  1. Cool, i'll have to check it out. BTW, i just uploaded an updated version. I added the rest of the 2nd division, then also added the 77th, 82nd and 90th divisions. Also edited the Marine brigade and the 42nd division (added Medal of Honor recipients, the PCs could have known them). I think next i'll added some aerodrome and naval info for those who are sailors or in the air services, naval or army... (there's no USAF at this time).

  2. Definitely watch the already mentioned Centurion and HBO's Rome, also add The Eagle to it. Then you can also pick up any of the following adventures books; De Horror Cosmico, Malum Umbra, Extrico Tabula, Lux in Tenebras, The Gods Hate Me or The Legacy of Arrius Lurco, or the Invictus Companion and just read them. If these don't get your goat, well,... you'll lose SAN.

  3. Hi Everyone, wanted to run this by you and get some feedback if you‘d be so kind. Can you take a look at the uploaded file and let me know what you think?

Here’s what I have. For those choosing a military occupation for their PC, this will provide historical 1920s detail so one can say, “I was in H Company, 2nd Battalion, 104th Infantry Regiment in the 26th Infantry Division and fought at Chateau-Thierry and Soissons”. (GMs can also use it for NPC backgrounds).

My goal is to make it easy for a player to flesh out a historical military background. And to provide anchor bits of information the players can use to research more if they wish.

I have a lot written and use it for my group so I thought I’d share it. Let me know if you’d like to see more. If so, is it too much history, too much detail or not enough detail, change it or add, etc?

I’m going to be adding to it, like the rest of the divisions in the AEF, which will be shorter than those provided here. Then also units from other wars, ie, the Banana Wars, Philippines, China, AEF North Russia, then some Allied units, CEF, BEF, Czech Legion, White Russians… maybe not in that order,  it’ll be a work in progress.

Anyway, here are the first 3 units with some general WW1 info and a TOE. These units are a little longer because they have a more colorful background.

     Thx, Gil

  4. Great insight, thanks. I never thought to think of it as a Storm Bull place, but that totally makes sense, i like it... and i can totally see them getting riled up lol.

  5. Thank you for that extra info... i did the 13th Age Glor KS and forgot what the stretch goals were. For the adventure i was rewriting, i guess Backford wont be the starting place now. (Maybe Sklar... needs to be on the Siphon). I love that picture. Much more detail since i saw it last and nice detailed description, thank you. If she rebirthed a Thanatari with heads, well, nevermind.

  6. Hmmm, you're right, this helps.

I may have read something in a Tradetalk, TotRM or Kaethela.fr. It's on the map in the Dragon Pass Gazetteer but isn't in the GtG. I could flesh it out then. Taking into account the Fish Road goes up the Siphon, past Bullpen and into Thumb lake and who would be in a village that sits in the heel of the print. Maybe wooden watch towers like in The 13th Warrior? Anyway, using whatever data to influence the flesh out. Thanks for that info. G

  7. Hi Folks, who runs the Bullpen? Is it Aeolian knights or more traditional Storm Bull and Orlanthi? And now that the Red Moon temple is gone from Sartar... did these battles get rid of Queen Jab or is her Queendom still present. (Wondering if the Bullpen is still watching for incursions from the print.. well, those may always be there but curious about the Queendom). I appreciate the help. Thx, Gil

  8. What are the Sartarite tribal relations like? Like would a Colymar be able to safely walk the roads to the Gray Dog Inn and have a drink unmolested by the Gray Dogs (althought maybe ribbed a little)? Or how about a Lismelder going to Clearwine fort... would the Colymar harrass him short of attacking? I guess if the certain clans have a beef with each other, then it could be hostile. So conversely if not hostile, are other tribes allowed to walk thru another tribes lands? (Maybe yes but their expected to announce themselves?)

  9. It was nerve wracking... Steve Perrin showed up to play. That's like me teaching a punching class at the boy's club and Mike Tyson shows up :). I say this in jest. Steve was such a cool and down to earth fun guy and the conversation alone was an enriching experience. And any rules questions were cleared up pretty quick.

