  1.  I was thinking of how an Exorcist would use the trance skill( perhaps called prayer or ritual  ) skill to find out if Demons are present. And then using binding skill to enter spirit combat to exorcise the Demon. Im looking at exorcism as a good example of what spirit combat would look like, instead of two guys rolling dice.

  2.  Was rereading my copy of RQ6 when it struck  me the rules for animism would work very well for an Exorcist in a late Medieval to modern game. Granted an Exorcist will not often bind evil demons for future use but he could ask Angels and good spirits for favors. Was wondering if idea has occurred to anyone else or maybe even tried it.

Aquelarre is definitely not particularly dark. As el_octogono has written, you have both sides of the coin. You can also ignore the coin altogether :) and have mundane adventures. I have a supplement (forgot its title) where a 'retired' knight is going back home and has all manner of adventures on his way back. An excellent campaign game (if slightly railroad-ey).

Did the Knight get to fight a Wind Mill

  4.  Im a backer of Aquelarre as it sounds interesting. Might mention  the Magic system sounds interesting with   Miracles for the Religious types while Pagans/non Religious  use Magic. I also like the idea that you not only have big bad guys like Demons around but you also have Angels you can ask for help. They gave a write up    recently on a Guardian Angel. They will not fight for you but will give you advice.

  5. If you're looking for a published or a bottled home-grown construct that caters to your love of "genricness" and "streamlineyness", you might find it difficult to find a nicely wrapped hybrid beyond that which you already seem to have discovered in using Ren D100 and the BGB to fill in the gaps or needs.

I wonder if BRP GMs aren't all by nature hyrid-eers in one sense or another. One uses general hit points, another uses hit locations, another uses wound levels and still another tries to get away with no HP at all :)! We love to tinker. That's the beauty of the system; take what you need or want and reserve the rest for later.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

    Cheers,

I agree with that. One thing I love about BRP is taking stuff from other games and fitting it in.

  6.  I have my old copy of Elder secrets. And there some big nasty things in there.

Here stats for the Crimson Bat a Demigod in Glorantha

     Str 340

      con 1200

    siz 204

    dex 20

     int 13

Magi points depend on its last meal but average about 2500

has 85 armor points on all hit location

Attack include tongue at 750% for 12d6 plus 40  while bite does 33d6

has about 6 other attack beside those .Lowest damage is an area effect gas cloud that does 3d6+10

Or in other words if you fight it you are going to be a light snack.

I think I have stats on Cacodemon someplace as he not as nasty( but still very nasty) someplace I will post them when I find them.

  7. Unfortunately we do not have a Friendly Neighborhood Game Store here in Vallejo.  We have one bookstore, which just recently opened, for a city of 112 thousand.  I think there's an educational materials and book store, and maybe a couple of religious bookstores, lots of churches, but no game stores and no comic stores etc.  My closest Game Store is a thirty minute drive, and true, I could play there, but I am trying to start something local, with local people, and also get people into the hobby for the first time.  So count your blessings that you do have a game store.

I agree Amazon.com is evil.  I order directly from Chaosium, or elsewhere when needed.  Anyhow, cheers.i

I Drive a little over thirty miles now to my game Store here( GMI games in Chino) I do have a Barnes in Noble about three miles from here but no real book store. And my comic book store just sells Comic and action figures plus Pokémon cards last time I checked a few years ago. We have two nice educational stores nearby  which I have picked up some dinosaurs and various toobs and other plastic animals for gaming though.

  8.  Just because the Powers say there a

Not sure why the "powers that be" would provide an escape route at all; much easier if  it is  a one-way trip for your other-wise unwanted riff-raff.

Now if it is some kind of martial contest, like some gladiatorial version of  'Survivor',  than yes, there would have to be  some possibility of getting off the island

Just because the powers tell you there a way off the island does not mean they are telling the truth

  9.  Ever see the Japanese movie Battle Royale? I believe its on the web now. Story is a Bunch of Kids from a Class that does not meet government  standards are dropped on an Island and they have to fight to the death until one is left alive. They are given a back pack of supplies and a time limit.

Have several teams drop off on the island at the same time and tell them the teleporter will take the first 6 or what ever number you like off the island so there completion to be the first there. Have the teleporter need an amulet that changes every year and have harden  survivors from last years contest  out to get this years amulet from the players. Or have one of the opposing teams be composed of People the player would normally hold in high regard( A leading Political reformer, a well resected and Noble General or the Standard Beautiful Princess who throne was taken by her evil Uncle etc) Do the players stand aside and let the Princess and her retunue go and try to claim her throne or is it everyone for themselves?

  10. I agree its up to a Cult to decide which spells an initiate can learn. An agricultural deity will not have trouble with people learning bless Crops for example, But a Cult might want to get to know you better before they let you learn spells like Sunspear and Sever Spirit.

  11.  We have a small core of consistent games and other who come in and out at times.

If I could give any advice it is to support your local game store when possible.. Yes it cheaper on Amazon , but Amazon does not give you a place to play or network.. Even if my game store does not have something in stock , I give them a chance to order it first before I order on line. Beside Amazon evil and is an arm of Krasht but that another story.

Also Im willing to change thing in Glorantha at times for my players. For example one of my player really wanted to play a wizard while the rest are Orlanthi. So I don't have my Orlanthi going around burning Wizards at the Stake As I don't want half the party trying to kill the other half.

  12.

I think the apparent Utopiawith a dark underlining is more accurate for the future.

Well I would not mind, but then I would refuse to accept the fact I cannot win. I look at books like Robert   a Heinlein  Revolt in 2100 or the Hunger Games. At the beginning there seems no hope of a Revolt winning but at the end the bad guys get their butt kicked.

    1.  Might as well ask why all corporation use Assassins and ruthless mercenaries to get what they want instead of using Lawyers and going  elsewhere to buy what resources they want.( Like in real life)
    2.  If an "Evil " corporation when blocked from getting trees from one forests shrugs it shoulders and gets it trees from a forest a few hundred miles away there no story. If on the on  the other hand they hire hundreds of goons and use attack helicopters to get those trees ,you got a blockbuster film.
    3.  And as people have said utopia can be boring.. Imagine roleplaying in a game where there are no bad guys, no evil to vanquish or rights to wrong . How long would that last.

  13.   Thanks for the reply

Seem then pretty open for me to do what I want then.

As far as Knights Fort being built by Rikard the Tigerheart.

Given its position at a very Strategic chokehold I would guess that a Fort and trading Outpost has been there since the First Age.

Given the Nature of the inhabitants of Prax, chances are it has been burnt down more times then Troy has.

Rikard the TigerHeart could just be the latest one to rebuild Knights Fort.

From what I know of Brithini, I don't consider them suitable for Player Sorcerers , but then Malkoni as a whole have problems in most role playing groups, so Im going to have to work on that.

  14.  Im starting a new game for a group of friends who have never played BRP/Runequest  and who know nothing about Glorantha and I decided to start them  in the Knight Fort area between the Holy Country and Prax shortly after the Lunar conquest of Prax..

I was wondering if there is any official information on Knights Fort beside its location on Maps of Prax?

My view ( Or at least in my game) Is it the major trading center for trade between Prax and the Holy Country and  being where Prax , Heortland and God's Forgot come together it has a very mixed population. So you can have a very mixed group of players. Its name suggest Malkoni Origin but its seems to be in Heortland.

Also does anyone know what form of Sorcery  is Practiced On God's Forgot/ Right arm Island?
