  1. Good news again. Does "magic world' have a dedicated forum, or are we sharing?
  2. Well that's great news, and just what I wanted to hear. Going to keep my eye on this one. With a title like "Magic World", I'm wondering does the game fully support all types of fantasy characters? Rangers, Mercenaries, Knights, Rogues, those type of characters, Or does the game expect you to play predominantly spell casting characters?
  3. Not sure if this is the right forum, so I apologise in advance if it isn't. Concerning the role-playing game Magic World. I was surprised to learn that there are less than 100 spells. I thought there would've been more than that. Of course I realise it's a subjective call but there you go. Any release date set?

    Combat Question

thanks for clarifying Newt Matthew Harrison (Badger) says 'Hi' by the way!
  5. In opposed skill tests characters with skills over 100% are already considered to have succeeded. Therefore to be beaten his opponent needs to score a critical success. Of course the Master may also roll a critical, in which case the highest roll wins. The above details a skill roll, but if this was combat, kust to verify, would the opponent still require a Critical to successfully Dodge/Parry?
  6. Thanks for that Newt, I think I will stick with the other ruling, I really like that. What about the Brawn skill, have you decided whether or not to include it?
  7. I first saw it in RuneQuest 6, but I am very sure I'd heard about it prior to that. I think it's a great rule.
  8. The Q&A thread has been closed for some reason, but I'd like to ask a question here if it is ok. How will OQ2 be handling opposed skills over 100? Will you be trimming the larger down to 100 and reducing the smaller skill by a like amount? Example: Attack 130 v Defend 90 equals Attack 100 v Defend 60 Thanks

    OpenQuest 2 Q& A

Any decision on whether or not the Brawn skill will be included?
  10. I'd like to see a clean typeface with clear layout and formatting. Tablet friendly would be the icing.
  11. Pole dancing elves! Rules for creating steam punk type gadgets/machines.
  12. Yes, all good work arounds, but it would be neat to see something 'official' in the book.
  13. I'd like to emphasise the request for more spells. One of the things I'd like to do with OQ2, is use it to run all the old d&d modules. What would be handy, is to have 'template' spells allowing you to extraploate any type of spell you like. Similar to the 'Energy' spell being used for 'fireball'. Also, I've always run into problems when trying to use XQuest for high fantasy, and it's because hit points don't increase. The end result is the pcs having to cut short a dungeon delve because hit points are so low. That's gritty fantasy, not high fantasy. So perhaps some optional rules to circumnavigate this issue.
  14. I do confess to having already started to port over the Combat Maneuvers
  15. When Runequest 6 came out I thought this is going to be brilliant - however, after reading the book I decided that it's just too complicated. OQ2 sounds just about right, and I'm really enthused about the direction it's going in. Great work Newt!
  16. If 'Cults' are going to be in the book, how's about a template and examples on how to write out a Cult? If OQ2 really can be used for high magic, does that mean we'll see spells like; Invisibility, Fireball, Fly? What about rules for creating your own magical items?

    OpenQuest 2 Q& A

There may or may not be a Brawn skill? Not really much of an issue, as it's relatively easy to add it in.
  18. Sorry Pete, I believe what you meant to say was: Yes? Oh well, I had to try
  19. February 29th today Sucks we have to wait an extra day due to leap year! Whe's spring this year, March 1st right!?
  20. True. But you can't beat a hardcopy at the table
  21. Thanks for that (Does this qualify as one of the longest waits for a reply to a post? )
  22. We play in all of them. Currently we are doing Pathfinder but the next campaign could be anything.
  23. I really wanted BRP to work, and it does. But I just couldn't juggle all the references and optional extras scattered here and there. Thanks for the info.
  24. Are there any plans to bring out a new edition of the BRP? I realise the rules wouldn't change, but to be honest I found the organisation so bad, I couldn't get through it and sold it on. Anything in the pipelines?
