Thank you very much, I will look into these settings, modules, and books.

I have no clue what thou art saying, but I think I will in time:) I think you are giving me questions to ask myself about my character...

As I am unlikely to be, as my parents call it, "getting a life" anytime soon... Might as well!

I'm currently playing in 3 RQ games, all of which are online. 🙂 Skype, Discord, Zoom or if you must Roll20 etc. There are plenty of online options. In these modern times it's easier to run sessions online so travel and childcare isn't a thing.

This was true for me even before the current events.

My problem is really no one to play with. Even with all those options most people want to play not run and Glorantha is a niche community, so much so that you have to educate people before they can run and they don't nessacerily want to do that.

I have had any luck finding a group. Lots of metaphorical radio silence. And I think the nicheness of my desire of play will limit me further.

  3. Welcome to the Tribe!

Also Glorantha is an addictive setting a friend hooked me and then I started tribe building. I also recommend the Red Cow Campaign setting (the coming Storm and the Eleven Lights or anything Heroquest related as they can be ported into Runequest easily.

I also highly recommend the Thunder Rebels and Storm Tribe books, as they reflect more gods and how the Orlanthi view themselves.. (and how the culture works. Like Orlanthi recognize more than 2 genders and multiple types of marriage and adventuring and community is a staple of Glorantha.

You are not a d&d murder hobo. You have a home, siblings, parents and grand parents, aunt uncles and elders to come home to.

    They form who you are.

Don't like trolls? Then is it personal experience or cultural duty for you not to like them?

Do you love or hate the Lunar Empire?

What about the dichotomy of Ernalda "there is always another way", and Orlanthi "Violence is always an option" & " no one can make you do anything".

Glorantha is a rich world. Live in it.

  4. As I do more reading on the Red Cow Clan, I realize how interesting it will be to plot the Glimmers tone clan's journey.

They may no long be the Glimmers tones after all this is said and done.

Their clan's women circle and Ring is made up of mostly women. I'd like you all to help me create some male characters or even female ones to help me flesh out this soon to be tribe.

There are skme Seven Mothers Priestesses and the like amoungst the tribe.  The clan simply took any who needed protection and showed skills and resources. And the few Lunar folk who are now apart of the tribe form almost a bloodline. They bring the flavor and wealth  of a city. Along with the Esrolian derived folks they bring polish to the tribe.

  5. This sounds line an interesting way to figure out where they're going to set up shop.

I originally wanted it close enough to Dragon Pass, Esorilia, and the Grazelands to allow for a mix of people to flow from any of those places. But maybe Dagori Ikarnth is a good place to start.

I mean I can make up a place easily enough. I guess calling it Voria's Garden and making actually kind of inaccessible to the general 'public' would make sense in protecting the small clan, their boundary is marked by the mountains, which is still a very long and large valley, I'd imagine, that the amount of land they have is 'similar' in size to the Colymar's, providing them with room to grow, graze and protect their crops, livestock and people.

They're going to need a place to their initation for female and males, which I imagine are designated spaces for their tribe.

I did start thinking about the things I know about this tribe, what I am creating and what I want.
It occurs to me, that their clan Wyter probably should be a Koza, instead of a antlered horse (mare). Though looking at the Red Cow Clan, building a /new/ tribe is going to be awkward, as the bloodlines, wouldn't have formed yet. No would a clan hero have emerged, as the group/proto-clan has only been around for 10 years. Though doing this at the very start of the Hero Wars is a great way to draw on that energy.

  6. I mean is it possibly to backwards recreate things? As I looked at say Storm Tribe and thunder rebels and even Imperial Handbooks, I loved the various Mental & Physical abilities for each of the deities as it gave a sense of what one got, for being an initiate ? A Layfollower?

This is this part of me that wants to smoosh things together. Like some of the harder core concept from RQG, wit the wonderfully light narrative stuff from HW  and HQG.

  7. So as I learn about Glorantha from the tribe, I began to do an exercise and began building a clan.

This folder contains the ramblings of my  feverish mind, I present the piecemeal forming of The Glimmerstone Clan.  Everything is a work in progress and I'd love advice.

