  1. First heard this when we had successfully set up the Jasper Heritage Folk Festival for the very first time way back in '85, at the Bedfrod Inn in the basement of the Baptist Church. It was led by Mr (Gordon?) Bell and the rest of us bellowed God damn them all! at the top of our voices. I can still feel the goosebumbs!

This might be one of my favourite bits of music of all time! Right up there with Ode to Joy, the Brandenburg Concertos. La Sacre Du Printemps,  Harmonium, Harmonium or Dark Side of the Moon (et al)!

  2. Now here is a song of a type that I  could easily guarantee has been song in this temple, I could even take the truth spell of the greybeards on this,  A song of this type has bee song in The Temple.

Granted, that temple is on Salt Street... In Pavis... and is now called by the unwashed "Gimpy's", us old grognards still hoist a few at The Temple. I swear!

There are better versions, but this has the lyrics...

    You mean the dolphins?

Of course not, winged quadruped. Look down, I am referring to us, the little white mice.

Tell me more, tell me more

    Barbarians like to  sing

This could become quite a thing...

Or... well.  Really, we don't know.  REALLY we don't!  Unless you've had PM's with the people who React'ed, and gotten them to expand upon their clicks.  😳

    Yeah, what he said.

Now, I may have misread the situation. That is the point. As a new player, I don't understand what those reacts mean. No one has ever reacted "Sad" to an attempt to help before. I'm an experienced gamer and I've always believed that it is incumbent on experienced players to work extra hard to welcome new players.

Oh and klecser, we love ya!

I was going to send this just as a private post but...

My first sad face was a bit of a disaster too, like the first scratch on a new paint job. You are a fine member of the community, but remember, so are a lot of folk here. You don't usually cause trouble (okay, never) but that can be said about a lot of us (yeah, I know, not me... troublemaker here!) You contribute in a positive way and don't get the credit you are due. I feel that was sometimes, but... You do a lot around here, kudos

    We are all uz.

The silence of typing at home as opposed to seeing your conversation partner or competitor is a bit alienating. Is he dissing me, in an in-club kind of way? What did he really mean?

What am I trying to say... and floundering at...

I tried to help someone here the night I broke my glasses, I was not helping and the other individual was giving me no indication how I wasn't. They were just getting madder and madder that I was so... and I was getting more confused and pained, Ever try to read 10 pt font without much needed glasses. By the last post I was in serious pain (close to a migraine), confused hurt and I just gave up with a one sentence post. It was not mean but it was not sympathetic either.

Alas, we have not seen the individual since... Screwed up, or was I human... the other individual as well?

What you are looking at here is a very minor version of this... misunderstanding, but a very real one. We all are alone looking at pixels posing as words passing before our eyes. Pixels can't hurt, Intentions can, but worse so can misunderstandings, If one were to try to follow these words below, I think we will all be better off

    Be nice...

I encourage each group to try having trollkin in the party, at least once. It's... an experience. Our current trollkin is effectively the Issaries merchant's pet because he keeps feeding him table scraps and just barely being useful. And of course, an excellent reason for any trollkin to be partied up with human adventurers is that they won't eat him. Probably. Pluses for trollkin are Darksense and a point of AP.

    Hilarious!

So, clearly my comment above is considered "Sad" by people, and I don't understand why. I was just trying to be helpful. Why is it "Sad" to ask a designer to give insight on the design process? It's a rare privilege that we have from Chaosium designers. If you don't want me to be helpful here, I'll stop commenting.

I would not be put off by the sad comment, assume that it does not say much other than I am sad. It could be that they are sad because they have not seen an answer to your question or that you have to ask the question instead of it being clear.

In any case, don't give up yet. We do not know why you got the sad face, perhaps they will answer you here or you can ask them in a private post. In any case, I can not imagine that you are being disparaged for asking for design perspective,

Speaking of placated, unless you are the nasty sort a trip to a library specializing in ancient lost relatives of Maran Gor to find another way to placate Idrema might be in order seeing as all she seems to want is blood and lots of it. That would be where I would start to build a spirit cult...

If not a library, I suppose a quest for the spirits who not only knew Idrema back in the day but spirits with this knowledge required,  might work seeing as we are playing at least an assistant shaman. Again, you might gain shamanhood in the time it takes to gain this knowledge.

But... IIRC, the Wooden Sword had to be returned to the elves to be used properly. So, there is Humakt - a cult that can be worshipped by humans, ducks, elves, and the rare troll. If Humakt gave them all a mission, they'd be forced to work together (but probably not happily). We could also argue that joining Humakt not only severs family and cult ties, but also racial.

    Good call.

Another question somewhat related.  How would you handle if the Assistant Shaman wanted to start a Spirit Cult with Idrema?  Would he have to wait until he was a full shaman?

I would guess the prospective shaman might want to gain some more power, defences and knowledge first. Whether this means becoming a shaman or not is for your table to decide I would think but... my two bolgs...

The force known as Idrema is not a friend or patron merely a goddess without all the power, and worshipers that go with the title. Worse, while no god thinks of its little playthings as more that servants, this one is not removed from, your presence by time. She can hurt you directly. Getting one's power and defences increased might help with surviving  the first attempts at worship. This one also seems to be damaged or perhaps was never totally sentient. SO finding out whether or not she has enough thought to be useful for worship might not be a bad idea, plus finding out what powers she might have had and can be quested for, as well as what she still has... as well as problems she could cause (beyond the obvious) and how she can be placated.

Speaking of placated, unless you are the nasty sort a trip to a library specializing in ancient lost relatives of Maran Gor to find another way to placate Idrema might be in order seeing as all she seems to want is blood and lots of it. That carries a lot of cultural differences. For me, Tango music will be indeletably linked to Scandinavia and Finland rather than Argentina since my stays there. Peruvian reed-flutists and players of guitars of all sizes (could be replaced by russian balalaikas of all sizes) are part of the German pedestrian zone experience, and German medieval reenactment music like Corvus Corax has been co-opted by the Dark Eye community among German roleplayers (ugh).

I was going to mention how all over baroque and medieval music the d&d crew are. Forget Gregorian chants and the Medieval Babes.

You're right, attacks on the same SR are supposed to be in DEX order, or simultaneous if both have the same DEX. Since it's quite ok to resolve them simultaneously, though, I just skip the DEX thing and go straight to simultaneous on the SR. It's quicker and easier, and leads to more frequent interesting outcomes.

Thanks Phil, glasses aint worth a damn these days.

And needless to say, but allow me to say it anyway, you are correct g33k.

A bit like the cooking book project by Claudia Loroff. Purest geekery, though.

Entirely, but having seen what can be done with music, number and religions (Bach and St Mathew's Passion or Jesu Joy of Man's desire come to mind). In any case I would love to hear the concept when finished Joerg. Let me know.

In no way do I claim that these are canon, or even lore lawyers proof but I just use them to add atmosphere. I have never found anything that I felt that fitted with the Lunar pantheon, anyone got any suggestions.

    Truly apologizing for the geekery.

IMO Sacre du Printemps is the perfect accompanyment for the Wild Temple rites. No Chaos required, only raw Creation powers of Arachne Solara (and perhaps some digestive problems after giving birth to Time).

Okay, that would not only work but would fit into the temple theme of the topic!
