on Mongoose) it would seem that no matter how correct, lawful or just you are, if you threaten the business of a large company, or lawyer, they like to make it not worth your while. Even if you will win, they often know that you will not be able to bear the cost of defending yourself.

I paint a sad picture, however I hope that most people are above this kind of action.

While on the topic of intellectual property, the following game maybe be of interest as a game in its own right, or as source material for a BRP game.

Sufficiently Advanced - A Game of the Far Future

"Each player in Sufficiently Advanced is an agent of the Patent Office, an intergovernmental organization that polices and enforces intellectual property law across the universe. It is an open secret that the Patent Office is run by the Transcendental AIs, whose very beings are spread across time itself. The Transcendentals desire the survival of humanity - as much of it as possible - into the distant future, in order to ease their loneliness. Towards this end, they have hired you, so that you might save humanity."

You might want to check out River of Heaven, which is a Hard Sci-fi OpenQuest game being authored by John Ossoway (Cthulhu Rising) for D101, when it comes out next year :)
