  1. Considering how careful Chaosium is these days of saying that something will be coming out at a specific time, I think the fact that this was claimed to be the year of QuestWorlds, and we have seen nothing yet, means that other things have taken precedence. I think that probably is RQ, as it sells...

For piece of mind, I think it's best to consider Robin's design a bit too much for most people, and act like we'll probably never see it again.

That being said, I'm very thankful Chaosium have provided us with the SRD document, so you can use it at home.

Is there a general Glorantha supplement in the pipeline? I notice that there’s no mention of one in the Glorantha Publications thread, though Dragonrise and Fonrit supplements are mentioned.

Don't hold your breath. QW is as close as unsupported as a game line can be. RQ sells good, so it gets the attention.

From where I'm looking at it, it seems to be more a 'get a franchise IP on the street' sort of thing. Pushing a Bladerunner K/S instead of getting promised support for The One Ring out. It took them over a year after The One Ring's print K/S shipped to get one of the stretch goals out to the public, for example.

Not to try to be snarky, but I think you need to tell FL that. They probably want to hear what people are dissatisfied with.

AFAIK, Arkat was born (and possibly conceived) on the Other Side, during the Sunstop. His mother appears to have been the daughter of a Horali (less sure about that, or how the caste of Brithini children is assigned - whether by birth order or by paternal descent). She might have brought a sword with her. If that blade was adamantine, she would have had to "loan" it...

Arkat's mother probably would have seen the Dawn with her own eyes, too. The Brithini wife of Seshnegi emperor Keramalos (aka Kralas, 887-901), Somali, might have been her age mate. (Immortality avoiding menopause... one reason the Brithini don't have that many children might be that ovulation needs to be magically triggered?)

Where on earth have you gotten this from? Are you just letting inspiration flow or where does that come from??

Possibly true! I believe that Prof Barker basically just had opposing sides roll d100, highest roll prevailed, and went with that.

The basics of Tekumel are not much different from what any set of RPG rules could handle, the magic is specifically structured though. But the cultural differences are what makes it what it is, and those are usually generated by the interactions between the players/NPCs rather than rules per se.

Yeah, and I think people make too much out of the magic. Sure it has those fancy names and they are sorted by temple and all that, but ignore that and just play to explore the world. I really don't understand why we need to many rules sets. I've played with S&W and Fate and both worked just fine, and they are very, very different.

I do it a lot simpler, as I prefer simpler magic in HeroQuest/QuestWorlds.

Generally, all spells are Breakouts. Runespells might be Breakouts of a Rune or of a Cult Keyword; spirit Magic spells are Breakouts of a Tradition, a Shaman Keyword or a Cultural Keyword; Sorcery spells are Breakouts of Grimoires, Religious Keywords or Background Keywords.

Some spells might be standalone abilities, but are better off as Breakouts. standalone Abilities, for me, are just Keywords without Breakouts. If a standalone spell gets a couple of Breakouts then it becomes a keyword with those Breakouts as spells, anyway.

All spells are equal. I don't have any silly rules about this type of spell is only used as an augment, that kind of spell is an effect or that kind of thing. As spells are Breakouts, they can be used as direct adds to the keyword, which can be used as an augment, but I could use Teleport to move to another location without it doing anything else, similarly I could use the Face of Lanbril Breakout of my Lanbril keyword to pass some guards.

And that is about it for me.

This is how I would use it as well. HQ has traditionally been way to crunchy and cumbersome, and I have seen @soltakss talk about this way a long time now that I have started to imagine it as the sensible way to do things. If there are every any official rules published, they are probably being ignored in favour of this simple and gameable system.

B-but the p&p rpg hasn't received patch updates or DLCs in months! It's dead! DEAAAAAAAD!

    😆

But, seriously,  I think the long fallow time has not exactly helped the sales figures. It will be interesting to see what the generic edition can do for it.

  8. Thanks Richard. I'm in the very early stages, and for now just thinking out loud about what can be done. I have run a voice chat game of Forbidden Lands on discord, and it was surprisingly much like a table game, so that's what I'm aiming for. PbP is a bit too slow for me.

  9. The little phrase ""What my mother's sister told me", the female viewpoint on Sun County life" made me very curious, as I find Sun County a very cool place to have adventures. Do you have that text around @Jane or do someone else?

I did a modification for Heortland as the later entries need to be different (i.e. Belintar and after) as below. I've also done one for Nochet/Esrolia.

If you'd be inclined to share, it would be really interesting to see the one for Nochet/Esrolia.

I started work on an Arkati Secret Society questionnaire for Safelster back on Google+. I think I should have that post in a zip file or something...

I *love* so see that if you manage to dig it up and feel like sharing. I'm so interested in that part of Glorantha, it's definitely my favourite place.