They've got a few unique things to them:

    1. The Koza/Koska (?) - They're Sheep, they act more like Goats(intelligent, curious, but have a strong sheep like herding instinct and are unique)
    2. The original group of Women were from clans broken or destoryed in Starbrow's Rebellion ins 1613. As a result the Women turned to Vinga and became Red Women, for nearly 3 years.
    3. in 1615 the Aranwyth granted them a small section of undesirable Tula, and the group made a small shanty-town. It was then the women began to realize that they were a clan, forged by their experiences. Some men, old and young come to work with the women. Pure Horse, folk, Lunar castaways, and Orlanthi all leaving together because survival outweighs their cultural grudges. Heler is invoked to hold the group together.
    4. 1618 - The Koza/Koska are Quested for by priestess of Nevala the Ewe, who had been with the women.

1625 - The land the people have been living on can no longer support their growing number of people, animals and land. The Earth Priestess Umeka calls on the Gods, to show them way. One of the girl's who has now reached Ten years old is used as a  living conduit in an attempt to find Voria's Garden- a hopeful place for a new Tula, even if it is outside Dragon Pass.

It's me mostly musing, but also wanting to try and do something distinctly differently. I am considering making their Tula outside Dragon Pass (I know strange), but a clan this small would stand no chance of holding their own or taking land from a bigger clan.

In my head I see their Tula as 'Hidden',  it's distinctly a place that has never seen humans before (or it's been a long long time).

It's visually a cross between a alpine Austrian valley maybe. Rivers and lakes should feed it..

Or does one just literally make such a place up, and how does one find a place to put it in on the map?

Are there Heroquests for Wyters and making Clans? (Its something I wanted to write about, but I think most of the things I have read only reference it.)

I do want to write about hte Heroquest for the Koza- which in of itself would be New Quest

Anyone want to point me in the right direction or guide me in coming up with how these things should be written?

  8. I do wonder why, they don't offer up the idea that maybe change is something they'll need to do. You cannot go 'through the Curse' ( they've tried that apparently). Working around it might mean like some one else said ' Ernalda said "There is always another way", what about creating someone thing else.

While I know only a little of the Uz, seeking to twist the curse into something useful might be a good way, we know it affects the Mistress race's ability to give birth to others like themselves, so perhaps it is time to take humans, and raise them,  make them outside the curse, but giving them the right 'stuff' to be ' surface trolls', effectively begin to shape and mold them with some of those Troll values.

  9. I noticed Hero Wars Roleplaying in Glorantha was never  produced and turned into a PDF, we have all the other things except the core book nessacery to use the other suppliments, was there ever a reason for that?

A bit of a spoiler. Adult initiation can be deadly. Just ask my character who is trapped in the underworld and with any luck will be rescued by the other Wildlings. :D

Wait. your character got trapped in the underworld? WEll that's interesting a rescue mission should be attempted.

  11. So if the Tribes are all labeled and listed, does this mean that onl clans are free for creation in Glorantha. I am trying to recognize what to call the group I am creatin using the HQG rules.  Since as people have stated in 1625 there are twenty four tribes of Sartar.

Is there a way to distinguish what tribes go with what clans or are the clans intentionally undefined?

  12. Well.. ok... (I keep loving Glorantha's Weird excentricities). Hmm maybe I'll try and figure out how to  do a lunar character, and how to introduce people to Glorantha via Lunar society.

My imedaiate thought was : That is some Sailor Moon level stuff. and then I realized. .no this  bigger than that. This multiple cities. So how do people get up there? Or do people not travel any more anyone up there is already a demigod?

I think you mean the Red Dancer of Power. She’s one of the 11 VIPs described in the Rough Guide (they’re all on the cover). Here’s her character sheet from Life of Moonson:

There is a city on the Red Moon? Wait what?- There is still so much I do not know about Glorantha.

I guess I'll read this and get interesting idea about Lunar PCs.

HeroQuests are fun, I am glad that you want to try them.

Arcane Lore goes into them in detail. Mongoose did some good stuff around HeroQuests, but they are hard to get hold of.

Next month, I should be publishing Secrets of HeroQuesting under Jonstown Compendium, which should explain HeroQuesting. Also should have Secrets of HeroQuesting 2 which will contain over 30 HeroQuests.

Yes please look like I'll get that cause I am interested in hero questing.
