I have various ideas about how it could be adapted, and may include them in the last book, but would also be happy to discuss them with anyone who wanted to take on a larger task of creating a bigger piece

The reason why it would be the last book is because of the sheer amount of work still ahead of me. Once that is done I'll consider writing an extra appendix of those ideas

I think you could quite easily make something interesting about being pro-Lunar but anti-Lunar Empire, like wanting the local Lunars to get integrated into the Pavis Plan. It's hardly a stretch to decide that the Lunar Empire is an enemy of the Lunar Way, after all (as the White Moonies demonstrate).

The lunars can make a come back at anytime you like, Argrath did bugger all to secure Pavis or Prax, arguably he even weakened it

I very much believe the people who care about Pavis were glad to see him come and glad to see him leave.

  3. I think it makes sense to tie this into projects to restore the Praxian Green Age (which despite the name is in the Golden Age), by bringing back Genert or (more easily) Tada.

Full harmony requires bringing everyone (non-Chaotic) into the tent, including trolls, Praxians, and remaining Lunars. This is probably harder than just beating them up. Pavis himself failed to integrate the trolls/Darkness, which might have set the whole thing up for failure. But the Hero Wars are here, and all things are possible...

Sorry, another question concerning combat: if a PC is being attacked by an enemy, and they have already engaged, and another PC wants to get in the middle to avoid his friend getting attacked, I guess that the PC originally being attacked needs to disengage first (page 195 of the rules), or the only effect of his friend getting in the middle would be suporting the original PC in combat but without freeing the PC from the attacks, correct?

There’s very little ”pulling aggro” unless the GM decides it, but the Distraction spell does it.

Ok so I think I am going to play it like this: the PCs pretty much all have high Hate (Lunar Empire) passions but not as high as the leader of the rebel outlaws they are currently with (largely by accident). That leader (Anya, exiled Sartarite) wants the captive dead and forcefully argues that they will all end up nailed to a cross if they don’t just kill him. The captured Carmanian argues in his most reasonable tones that this is not the case we honour all such agreements etc. But who do they believe…?

There's another giant risk here - even if the ransom exchange goes off without a hitch (which might well happen), the person they just released is under no obligation to shut up about them. So it's perfectly possible that the exchange goes fine, but now there's witnessing, identification, and people sent to hunt the PCs down like the rebels and troublemakers they are.

This in turn could potentially be altered by getting an oath from the captive.  Doubly so if backed up with an Oath spell.

(Or in a perfect world, you could have a trickster in the party who  gets some murdering done so the rest of you won't have to. 🙂 )

Good simplification.  Just one note, you say its possible to flee in the same round you do a knockback, but a knockback cannot happen until SR12, so here are no SR left for movement, so that suggested action is not possible.

It's almost true, though - what happens is that the knockback causes a disengage, which means you're free to run away (turning it into a chase instead if the other guy follows you) next turn.

Is it actually worth it to delve into the how and why to work out whether you agree for the 2% (or even 10-15%) of wrongly convicted outlaws?

Under the Lunar occupation, I imagine this number would have been very, very high, way above 50%.

It's something that tarnishes your character. A black mark on your record.

I don’t think this is necessarily true - it will be all about context. If you take bloody revenge on someone and your chief has to hand out a three-year outlawry for political reasons, which you spend looting the Rubble and return wealthier than you were, I don’t imagine your stint with outlawry will be held against you, and you will have earned reputation along the way.

  9. I think the number one low-cost high-simplification rules change you can make is to allow just one combat action (cast a spell or attack) per round, and use SR purely as an initiative tracker and not also as an action economy. Say what you will about D&D, but the Standard/Move/Minor action economy there worked really well.

I also ruled "one skill/rune/passion augment per scene, and only the fumbles differ" because of what people have already mentioned here, how the rules are almost but not quite the same and you constantly have to look up the small differences.

BRP in general, and RQG in particular, is not a tightly designed system. It's a system with a super simple core and layers of detail that hang loosely to it and are there to add color and granularity. If you strip the layers you will lose color but the system will not break down. In other words, BRP degrades nicely. That's in my opinion the single most important unwritten rule at the mechanical level.

Completely agree - the ability of BRP rules to fade into the background or be used loosely is very strong. For instance, full battles take so much time, I’ve taken to just making single Battle rolls when an encounter doesn’t seem worth all the bells and whistles, and it’s easy to adapt more modern rules design (for instance, I use ”Let it Roll” from Burning Wheel for tracking, sneaking and other ongoing activity, rather than rolling per time period).

    RQG is big but loose.

  11. Might ”Andin” be used much like ”Krjalki”, i.e. not really being a category at all apart from ”those bad beings we don’t like or accept”? Then there would be no end of what could fit under the term.

  12. CoC SAN is not merely mental stress and poor mental health - it’s about having your illusions shattered and understanding the true, awful nature of the universe. This kind of thing doesn’t automatically seem like it would apply to Glorantha - the closest thing to it is Illumination.

(That said, rules for mental stress have become very common in modern/neotrad RPGs, and fill a strong purpose there. CoC SAN might not be the best rules engine for it, though.)

I totally agree.  Actually you can get flint/obsidian/ natural glass heads to 1 micron edges, which you can't do with metals.

There was a practical experiment to reproduce Egyptian mummification, and their conclusion was that when it comes to working with skin, bronze sucks and obsidian rules. Even today, when you want a super fine edge in an experiment, crackin* glass in certain ways is very useful.

Interesting - especially when you consider in Glorantha  there's a variety of Enchant ( metal ) rituals to allow your copper ( or whatever ! ) axe to have the strength and durability of bronze.

    Better, even, for copper.

Enchant Stone would be super useful for some cultures!

Even under the old terminology, Saints were humans who had discovered truths of the Invisible God.  Which kinda made the idea of a God being a Saint always sounding off.

That makes it the ideal reinterpretation if you want to incorporate other gods under the IG? Not another god (because there aren’t any other gods), but still worthy of veneration. Ehemeristic Orlanth.
