The Domestic: An Introductory Solo Adventure for Rivers of London: the Roleplaying Game Spring, 2016: the Folly, also known as the Metropolitan Police Service’s “special magic branch,” has received word of repeated domestic disturbances at an address on Prince of Wales Road, London—and very odd ones, at that. 5. Are you a RuneQuest GM looking for new scenarios and story elements? A player looking for something mysterious to spark a character idea? Is your group looking for more Gloranthan goodness to use in your game? The Jonstown Compendium is where you can find —and create —self-published material for your Gloranthan roleplaying games. Here are the latest releases from independent RuneQuest creators; do check them out, and leave a star rating or review if you like what you see! Hydra! Peter Hart ($15.00, 171 page PDF) The Lunar College of Magicians wants to get hold of this year’s batch of Hydra’s eggs. Yes, that’s Hydra! Not some lesser hydra, but one of Glorantha’s few greater hydras: the only one known to exist in Genertela. The hydra of legend, said to be as large as a city, which lives atop Hydra’s Hill in the Hydra Mountains. The burden of expectation on the Magicians is currently high and delivering domesticated lesser hydra to fight alongside the troops in the field would satisfy Moonson of their continued utility. To that end the College has had assembled a disparate crew of expendables. Recent defeats in Sartar have a silver lining. Disgraced warriors who have fallen from favour may now be assigned to dangerous but potentially rewarding missions. Enter the adventurers! The Sanctum of Sarkath Han Magnus Seter, Robert Dudock, The Yellow Hand ($9.99, 50 page PDF) One Hundred Years. Two hundred Years. Three Hundred Years. Alabastor Did Not Know How Long She Had Been Incarcerated. But Now, She Would Soon Be Freed From Her Shackles. The adventure builds on the legendary starter adventure The Vault of Sarkath Han by the late Steve Perrin. The King-who-Walks Vivien Prigent ($7.50, 67 page PDF) This book is the first of the Beyond the Vale series, the sequel to In a Merry Green Vale and A Vale Ablaze. The King-who-Walks offers a two-fold scenario leading the players from Dangerford to the Godtime. Although the default setting is 1613-1624, advice to adapt it to a post-Dragonrise timeframe is provided, offering the PCs the opportunity to play a key-role in Kallyr Starbrow’s victory at the Battle of Dangerford. Ostrich Riders JK Revell ($4.00, 26 page PDF) This is a description of one of the lesser, ‘independent’ tribes of Prax. It includes brief character generation rules for the Ostrich Riders, and a description of the cult of the Ostrich Mother, central to their culture. It also includes a brief history of one of the ostrich clans, with twelve NPCs that can provide interaction or story possibilities for RuneQuest or QuestWorlds games in Glorantha. Islands of the Lost: Hero Wars in the East Isles - Vol 3 Hannu Rytövuori, David Cake, Nils Weinander ($12.00, 140 page PDF) Campaign and a sourcebook for the Korolan Islands in the East Islands, following on from the previous volumes in this series, Korolan Islands: Hero Wars in the East Isles - Volume 1 and Fires of Mingai: Hero Wars in the East Isles - Vol 2. Islands of the Lost is a starting point for a campaign in the East Isles and includes four RQG scenarios and contains a detailed gazetteer plus four adventures set on the Korolan Islands of Tamoro and Luvata and on two islands outside Korola. The book also has a timeline of future events of the East Isles, new ships and a summary of needed ship rules, six new cults and a new martial arts style. Stern Kolating Zed Nope ($5.00, 4000 pixel PNG image) A watercolour illustration of a Kolating Shaman, holed up in a cave somewhere, may be used under license in Jonstown Compendium projects. Tarkalor's Keep Finmirage ($2.50, 11 page PDF) Adventure location situated near Apple Lane and featured briefly in the RuneQuest Gamemaster Screen Pack's Adventures book. Details the eponymous keep, and includes a short adventure. Eurmal's Truth Smol Snek ($0.50, 2 page PDF) There was a murder, but it was 20 years ago. Ghosts call out for venge... no wait, the ghost is summoning a bear, not vengeance. In need of plot, or filler, or the happy warm feeling of supporting a young writer? We have you covered! Tiny Treasures Smol Snek ($0.50, 2 page PDF) Six precious things to spice up market-time or send your adventurers off after the rumours of new treasures. Some are simple or common, one is unique but cheap. Give your Jonstown Market a boost with a new caravan, or pick one up in the graceful collonades of Boldhome, or the loud souks and painted trade-houses of Nochet. Porcupine Cat Smol Snek ($0.50, 2 page PDF) A single cute but very spiky animal, two pages of cuteness with spikes. Full stats and three mini plots so you can use this splendid creature in your campaigns without effort. The Bandit Den Smol Snek ($0.50, 2 page PDF) There are bandits in the hills again, and the PCs are hired to deal with them. The place is hidden – yay! – trapped – double yay! – and full of violent murderers, so it’s a specialist job. This is a simple fight-it-out adventure, showing the consequences of banditry; you have a PC problem. 