  1. I'm currently re-reading Three Hearts & Three Lions by Poul Anderson and something based on that setting would be fun, in spite of my earlier comment about Fantasy Earth. :-) It's a bit like Pendragon I suppose (if you remove Arthur!) but not quite the same.
  2. I've never played it, but isn't Nephilim based on BRP?
  3. Excellent! Time to add some links, Sverre. ;-)
  4. A prettier version of the Shaman rules can be found here http://users.tkk.fi/~vberghol/rq/shamans.html
  5. Not quite sure how to describe it best, but it is heavily influenced by renaissance Europe with a pagan feel. So it is actually not terribly different from what Agentorange suggested above, but with a bit more "epic" feel to it and with a great big war coming and various nasty things lurking in the background. You have two competing large empire-type nations, a league of city states, and a group of smaller kingdoms caught in the middle. Two major religions, one of which is split into two and the other very Classical Greek in feel but with a heavy emphasis on the female Deities and Heroes. I don't know how the game plays yet, (it's based on the Fusion system) but character generation was fun, as I've only just made a PC for on-line play over at www.rpol.net www.theknownworld.com has a bit more info.
  6. Still, at least for those of us who already have RQIII (and perhaps MRQ), it should be a simple thing to convert. And there's always Sandy's different magic rules and whatnot on the net. I wouldn't be surprised to see this is another book though. And Chaosium have the RQIII-by-another-name monographs so presumably they can do what they want with the mechanics for future products
  7. I have never been a fan of Fantasy Earth type settings so I'd prefer it to be an invented world, but renaissance Italy is definitely close to what I had in mind. I'd probably leave out most if not all the traditional fantasy races and monsters and such though the occasional demon or zombie can spice up a game. Which, of course is the second major source of influence here. ;-) Except that would mean I had to work... And as I don't really have a group to play with I don't really have the motivation.
  8. Speaking of "full color fancy artwork books", I'd love to see Artesia converted into brp. I haven't bought many rpgs in a long time, but the Known World from Artesia is a fun setting. And the creator/Artist/Author is a fan of Glorantha and RQ. For something that's not specifically a licensed setting, I'd like to see a fantasy setting that doesn't revolve around or lead up to huge changes, invasions from over the sea and gods fighting it out. Something that puts more emphasis on competent but not really extraordinary characters. Political and religious rivalry within a city-state, a mercenary band wandering looking for hire, guarding a merchant caravan, finding the lost so and so. Anything that doesn't have the word "epic" in it.
  9. Didn't Shannon Appelcline write a history of Chaosium over at rpg.net that might be useful? And here it is: http://www.rpg.net/columns/briefhistory/briefhistory3.phtml
  10. I'm Bo Rosén and stared playing RPGs around 1979 or 80 with Melee, the combat game from Metagaming that evolved into The Fantasy Trip that evolved into GURPS. Soon after we discovered Basic D&D, Expert and AD&D which we played for a few years. My alter ego, Jarulf was one of my first AD&D characters. Eventually we discovered RQII and I remember my first character who had 18 in STR, INT and one more characteristic (without cheating!) who trounced a few trollkin in a cave on his first adventure. As we clamored for more action, our GM obliged and threw in a few more trolls, only they were cave trolls this time. And that was that. I remember the feeling of liberation I felt and how much sense RQ made in comparison to AD&D. I've played many of the BRP games at least once or twice but it's mostly been RQIII, both in Glorantha and various homebrews. I ran a short campaign in Drakar och Demoner, the Swedish translation of the fantasy bit from Worlds of Wonder but other than that I've mostly been a player. The group eventually split and I haven't played face to face regularly for over 15 years or so, but I've played in many games via email and now on boards like this one. But no BRP for ages.
  11. rpol.net is a site with a forum specifically designed for playing rpgs on-line. And yes, it stands for Roleplaying on line. Sorry, should have made that clearer.
  12. Not really planning anything, as I rarely GM and don't actually have a group to play with. The possible exception to this would be a once or twice a year session with my nine year old nephew. I introduced him to rpgs a few months ago when he visited, and I ran him through a simple RQIII adventure with Black Knights, girls in dreams, and a dragon or two. He seemed to like it so there may be demand for more. Other than that, I'll hope someone will run something interesting on RPOL once the game comes out.
