QUASAR A science fiction space opera universe
tooley1chris replied to tooley1chris's topic in Basic Roleplaying
Working on a new Adventure Module but...don't wanna call them Adventure Modules in QUASAR. Suggestions? Maybe "Database"? Since they will likely have new ships, deck plans for ships, new equipment, etc -

DTRPG changed their website format and previews changed as well, although it doesn't appear the publisher tools available are keeping up with the changes just yet. I still have the same page range for the samples which should include the entire character sheet. You're right, the page they chose is not good... I've included a pdf of the character sheet in the preview but it needs approval. I'll include it here as well. Thanks for the heads up! Very humbled by the community support for my trilogy. After years of just putting stuff on BRP Central for FREE, I was nervous anyone would even be interested in a Sci-fi setting. I know fantasy is the main stream. Thank you! 🪐🛰🚀 That said if anyone with PoD experience with DTRPG would like to tackle these books...maybe it would be easy for someone who knows what they're doing. I'm sure we could work something out.M -

I'm not "buddies" with any of those people and hate asking for favors of strangers. Not sure I want to buy new software for this project (InDesign) because the mark up on hardback books is so dang high. I'd prolly only sell them for a few bucks above cost and only sell a few. Not looking at completing another project of this magnitude in the near future. Just not sure it'll be worth the additional cost or learning curve. Am I being silly? -

Been looking over the Print on Demand rules for Drive Thru. This is all outside of my paygrade and above my skill to comprehend much less implement. If someone would like to help with this we can work something out and make it happen, but until then I'm afraid POD just won't be an option. I wanted a hard copy as well... 🙄 -

Wrapping up! Getting ready to send QUASAR STARSHIP & CONSTRUCTION book to publisher! This one took a LOT of work *PHEW* Included 2 additional files as well. a printable starship design sheet and an excel spreadsheet to make design MUCH easier! (The actual file is much prettier than this preview 😜) -

Still chugging along on Starship Identification and Construction book. Had to redo some of the mechanics and ALL the starships because of this, which are numerous. A lot of people have asked about Print on Demand so will work on that next. Thanks for your galactic patience! -
I've thought about this but it contains SO MANY monsters. Its almost all the critters from D&Ds Monster Manuals I & II, Fiend Folio, and some various others. Would take forever just for art alone and I'm not sure sales would break even. I could rewrite the descriptions (as a lot of that is copy/paste) but... What a project. Was never my intention to publish or even make a dime off of them. No "donations" either. Just make something to make games easier

The Big Damn Book of Monsters was a compilation of my older Monster books. I did make some changes from the older conversions to the newer because they made more sense or I just liked the updated versions better. I'd stick with newer versions but up to you...or change whatever you like to fit your game. I only made the conversion books to make it easier for Chroniclers to run games and hopefully introduce new players to BRP. Hope it helps in your game! 👍

QUASAR A science fiction space opera universe
tooley1chris replied to tooley1chris's topic in Basic Roleplaying
In the QUASAR universe there are several types of space habitats many races are using to increase living space, deal with over population on planets, and grow economies. One such possibility used in the system is an O'neil Cylinder. These are mostly called Habitation Cylinders by other races. A completely enclosed, climate controlled, mostly self sustaining environment with imported land, lakes, and rivers. Not all space adventures are in space! This video is a neat example of one such habitat. https://youtu.be/Z2d_0l5ycRM -

QUASAR A science fiction space opera universe
tooley1chris replied to tooley1chris's topic in Basic Roleplaying
I'll try to set up a pdf Character Sheet of DTRPG today. This WAS on my to do list early on and got skipped. My apologies! POD is a bit more of a problem as DTRPG is picky on formatting. I'm working on this as well. (Promise!) But need to get my Starship Construction & I.D. book published first as it really is necessary for the mechanics. Systems and Starships will each be cheaper than the core because of this. 👍 -

I know I'm a noob "author" and some of you veterans will probably laugh at me, but its so strange to me how different my trials between my three QUASAR books have been. The core book was frustrating figuring out how to make small changes to the BRP mechanics for more of a futuristic and somewhat unique feel without tainting the beloved original. Oh, and HOURS UPON HOURS of listening to podcasts on futurism, fusion, astronomy, "physics for dummys", and pouring over alien encounter stories for the Sentience & Sapience racial section. Star Seed children who think they're originally from Andromeda. Kinda my fault because I wanted to use "authentic" aliens and real stars... (Do you know HOW MANY people think they're from another galaxy and YouTube about it???😀) The STAR SYSTEMS book was SO tedious and time consuming mapping all the various stars and solar systems, showing orbital paths, and adding extraterrestrial civilizations and some descriptions to the systems and technology. Nevermind hours spent in space simulation programs and the GIMP editor. Then figuring out the distance in light years between each of the stars from EACH OF THE STARS.😀 The 3rd book STARSHIP CONSTRUCTION & IDENTIFICATION is all mind rattling number crunching, mechanic grinding, writing and rewriting trying to make all the starships and their components compatible in the (hopefully) easiest way for others to figure out how to design. Ships power levels, power to shields/engines/ and weapons. Movement, fuel consumption, starship combat, associated skills, upgrades...then rewriting parts all over again. 🙄😀 Wrote an excel page to make creating the dozens of starships unique to each of the races easier. That really helped...until I made them all before realizing I left something pretty important out of ALL of them. Rewriting that part again now😀. I don't really mind. I know it happens, but MaAaAan... OK, so I'm pretty sure I had a point to all of this but now it escapes me. Maybe I just needed to vent. You should be a psychiatrist. I do feel a little better 😀 -

These are each stars you can find on real star charts. While some stars actually have discovered exoplanets planets orbiting them, the solar systems of each are mostly fictitious. An example would be the Trappist system that astronomers have found planets orbiting. I've used that and added moons, races, etc...That system is included in the book. -

** UPDATED ** QUASAR STAR SYSTEMS is NOW AVAILABLE at DTRPG! Over 50 mapped out and somewhat detailed Star Systems, the planets/moons/and other heavenly bodies, and the terrestrial race inhabiting the system. Also a Galactic Economic system aimed at starship captains wanting trade for profit and fun! While Star Systems was created with QUASAR in mind, it could be used for any sci-fi system
