g33k
Did y'all see this piece? https://www.archaeology.org/issues/352-1909/features/7900-greece-pylos-mycenaean-warrior-grave 2
JanPospisil
Yeah, it's been shared a bunch on FB and other places. What I find odd is the guy's called "the Griffin Warrior" based on an ivory plaque, yet I have not seen a single photo of said plaque. Everyone just shows the awesome carved gemstone. Crel
Just now, JanPospisil said: Yeah, it's been shared a bunch on FB and other places. The linked article said the plaque hasn't been conserved yet. I'm guessing it's still covered in gunk and being worked on before a public picture is presented. @g33k, thanks for sharing. I've seen the combat agate before when the tomb was found, but hadn't seen this piece. Cool to see some ongoing speculation from those studying the grave. Mycenaeans are really interesting to me (thanks Homer). 1 Quote Jonstown Compendium author. Find my publications here. Disclaimer: affiliate link.