100 Hooks and Rumours for Griffin Mountain Adrian Kennelly ($1.99, 10 page PDF) Characters can come across rumours when asking around for information and this supplement has 100 such for them to hear in Balazar, primarily related to the three citadels. 7. Did you know John Kovalic's popular comic series Dork Tower is an affectionate pun-on-a-pun, taken from Jennell Jaquays' "Legendary Duck Tower” for RuneQuest, itself a pun on Jennell's earlier D&D "Dark Tower" module? Jennell Jaquays is a long-standing and multi-talented contributor to TTRPGs - as a designer, writer and artist. While she's created material for a host of game systems since the earliest days of roleplaying, we especially revere Jennell for her highly-regarded work for RuneQuest. This includes such iconic titles as Griffin Mountain and Cults of Terror, and of course the Judge's Guild's Legendary Duck Tower. What's more, Jennell did the earliest depiction of a TTRPG Duck, as cover art for Wyrm's Footnotes #8, drawn in 1979. Sadly, Jennell is now critically ill, and John has created this cool limited edition poster to help! 100% of the proceeds from both the prints and the original art will go towards Jennell Jaquay’s GoFundMe. You can purchase John's limited edition poster here: https://shop.dorktower.com/product/limited-edition-fundraising-duck-tower-print You can donate to Jennell's GoFundMe here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/jennell-jaquays-has-a-long-road-back

  9. Today Graveyards of Arkham Kickstarter backers ($99 and above) received a digital copy of our magnificent Old Arkham Graveyard Map. Graveyards of Arkham backers at specific levels were able to reserve a graveyard plot of their own; soon we'll be asking them to pick out a headstone from our selection of master masonry, and write their epitaph. There's even a City of Arkham notarised Plot Certificate, which we'll share soon! About the Old Arkham Graveyard The Old Arkham Graveyard on East Church Street in the French Hill neighborhood sits across the street from Smith’s Boarding House - certain rooms within provide a splendid view of the cemetery, although Phineas Smith who runs the boarding house with his wife Harriet suggests refraining from staring at the graveyard at night lest the view encourages troublesome nightmares. The graveyard is a remnant from Arkham’s founding. Antiquarians and history lovers may delight in finding many 17th century headstones among its well kept vegetation and newer plots. Of course, those taking too much of an interest in the graves are liable to be warned off by Klaus Mehler, the groundskeeper, who is disdainful of those who disturb the rest of those who lie there. Created by the wickedly inventive HPLHS The magnificent Old Arkham Graveyard Map was created specially for the Graveyards of Arkham Kickstarter by our wickedly inventive friends Sean Branney and Andrew Leman of the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society They also contributed the wryly authentic advertisements on the Akrham Map we've already shared in this Kickstarter, and look out for Andrew as a guest NPC when Graveyards of Arkham releases! Sean and Andrew have won multiple awards for their amazingly authentic props and documents exploring the Mythos, and with this resonantly detailed map you can see why! Check out the other prop sets the HPLHS has created at their website, including the Masks of Nyarlathotep Gamer Prop Set and Call of Cthulhu Classic Prop Set. They're already two-time ENNIES Product of the Year winners, but the HPLHS continue to raise the bar with their latest Call of Cthulhu prop set: the new Arkham Investigator's Wallet. This is a real vintage-style leather wallet, packed full of more than 40 things that an investigator in 1920s Arkham might have on them. To help crank up the fun, they've even included an all-new Call of Cthulhu scenario written to feature the wallet and its contents! The Old Arkham Graveyard Map will be available to purchase in general release in the lead-up to the launch of the Graveyards of ArkhamCall of Cthulhu actual play series in 2024. In the meantime, do check out the ENNIES-nominated previous series Bookshops of Arkham, if you haven't already!

