  1. There's at least one fishing community further up the coast (described in Greg's The Sea Cave). But that would offer pretty slim pickings too, unless the Wolf Pirates were seeking to capture slaves. I suspect the reason why the Wolf Pirates demurred at Corflu is that they weighed up the meagre pickings they'd reap sacking the place against the consequences of unnecessarily antagonising the Lunars, who garrisoned the place as their territory. Bigger fish to fry.
  2. Cthulhu called, and they answered. Acquisitions Incorporated will undertake their most eldritch adventure yet at PAX Aus next weekend! Join Jerry Holkins, Arnie Niecamp, Anna Prosser, and Ryan Hartman, with Kris Straub in the Keeper's Chair on Saturday night at 6.30PM in the Main Theatre and on Twitch. Keeper Kris Straub has created slides introducing each of the Acquisitions Inc Investigators playing Call of Cthulhu live on stage at PAXAus this weekend: Meet Ryan Hartman's character Donald Bleeker, "the pork chop prince of Poughkeepsie"... Meet Anna Prosser's character Evelyn Virginia Margaret Madison, leading light of L.A Thander’s equine rights activist group and all-round goodie-two-shoes. Here's movie actor Charles Priest, Arnie Niecamp's character. Star of stage and screen, and "silent as God intended".... "Discretion our priority, propriety if there's time".... Here's hardened private eye O. Dran, Jerry Holkin''s character for the Acq Inc live play:
  3. And thanks @trystero for making it clear on the RPGGeek thread that the original poster is talking about a book that was published by Chaosium over 18 years ago, lest anyone think this has all happened recently.
  4. Last year at PAX Aus, we were proud to introduce a team of recent Software Engineering grads from MU*, working on a new mythos-themed crypto-asset trading card game. Called Ethernomicon, the game is to be ultimately played on the Etherium Blockchain, a whole new gaming ecosystem that these young students are at the forefront of. The opportunities for existing game companies and their IP is something Chaosium finds intriguing, and we are supporting the MU grads and their new indie game company in their exploration of "on-chain" gaming. In a blockchain first, players will be able to build decks with their trading cards and battle other players on the blockchain to experience the Cosmic Horror of the Cthulhu Mythos like never before. But in order to get there, the next step in the development of the blockchain game is to produce a physical version of the game: details at the link... 5. This is an expanded version of the above post, published in Black Gate Magazine. The fact that the first-ever RPG "splat book" (1979) is still considered "vastly innovative" and "one of the best looks at religion ever in an RPG" (Designers & Dragons) is a testament to Greg Stafford and Steve Perrin's enduring creative genius. 'Cults of Prax' was certainly inspirational to me as a teenage RPG creator, and I am very fortunate to have later known and worked with both of them. https://www.blackgate.com/2019/10/06/cults-of-prax-then-and-now
  6. Regarding the recent Wendy's RPG promo, a Chaosium spokesman said, "RED'S GLOBSTER, the popular Innsmouth-based chain of 'seafood' restaurants, offered us a similar deal for Call of Cthulhu, but we had to turn them down. Their marketing dept's promise of 'endless suffering' seemed slightly fishy."
  7. THE TWO-HEADED SERPENT is Drive Thru RPG's Deal of the Day: 60% off! This is an Epic, Action-Packed, and Globe-Spanning 272 page campaign for Pulp Cthulhu, packed with nine adrenalin-fuelled adventures, Keeper advice, gorgeous full-color maps and player handouts.

  11. The Fall semester at Taylor University is in full swing and Mike and Lynne from Chaosium are in the thick of it! They're collaborating with seven Tabletop Game Writing Lab students as they experience an accelerated development of a Call of Cthulhu RPG adventure, which will be published in the Miskatonic Repository. The instructor, Prof TR Knight describes how it is going, and reveals the elevator pitch for the students' scenario. After studying the 'Cryptids and Mysteries of Indiana' and some video-conference sessions with Mike and Lynne, the Taylor U Writing Lab students have devised their scenario pitch: "Refractions of Glasston - A 1920s horror scenario set in Northern Indiana". Looking forward to seeing what they create! https://www.chaosium.com/blogupdate-on-chaosiums-collaboration-with-taylor-universitys-professional-writing-course

We are delighted to have Michal as part of the team! https://www.chaosium.com/michal-lisowski

  22. "On the Alda-Chur road, as a snowstorm sweeps in, a group of strangers find themselves thrown together. On the run from packs of howling ghouls streaming from the Woods of the Dead, they take shelter from the storm at Highwall Inn - the only safe haven along the road. But with all of the travellers carrying secrets, many of them deadly, will any of the strangers survive to see the storm break." A free HeroQuest Glorantha adventure Highwall Inn by Ian Cooper will be released on October 10, marking the first anniversary of the passing of Chaosium founder Greg Stafford. We have also announced free scenarios for 7th Sea, Call of Cthulhu, King Arthur Pendragon, and RuneQuest, all of which will also be available on Oct 10. Chaosium invites gamers to play a game in Greg Stafford's memory (any tabletop game) from Oct 10 - 31, and share the experience with the hashtag #weareallus and the "Greg Stafford Rune".
  23. For those RuneQuesters who like roleplaying Issaries traders, there's interesting #gloranthafuel here: some of the oldest known tablets excavated from the city of Ur are directed at a Mesopotamian merchant named Ea-Nasir who, judging by the sheer number of complaints against him, was "possibly the worst businessman of the second millennium BC." https://www.forbes.com/sites/kristinakillgrove/2018/05/11/meet-the-worst-businessman-of-the-18th-century
  24. The book will be out in retail distribution next month. Yes, that is our model. We ship the physical books to our three (soon to be four) warehouses: US, UK, Australia. As soon a book is ready for purchase on our website, Dustin sends out the coupons to everyone who previously bought the PDF from Chaosium.com. The coupon gives the full price of the PDF off the physical book. The PDF is usually released several months earlier, when the final files are ready to go to the printer. You can get the physical book from FLGSs, or other retailers, or Amazon or other on line sellers, too, usually within a month or so of it being available on our website. But to get the PDF included in the price, you have to buy if from Chaosium.com, or from a FLGS that is part of the Bits and Mortar initiative.
  25. Now out in hardback for Pulp Cthulhu from Chaosium.com. A COLD FIRE WITHIN is a six-part campaign set in 1935. A missing persons case leads to the discovery of a foul plot that could change time itself and bring disaster to the world. A cult intent on unleashing the power of the Great Old Ones leaves a trail through the Catskill Mountains and into the very heart of the planet! https://www.chaosium.com/a-cold-fire-within-hardcover