There wasn't a starting time so I used Clayday, Disorder Week, Storm Season since it was rainy and cloudy. A question came up on if Demoralize would work on the Sprul-Pa and after a discussion, i ruled it would not since the Sprul-Pa had no Intelligence. When the rock lizards were encountered, Vasana charged them with her bison and used her lance. I she hit and i ruled the rock lizard was knocked back while it took Vasana 2 turns to turn around and come back (i had her moved thru the attack since a charging bison doesnt just stop)... the rock lizard was toast, but if it were alive, i would not have allowed it to attack since it was hit first by the lance and knocked back.

The party bargained with Idrina and was able to come home with 2/3 of the herd. They lost a further 9 cows on the way home when they fumbled their herd roll. Varanik wasn't encountered since the party chose to wait until night to investigate the tower and they didnt really look into the ruins except to find the cow pens.

The PCs had great detail that added flavor. The adventure evoked Sartarite life that i seemed to have been missing... well, it's back and i want more. Everyone loved the passions and runic abilities and the mechanics worked well

Here's a pic or Steve and my friend John at Brookhurst Hobbies in Garden Grove CA... then another pic of some RQ treats.

    Thanks, Gil.

  10. Hi Folks, i'm getting ready to run The Broken Tower tomorrow, Sunday, and  have a few questions.

*Question on Combat Options, Disengaging Retreat vs Fleeing, What's the difference? Fleeing says turn and run and no parry/dodge chance. Retreating says one round of parrying/dodging, but then what? Do i get to run away? if not then i'm not retreating and i'm still in combat. If i can move, then why would i use Flee which has no defense, when i can Retreat and use defense the move. (does Retreat let you move half while Flee lets you move full?)

*SPOILER Question - Page 32 right column, under 'The Old Ruins', the first bullet point: If the PCs make a successful Scan, they see a head peeking over the wall. Who is this, Varanik?

*Are the additional pregen PC Shaman and additional Shaman rules on the Chaosium webiste? The Quickstart rules mentioned them but when I looked for them Icouldnt find. I'd like to have another PC.

I am sooo happy this came out and I can't wait for more!!! Truly Christmas in summer has arrived.

And that armour is a direct homage to Luise Perrine's wonderful cover art for the original Chaosium editions of the game.

That's awesome, such a class act i have to say. Cheers!

  12. SCENARIO SPOILER

In this scenario on page 352, the map, number '5' on the map the 'Bullet Casings', What does that refer to or where do they come from? I couldnt find a description in the scenario. Should I consider number '5' to be the 'The First Kidnapper' on page 353 that's shooting at them?

  13. I really like Mythic Iceland and hope more comes out. I also suggest you pick up Mythras/RQ6 Mythic Britain and their new supplement Mythic Britain: Logres which has detail on the Saxons... both are superb! (I also like Alephtar Games Crusaders of the Amber Coast). I just like this setting and i'm looking to pick up what comes out.

I would have loved a comparable treatment of Aldryami

There was a book by Shannon Appelcline called 'Oak and Thorn' i believe, anyway, it never saw print. I would love to see this one released. His material on the Aldryami is dead on, insightful and detailed.

  15. I would buy it... Sharpe's Rifles and Hornblower would be very nice. I also watched the 2016 TV series War & Peace and that got me wanting Napoleonic's in Russia type setting. Then that got me over to the West Coast of the United States where the Spanish were colonizing with their missions and the Russians coming down from Kodiak Alaska to Fort Ross in central California... i'm going off on a tangent. Yes, i would gladly buy it, love the whole setting.

(Also watching Taboo and Jonathan Strange & Mr Norell which are very conducive to alternate Napoleonic's)

  16. You should look at some of the RQ6/Mythras stuff and convert it. It's very easy. I converted Caravan from Book of Quests. I think i had the caravan leave from Jansholm. Then to Smithstone then Aylesford (i can't remember, but it was quite easy). Anyway, RQ6 has a good amount of scenarios out and they're top notch.