  11. Folks can be hospitable without being friendly, and the reverse is also true (nb I experienced both living and working for a decade in the Middle East). I laughed at that one!

  13. Related to what goes on in God Forgot: Because the traditionally ordained agricultural practices of the Brithini are better suited to frigid Old Brithos than rain-sodden Heortland, the Bandori who come to God Forgot to work on the Talar's farms keep one field for show, and do things their own way on the rest. Just before harvest-time, they will surreptitiously "dress" the show field with the finest produce from the back fields, ready to show off to the Talar on his annual tour of the farms.
  14. Today Graveyards of Arkham Kickstarter backers ($49 and above) received a digital copy of our magnificent Graveyards of Arkham Official Movie Poster. It depicts main cast members Mark Meer (Keeper of Arcane Lore) and Investigators Josephine McAdam, Patrick Logan, Lucia Versprille, and Noura Ibrahim. We love it! The artist who created this spectacular poster is Chaosium staff artist Ossi Hiekkala. His work for Chaosium includes the covers for the RuneQuest Starter Set, RuneQuest: Weapons and Equipment, and the forthcoming Lords of the Middle Sea. You can also see Ossi's art inside Basic Roleplaying: Universal Game Engine , and titles in the new Cults of RuneQuest series including Cults of RuneQuest: The Earth Goddesses, Cults of RuneQuest: The Lightbringers, and most recently, Cults of RuneQuest: Mythology. Ossi currently has a slate of art commissions underway for RuneQuest, Call of Cthulhu, Pendragon, BasicRoleplaying, and Lords of the Middle Sea that will appear in coming Chaosium releases. The Graveyards of Arkham Official Movie Poster will be available to purchase in general release in the lead-up to the launch of the Graveyards of Arkham Call of Cthulhu actual play series in 2024. 18. For Seven Mothers cultists that's where embalmers come into the picture. Then you prop the dead sable rider up in the saddle and keep on riding until the full moon*. *But its not a "dead" body though, not officially, not until the priests says resurrection is no longer viable.
  19. No worries. Cults of Prax is available in PDF and POD if you're interested (fully-remastered true to the original).

  21. What reviewers are already saying about alone Against the Static "A successful evolution in the line of solo adventures for Call of Cthulhu, featuring innovations... as well as a deep, twist-filled, dark, and terrifying story. In terms of technical aspects, the artwork is top-notch, evocative when necessary and clarifying when appropriate, in full color both in digital and print formats." — La Biblioteca Orne. "Alone Against the Static creeps me out... it’s one of the most atmospheric adventures I’ve played, run or simply read from Call of Cthulhu. Highly recommended. Two thumbs up." — Pen and Paper News. "I was also pleased that not everything is handed to you on a plate, so even after playing through the game several times, there are still questions that cannot be answered - and often that is what horror is all about. 9/10" — Poltergeist.
  22. A Call of Cthulhu nightmare beyond signal range! Alex and Charlie believe that a secluded weekend getaway in the Black Hills of South Dakota is just what they need to reinvigorate their marriage—but older and darker things than broken hearts exist in the forgotten places of the world. Will they survive, alone against the static? Alone Against The Static is a modern-era scenario. It is designed for use with either the Call of Cthulhu Keeper Rulebook or the Call of Cthulhu Starter Set. Solo Call of Cthulhu in the 1990s Set in the Dakota Black Hills in the early 1990s, Alone Against The Static is designed for a single player—no Keeper required! 23. Cults of Prax advises that local customs are given preference. So it depends where in the Empire you are. It also says that the cult will routinely try to resurrect devout worshippers "if possible", so funeral rites wouldn't take place until that is no longer viable (a week, according to the resurrect rune spell). From that I take it that a full week must pass after a SM worshipper dies before an official declaration of death can be made. There is a bit more detail about funerals for Rune Priests and Lords of the cult, and the songs sung during the rites for them, which don't take place until the full moon. So they must have embalmers on hand.
